Hello everyone, Steve has very kindly invited me over to spin some tunage for you all. Banbury Soul Club is in its 21st year with two yearly Events in April & November. Expect to hear great Soul music from the 6t's & 7t's. With some of our popular sounds being thrown in for your delectation. I've been a regular @ Lickey End and all the Catshill Events; so have a handle on what you all need for dance floor action. Looking forward to another great night at a real cool venue. The Isley's had one or two releases very early 6t's. You have the "marmite" sound of Sue Lynne - Don't pity me (Non-Soul) 1969. I always remember King George for "I'm gonna be somebody someday". The Friends of Distinction where just about happening very late 6t's. Grazing in the grass ( USA 1969) (UK 1970) then lots more releases. But as you say very sparse indeed for Black Soul releases it would seem.

If this of any use to anyone? I recently sent 6 x 45's and used the Royal Mail 48 Tracked option. It cost me £2.80 - which seemed half decent. No idea tho on compensation for loss or damage. The print out said "item value £150" but I was not asked about it. I suppose I took a chance - but you get full tracking on where it is AND a picture when delivered. I did not ask for a signature as picture is fine. Prob more money for that - but it was an option. It also got delivered within 48 hours.

Wolf Hall is certainly a quality series and we pay our license fee for this sort of stuff. First episode of the second series did not disappoint. Not sure if the BEEB will let you binge watch it on the iPlayer ?

Totally agree - a great price imho. Didn't Tim Brown have one up for auction recently and the starting price was £1500 ? Personally love this tune, but never hear it played out. Why? It is a great punchy dancer. John Weston has spun it in the past for me.

What about Carl with his Hank Hodge and Appointments ? AND Ady has the Butlers with Frankie Beverly - I want to feel I'm wanted (on Rouser) Some of my faves @ Stewartby. Please can you list the DJ times for both rooms. Is the the second room Freestyle , Modern , Cross Over, etc ? (ie different from what is played in the Main Room) Cheers, Tom. Banbury.

Can someone local please update on the current situation regarding FLOODING around Stewartby. I can see the "old" A421 is not a problem and know it well. However; Google live is showing Green Lane and Stewartby Way closed! These would be my routes of choice to this Event. If these routes are closed what other choices do I have ? Cheers, Tom. Banbury.

I seem to remember Kenny saying he did not ask Frank to sign the label, but he did before being able to be stopped. I could be wrong as some time ago - think it was signed when Frank was @ Fleetwood Weekender 2001.

That is truly terrible news. Cannot believe it. I want To Feel I'm Wanted (with the Butlers 1966) is one my fave tunes of all time. And his version with Maze (1985) is pretty amazing too. Not to mention Joy & Pain being one of the greatest ever. We are losing all the "greats" - how depressing. But just play any of above to lighten up your day - I am now. T.
