  4. Get down the 100 Club we have a roster of five DJs who rotate (literally) and put two or three guests on at each nighter. They are picked solely because they are good. As I can hadly do any guest spots with a 4 year old to look after at the weekend I'm not looking for reciprocal spots, in fact I'm having to avoid them Ady
  5. I think this thread is about having a go at people who press up 500 copies for personal profit without giving anything to the people who made the records possible in the first place. Most people are into the business side to make money but why not give a rightful percentage to the people who created the goods they are selling, You're right there is a huge amount of hypocrisy on the scene, like the people who bought the releases of a well known gladly departed Northern Soul reissue label who flouted the not very strong licensing laws. They made a lot of money and couldn't be arsed to give it to the singers, songwriters and producers. They got their comeuppance eventually and are now a murky piece of Northern Soul history. With their knowledge and contacts they could have done it so much better, still be doing very good business and have a lot of respect. but they were greedy and thought they were above a law that is there to get a small percentage of the profits to people who earned it. And the people who colluded with them and kissed their bums weren't a lot better. Nobody can be arsed to deal with a fool who makes a one or ten-off carver and sells it on to an even bigger fool, the effort to catch and prosecute jokers like that isn't worth it. If you're bored with this thread maybe you could go and find another one, there's plenty on this excellent site. Leave this one to people who want to discuss a sad part of our scene which makes you feel embarrassed to talk about our interest in the wonderful music to the singers and musicians when you have to then explain that their recordings have been exploited for commercial gain over here by people who have no rights whatsoever to do it. Ady
  6. Not many. I think Cleethorpes is the weekender for most of the rare soul scene, it's probably the best mix of old and new 60s/70s
  7. Maybe I'll start a thread if there isn't one. Next week though.
  8. And would people say that the R&B scene shared a bit with the Northern for a while but has mainly gone off on its own because the devotees now prefer it to Northern, like the Modern lot years ago? Ady
  9. Is the rare soul scene split into different camps regarding the funk edged stuff in the north Joan? Ady
  10. Well we own some of the publishing which has possibly stronger laws in its favour than the bootlegging so keep me posted.
  11. Who did that then Phil? What label? Have you got a scan? Ady
  12. Yeah but an in accurate label, its P Date should be 2006 not 2012 and I'm not sure why it's Copyright Control it's Little People music on BMI. They probably used our audio we spent money on too.
  13. I thought they were all of a similar rarety I hadn't realised any were common from looking through boxes but obviously there was a big overstock on this one.
  14. That's news to me, I'd have hoped to have been contacted about that one out of decency at least. The 100 Club Kent one's the original anyway; so Yah Boo and Sucks.
  15. Thanks John, brilliant record though but.
  16. Can't see it out of 40 titles on Popsike, is it rare or just cheap (Manship has it as funk for £15) Ady
  17. Fantastic stuff John, keep 'em coming!
  18. That's fine Greg, it's a long term project and I'll tell you what info I've accumulated by then too if you nudge me. Cheers Ady
  19. Hi Greg, The problem is I can't read those labels and can only hear the tunes and Scott ain't got back to me so any help would be very appreciated. Cheers Ady
  20. Of course Vintage refugees will be more than welcome at the 100 Club gig this Saturday but be early as it'll be a packer and Nolan will be on stage at 11pm so people can catch their last tubes home or stay on and dance to the best of Northern from me Mick H and Roger Stewart. This had been a 6TS marketing department statement of intent,
  21. Sent you Pat Thomas Dave
  22. Maybe rename it "Ramblings" or as Paul Phillips has got that one "Pontifications"?
  23. If you PM me on the Sunday at Cleethorpes it just ain't gonna happen! Replied now though. Cheers Ady
  24. I'm so dozy, yes that's the one, thanks hugely. If Greg knows of any Dave Hamilton Gospel not on there I'd love to hear about them. Cheers Ady
  25. I've been on it this morning and just had a message from them saying I can't have any other queries today unless I cough up approx $18 for 6 months. Anyone else had this? Ady
