  1. SELLING UP? OR CASHING IN, GREAT, I HAVE DONE IT 3 X TO PAY FOR CHEMICALS. LAST TIME I SPENT OVER 24 k IN 1 YEAR 1990/1? WHEN TIMES ARE HARD AND THEY ARE FOR ME, INVEST I HOPE YOUR RECORDS GO AND YOU MAKE A PROFIT, HOWEVER THE HALCION DAYS OF FINDING STUFF AS WE DID IN THE 7ts WILL NEVER RETURN AND WHEN COLLECTORS SELL THERES 45,s THERES ALWAYS "CHERRY PICKERS"? I CALL THEM DJ,s WITH THEIR SINGLES BOX AND THATS IT, THEY SOLD UP/OUT, YEARS AGO. IF YOUR COLLECTION IS UNDER 1000 45,s I MAY BE TEMPTED SELLING UP WOULD NOT HAPPEN FOR MYSELF**WHUFC "THE TRUE SPIRIT OF 69 MORE THAN SKIN DEEP**DAVE (BRINGING BACK THE GOOD TIME) KIL**
  2. Hi all* Have you ever had that sensation were you no can things get something is not right? At 17.15 today I was in the Sound Room, when I could sell a sort of plastic burny type of whiff? Nose To Brain error? It took at least 1 minute for my brain to engage, here are the clues record room with shelves of vinyl, the smell of plastic burning! WAKE UP! I here you saying? FIRE FIRE! I here you shouting! and suddenly F*** F*** I here myself crying "F"it, you no that spotlight that you were meant to throw as it is unsafe? more F&Bing the lamp is on a pile of duties that you were playing down the phone at midnight the lamp has fallen onto the dusties***reality sets in and you approach murmuring Hail Mary Full of Grace, pick up the Evil Lamp and check the Vinyl it,s a US MGM ISSUE more foul language fills the room MGM and VERVE are my favorites, you notice that the dusty is a stock copy and in the right sleeve and a polythene cover, Maybe Just Maybe it was the poly thing? and at least 2.5 Hail Marys you got to have some luck this year? Not me not this year Answer is no! the record like all my records are special, and this one is a great oldie northern stomp er with group harmonies and had a nice B side, it was mint- how do I replace it whats its value I play records by the quality not the price, any way I ain't got the money to replace it the moral of this tale is clear out the junk, and I really am Angry, apology to Mick for Swearing DAVE KIL

  4. Hi Stefan, I wont patronize you but as I have said before until this happens to yourself know one knows the "if only,s" as such you have to accept your loss and although hard at the moment with your emotions and feelings leaping from anger to sadness, it would be wise to start the grief process now? However if you do hear any whispers on there whereabouts?? give me a shout I will get them back for you, try and unwind and relax without the use of chemicals? don't forget any news no matter how small if it,s a lead it.s a start? any one who knows or sees some of Stefan's Tunes please Contact me DAVE (More Than Skin Deep)KIL.

  7. Nice one Mick, what in particular are you looking for as my Action Label will take all day? but its a good project to do, and I will contribute when I can, you can have the ones already on my page to start with? DAVE(MRE THAN SKIN DEEP) KIL.
  8. I Don't know what all the fuss is all about? if you were born 1956 or before and you use to read HOME OF THE BLUES then BLUES & SOUL monthly and then biweekly DAVE GODIN was a must read, it is that simple. by the time he went to BLACK MUSIC mag 73/4 I for one did not find him as good as the early days, and if you were just getting into the soul scene then he really did not offer the inspiration of his early work? the exception is the interview with Ian Levine in BM well worth a read even today, it was a supreme write up DAVE (MORE THAN SKIN DEEP)KIL.
  9. I wonder what Carl Jung would of made out of this statement from a middle aged man in 2009?? "Dave Everson is GOD?" It reminds me of the 1st time I saw the phrase "Rules OK!" early 7ts in Leeds on an estate just of the Hyde Park (forgot the name of estate but it was rough, Kids had a barricade and bonfire on the street and decided who came and went) When I first saw the statement LEEDS UNT Rule KO! it was an exciting remark? of course they do? so do I KO!, a few months later and all football teams Ruled KO!, the power of the statement really meant something, in the same way as "Dave 4 Marie" does. "Dave Everson is GOD" whenever I see the word GOD I always translate it by putting another O in the word to see if the authors remark stands up to the meaning of the word? so GOD becomes Good AH that's Better don,t you think? "Dave Everson is Good" and you get your answer of course he is, in fact he is a very decent Bloke, one of the best on the scene, I first met him at the Casino don't know what year as he has always been around, typical Potteries Man, in fact I can honestly say I have never met a bad person from the Stoke area, with 1 exception Keith Minshull! good old Keith Moody F**ker but probably the best Moody F**ker of all time. Dave Everson is a genuine Bloke even though I am still waiting for my competition Prize that I won on Signal Radio (About when the Impressions Started)*** that's a gag line if ever I saw one? "HE IS A GOOD MAN" DAVE(MORE THAN SKIN DEEP) KIL.

