  1. Dave's turned up loadsa good uns so now we mainly need Velvelettes, Dennis Coffey and maybe a good quality one of Willie Tee. Thanks Ady
  2. Does anyone have good photos of the following artists on stage preferably (if not anywhere in the building) Barbara Lewis Doris Troy or Tommy Hunt only if with band behind them Tony Middleton Sidney Barnes Hoagy Lands Velvelettes Dennis Coffey Spencer Wiggins Percy Wiggins Hi Res scans would be great, just the best ones you've got would be fine Thanks Ady
  3. Yeah thanks, Doris defo did a PA in 95 but I'm sure her or Tommy performed with a group in 96 but it's not in the programme of that year.
  4. 20 years worth of sleevenotes is addling my brain. Can anyone remember if Tommy and Doris just did the PAs in 1995 or did one or the other of them come back and do a show with a band in 1996? The programme for that year indicates we just had DJs but I'm sure at least one of those acts played Cleggy with a group behind them. Help!?
  5. Any students or unemployed at the 100 Club this Saturday £8 admission. Ady
  6. Sorry Dave, I'm in the middle of negotiations with someone who isn't picking up the phone so plans B and C are lined up. The good news is I'm sorted for next year! Cheers ady
  7. True but sometimes there were no basic song demos. In the Ben E King case the writers were the producers and as they knew they were gonna give the song a full production anyway would have skipped the basic demo stage and give the publishers (in the UK it was Carlin) the full production job.
  8. Lots of publishers acetates are full recorded versions of songs. Ben E King 'Gettin' To Me' being a case in point.
  9. I could do with knowing who snagged it so that we could include it with our license with Eddie Frierson the last remaining Hytone who would benefit from the royalties on any sales. I thought it sounded like the same backing track of Good News with a slightly different vocal take. It would be good to hear the whole darn thang. Ady
  10. One of the best ever soul shows and the band of white thirty somethings were stunning, their two piece horn section sounded twice the size of the four piece who had been on before them. He's fantastic.
  11. He was utterly brilliant, one of the best live soul acts any of us had ever seen; and he didn't even do Take Me Back!
  12. Tis indeed Jock. I can relate that the Big Hit version of Do It Good is totally different to the Dave Hamilton tape we've got which is earlier 1970ish and more basic funk groove, the 1976 Big Hit version has a storyline lyric. The flip is a totally different song to the ballad coupling we found on the master tapes though both were Dave/Buddy compositions. The 45 is a blues ballad called 'This World Without You', the earlier master is a soul ballad called 'Somebody Is Wrong'. There you have it, the masters will be out on Kent CDs eventually
  13. May 11th Ben; off for some botox now.
  14. That's Sven
  15. Thanks Richard Help is at hand, a copy resides in the Doncaster region of these fair isles and will be winging its way to me when the lad can delve into his discs
  16. That's the one on Popsike Derek, a toughie indeed!
  17. Looks like it's gonna be another Dave Hamilton related toughie!
  18. 1976 release, I could really do with hearing both sides of this please if anyone has one lurking. Ta Ady
  19. You've got a better claim, you're American!
  20. Sorted thanks to Mark W Thanks
  21. Has anyone got one for the 100 Club web site? Ady
  22. Hi Sujka, I believe we met at the January 100 Club when Marcus was playing. That's great news and you've probably knocked two years average age of the 100 Club clientelle in one go!
  23. He's kept that quiet; probably doesn't want an old letch at the bar (me not you of course Ben ). When and where is it?
  24. Decca pressed for UK RCA at that time
  25. Lou Johnson Alternate take of Unsatisfied
