  1. But were the 1969 re-releases driven by Northern fans or British soul fans in general. The scene hadn't become so categorised by then and the (what would be) Northern scene was genuinely tiny, I doubt whether there were more than 2-3000 who knew about all nighters and "sounds" then; not enough to influence London record companies and I don't think even Dave Godin had realised the growth of the movement in early 1969 had he?
  2. Hi Chris, I'd actually move it a couple of years later to mid 1971 for Fascinations on Mojo, the Tams 'Hey Girl Don't Bother Me' on Probe, Tami Lynn on Mojo, Elgins on Tamla, Velvelettes on Tamla as I think they were "Old Soul" and Northern Soul's first hits whereas the others were more in-demand 60s soul reissued for soul fans in general rather than the new Up North Soul Scene: discuss! 4. For Get Away From Here, publishers and any production credits would be handy too. Ta Ady
  5. Thanks Bob, will do. Next week now though. Ady

  7. Thanks Stuart, interesting, if anyone has the flip or a scan I'd love to see / hear thAt too.
  8. Anyone got it and is it any cop? Ady
  9. Thanks Joe that was fine. Ady
  10. Yes please to any of those, we're always working on King stuff so there'll be plenty of opportunities to use them. I'll send you a list of the artists on the next ballads CD. Thanks for the photo, it's good but the scan from Joe is more usable for the booklet. Ady
  11. If it's not inconvenient try a photo, just the label, if it doesn't look too good don't send it, I've got another one that can get here though a bit late now. Thanks Ady
  12. Bob that's fantastic and a first hand experience of the guy too. We'd be super interested in any of the items you mentioned. I'll collate what we've got, what we need and send it to you and Robb. Any chance of sending that You Have My Blessings scan today? Big Thanks Ady
  13. That'd be great Rob, we're doing a project on him and the one-offs sound very interesting. I'll let you know what we've got and what we need. Cheers Ady
  14. Hi Simon, Mr Rounce my JA label expert next door says it could be orig or a boot of an orig or a boot done in Jamaica. We'd love to see a scan to ascertain what it is; very interesting thanks. I'm not sure which you mean on Foxy, which artist? Cheers Ady
  15. Thanks Rob, don't worry I'll need it in the next day or so, it's not crucial. Would you have the second Mary Johnson on Foxy 'Going Home' or either of the Ideals on Paso? And while I'm on Richard Stamz labels howabout Robert and the Rocking Robins on Foxy too? Cheers Ady
  16. Sorry I was rushing, yes Federal please. Ady
  17. Anyone got a good hi res (300 dpi) scAN of You Have My Blessings please? Ady
  18. All fair enough but I think the article writer should have named it "Who Were The Great Soul DJs between 1972 and 1985" as he only attended Northern dos by the sound of it in the 70s and modern dos up to the early 80s. There's been nearly three decades of soul DJs since then.
  19. I would have loved to have been sober when he was on at the 100 Club, I know he was good but it was a bit of a blur. Temps 65 gets my vote.
  20. Please
  21. Where would I find one from 6 months ago? Ady
  22. Robb, Dawn was connected to Richard Stamz, I didn't know about the Ric Williams connection.
  23. The Girl Of My Dreams is more like it, just a male solo. I did think the male part of the duo could be L H but you can't say for sure.
  24. Do you mean Willie? Or did Willie produce Roger?