  12. You could not get in any night club in the late 6ts and early 7ts with Jeans or Boots, thank god they bout out LEVI STA PRESS and no way could you get into a Lacarno Tiffenies or Mecca without a Tie on as any body who went to the Highland Room in Blackpools Mecca will tell you, so I think comon scence is the rule we all know that we dont need door men at a Rare Soul Night, they are only there to chat to
  13. Sorry Baza I got a bit mixed up in my reply, The Notts scene for Black Music was as good as London all be it on a much smaller basis. In fact the first real Northern Soul person that I met came fromNottingham JOHN WILKINSON, He lived not far from myself for a few months, and he turned me on to "at the Dicspteqque Jackie Lee ect, A good bloke, and as for Jamacan Music there were a few Blues clubes in the area which ran from the 6ts until the 8ts with local sound men and people playing the tunes from Wolverhampton Mr Macguiness & from London Duke Vinn I no for sure played tunes in Notts also Laural Aikin lived around that area, so it was the exception to the rule, plus it had loads of crumpet?? 15. Jimi Hendrix**Ditto that, I like all the mans stuff!! even his session work that goes much deeper than theISLEYS & Curtis Night. he did work backing the greats and the obscure. In 1970 we nicked a mini van of somme hairy people who had got it to see HENDRIX at the Isle of White (Hendrix facts)..I also remembr buying the Bootleg LP the LULU SHOW Tribute to Cream and the great Wild thing from Monteray I think? i purchesed it from Richard Branson along with Bob Dylans "Talking Bear Mountain Picnic desarster Blues", I wonder if Richard ever met Simon Souesan, EGO CLASH or what, I know someone who has 2 Ampeck master tapes of JIMI playing accoustic he is still sitting on them ?? LEGALISSUES DAVE KIL

  17. THE FIRST VENUE IN HARTFORDSHIRE TO PLAY "WHEEL" RECORDS WAS STEVENAGE MECCA DJ DANNY LENO PLAY A FEW GREAT SOUNDS, AS HE DJed AT THE tOTENHAM ROYAL ALTERNITIVE WEEKS, I SUPOSE HE WAS THE FIRST TO PLAY RARE SOUL(NORTHERN)TO ANY ONE FROM THE SMOKE? HE WAS RESIDANT DJ AT BOTH FROM 68 TO 71 I THINK, NEXT UP IS BILL MAC, MICK SMITH & YOURS TRULY IN 71/2 IN HITCHIN "DIVE BAR" BEST LITTLE EVENT GOING, & THE BLACK HORSE PUB IN LEIGHTON BUZZARD WAS A GOOD VENUE IN 72, HOW LONG IT RAN FOR??? BEDFORDSHIRE & CAMBRIDGESHIRE ARE NOT HOME COUNTIES SO FORGET IT LADS? DAVE{MORE THAN SKIN DEEP)KIL
  18. When you say on the scene longest do you mean Soul Scene or All-Nighter Scene, if you mean both and they still go to events Brian Raye, Glen Belamey? sorry they have DJed Frankie Baggot beats most as he remembrs me attending the Twisted Wheel in 69/This is a hard one as most people must of spun a few tunes in the last 45 years, if not why not and lets at least make it happen???? Dave (MORE THAN SKIN DEEP) KIL
  19. Nice one, I think we have some mutial friends with Wolfy Dave Chriss & Belinda and so on. we should revive the pub nights on the Grey Friers Road, that used to happen 15 years ago??memories DAVE (MORE THAN SKIN DEEP) KIL

  21. Hi Sometimes iI forget the true value of certain UK rareities?? maybe it.s because Itend to talk to same people and the proce of a 45 is not the issue, but it rareity is essential? I Sold a Black Atlantic copy of Paul Kelly "Chills & Fever" in VG+ NOC for £10, Ireckon the buyer at the Torch Reunion got a deal? I better have a valuation done ASAP DAVE KIL
  22. YES IT MUST BE AT LEAST £70+ for a MINTY ONE AND THE DEMO IS ABOUT A £TON AND HAS BEEN FOR A LONG TIME, IT,S PROBERLY DUE TO BE REVIVED OVER THE NEXT 12 MONTHS? A US ORIG DJ COPY IS QUITE ELUSIVE? NO IDEA OF PRICE MINE COST £2 FROM SOUL BOWL IN 75ish? THE TIFFINIES IS MY FAV! DAVE KIL
  23. The last timeI met anyone who was not around in 68/9 was Spider John a well known Boot Boy around 15 years ago, he even tried to have ago at me when I was DJing at (see Flyer) he did have the old Spirit of 69..a very unpredictable lad. I wonder what happened to him? the last I know he was running up the Pentiville Road.
  24. See Lads I thought I told you that in 68/9 Skinhead as a word came from a "red top" and if you look at the photo of the Tiles Club in 66 there really is not a lot of difference style. I think that if had not been for 1967 there would never been "Boot Boys" and its a fact most BB,s went on to be Borstal Boys have The BB is not chosen as accidental the Gangs of the day were CREWS and like the underworld Firms most crews were made up with a big criminal element but for every 100 I will call them Skinheads, only about 10 were the hard core crew members or Faces to use a London term, most people just loved the Fashion like yourselves, somehow I cant see you with a razor or knife ready to fight while your mates ran away?? I think we are getting of the subject here..however if you are interest in the development of the Boot Boy and in a very short space of time under 24 months and it had gone as quick as it came please contact myself, you girl is a looker I have Just the right 2 Shirts for her and a BIG E Levi jacket almost bespoke to her (by looking at Photo) she is dressed like a West Ham Sort??? DAVE KIL
  25. Hi all, just dug this photo out, its a nice one of the entrance to the Tiles Club Posters are typical of the time**named DJ was always from a Pirate Radio Station, Fashion very similar to the 68 look, Hair "french Boy Boston Back",**FACE at the Door is a Peddler and is very in the know**also he is a big lad??. ** As I have stated this could of been the WHEEEL, but it was a Soho club. ** My Brother saw Jimi Hendrix at the Tiles in 66 ** 1st pic is Little Scottie and myself at the Torch Reunion, not long to go now by the look of me??
