  1. Hi Ted this tune is a standard and there are quite a few I remember Cilla Black singing it on her show late 6ts Etta James did it on Chess i will try and researc this one as for Goegy Boy its the best version and if you got his live at the Flamingo LP? heres the DK link I saw Billy Stewart there in 68 singing this classic song DAVE KIL
  2. Hi can any body give me or knows who did the vocal STAR,S THEME KING BEE AND THE SENSATIONS ON SENSATION RECORDS? I think it was STEVE MANCHA but not sure also what the song was called, and VAN MACOYS STRINGS SWEET & EASY SHARE RECORDS? I used to no that one but age is against me, DAVE KIL
  3. This Is a Illicit boot could come from many differant places as in 72 to 75 we all new someone who could do a one of in the North Midlands and the South value wise they are Northern Soul History as such one day they will mean something to someone, I know a fine art studant who use to rave about the artwork some soul fans would put onto record sleves as some kind of social statement. One Day but I bet I am Long Gone value £1 DAVE KIL
  4. I remember buying this record from CARLOWS in Bedford at the end of 1970 DAVE KIL

I dont know if this is the only way it come out? or was it only on LPs the $ tops Look out of your Window B/W Bababras Boy I doubt that its worth more than £10 but I aint come accross anouther one? so whats it worth? and whats the history about it? DAVE KIL
  6. I remember that Good Ambition Sonny & Cher on red Atlantic was a must have sound in 76 not sure who played it first but could of been Ady at St Ives vie Hammy DAVE KIL

  9. I used to own a Chris Jackson accitat om 444 not SINCE NO DOUBT but a 2 tracker that was basic uptempo it was origanally mratins (soul sams) i swapped it beleive it or not for a pile of demos at the now roofless BLACK HORSE PUB in Wolves on the late 8ts to Mick Holsworth, I think Johny Pugh has it now with the other one, he told me it is now not in the same condition as when i had it as to rareity priceless as i have never hered or seen any written info about it sorry i cant remember the titles. but I did play it to Roy Geldor and Mick Smith at Walsall record fair who can vouch that I am not talking Bollocks DAVE KIL
  10. In the days of the torch and early days of the Casino most records were less than 5 or 6 years old and of course Blackpool was famouse for playing sounds that were current or just a couple of years old so you had a situation that the new sounds were almost parralel with the classic oldie hence the sucess of the Friday night AllNighter at the Casino which at many times was more popular than the official Saturday Night. Moving on in the early 8ts newies was a term used for records not played in the 7ts except by collectors and modern to me meant HI Energy type sounds so modern was basically soulfull Disco if we look back today at what is moder there has been a slight change in that the music has its roots in 2 forms of soul that were not really recognised in the early days of stomp. by that i mean mid tempo and funk in the purest form and modern capulates the groove of a vast array of soul music that origanal allnighter goers would not dismis but found it not in keeping with the stomp. so in the main modern means a 7ts 8ts sound that has been accepted by rare soul collectors away from the stomp sound i think we all no off 6ts sounds that fall in the modern sound guide line is Wide Awake in a Dream a good example of what i mean, so basically is 73 to 83 with exceptions?, and no Duffy is not modern SOUl so dont even think about it there 1000s of great SOUL sounds out there Duffy is just a very tallanted singer who sings in a old stye way DAVE KIL
  11. No this is not boring, as this type of misleading is clearly done so you can be conned, the dealer will always say why did you not contact him/her before bidding its your fault, and when returning a recored always be clear to the dealer that you are going to send it regesterd and he must refund the postage to you once again he/she is planning that you arnt going to do this, as they are scum, my tip is allways deal with reputable dealers who you can trust see there feedback ect and if it looks a to good to be true record remember its 2009 not 2005 when you could pick up great records cheap. i would also recomend you by records especially rare ones not on line but of a list from poeple who have been dealers for a long time Ian Clark, Mick Smith ect you know what i mean? todays dealers online also seem to have a min bid that indicates that its a gen record and not a boot ect I hope you get your cash back and always check first if not with the dealer one of your mates as they may already know about a record SAM DEES Lonly for you Baby spring to ming as its a B side the DEMO is Double A DAVE KIL
  12. Dont for get there are a couple of samplers the Action/poeple single my copy of it was featured in a copy of RECORD COLLECTOR when they issued the great ISLAND STORY over 5 issues a must read? and a Leeds Uni featuring Joe Cocker or was that on Sue. I dont know of any other promos except for the skelington A, and the EMI style DEMO on the Green & Blacks not clears? also Black A on the Blue & Grey man standing copies that for some reason came out as one sided A,s which means a issue can be more desireable as thats the side to here, frustrating or what, it is my opinion that Eddie Holman..I Surrender DEMO is the rareist ACTION however some younger and newer collectors seem to think TOM GREENE is i think they get it wrong as the Tom G was not a collectors item till 10 years ago and demand out grew availability. the question is what is the best Action single or should this be a new topic DAVE KIL

  14. I was there that night selling as you do not miss allnighters, for those who were there it was the strangest nighter that you could be at with all the lights on, I took 3 spools of super 8 mm film that for some strange reason someone had bout along to film outside in the morning when we got in the Casino the suprise of the lights pissed many regulars of however I walked around the balcony, in the bar and filmed Kieth Minshall DJing from the stage, as for chewies never retorted to that crap if you new me I always had the proper stuff, the film still exists by the owner who lives in NORTH HERTS, I would love a copy of the film and I suspect so would every body who is in love with wigan casino but the geezer wont let any one see it for some strange reason? and of couse i am on the documentry you no us Londoners always walking to the front of the quew Dave Kil
