  2. And you'll dig it Sean, Memphis goes to Detroit style.
  3. To be fair, its a bit dozy putting this up when nobody can hear it yet. I got a bit carried away, it really is a stunner though.
  4. Putting my knackers on the line here but I think I've just heard the best Northern discovery since Spencer Wiggins 'Let's Talk It Over'. If you've got tickets for the 100 Club this Saturday, you're in for a treat. I've run it by a couple of knowledgeable geezers here at Ace (Tone & Timps) and they concur. 'If I Had My Way' by Melvin Parker. It's going to give the traditional rare 60s soul stomper fraternity a big boost. I'll put 30 secs on the 6TS site next week.
  5. Unless I'm dafter than I think I am, I reckon Barry was asking for titles of records that are big in parts of Europe that we don't realise have "gone big" over here.
  6. That's fine John, Marc has leapt to our aid. Thanks Ady
  7. Nice thought Kris but Marc's next door in Berlin lol
  8. Thanks Marc, will do. Ady
  9. i thought you had it too Steve and I've never seen your collection!
  10. Maybe that infers you already have the demo?? Any chance of a loan if so John? ta Ady
  11. Excellent stuff and he wrote all those classics for Millie Jackson and Garland Green at Spring too.
  12. I adored Drive On James as a teenager, I think I must have heard it on Radio London, quite a few times. It's the epitome of soul for mods for me.
  13. Thanks Steve. Yes John all the Popsike copies are demos
  14. Can anyone loan us an excellent condition copy please? CDs as a thank you. Ady
  15. Tats was probably playing it for Randy Cozens who championed it since its release.
  16. I'd missed that one too and its extra sad as we spoke a few years ago and she said she would have loved to sung here for her soul fans. Ady
  17. bettye told me the one about Diana Ross was on the steps of the Twenty Grand club in Detroit, in front of a big crowd!
  18. Click hung around with the Preston hardcore soulies, prob Dave Malloy and Gaz Kellett. He was rumoured to have an axe inside his sheepskin for footy games and once did a chemist on his drive to court for another charge. I never saw the slightest bit of violence in him and he certainly wouldn't use his extra curicular activities to impress or scare anyone on the scene. Same with Wilky, i always got on well with him, i didn't even know he was a hard case; he and a mate used to rip it out of Rug though, i reckon that's why Rug quit the scene. That's one of the good things about the scene, the tough nuts usually keep it to themselves. When you consider it is a bit like a playground, they don't act the bully. I heard Wilky was in the south west and sold up to a dealer. I ended up with Click's residue when he became God Squad; nothing much good though, he battered all his records, superglued stickers all over them.
  19. I'm with I'm with you on Sam dees, i had 130 copies and there were a lot more around.
  20. Are we allowed to punt on here? I've a mint Ben Atkins for grabs if anyone else was chasing it.
  21. We'll go with that then, I thoght so.
  22. Either the Counts or more likely the Cautions; 'I Want To Hold Your Hand' indeed.
  23. I wrote about 8 pages on it on the original CD but don't think the date of the find is in there.
  24. They arrive at Ace Towers tomorrow but the staff are sworn to secrecy at the pain of having their morning biscuits broken.
  25. You're probably right Pete, I owe my illustruous friends an apology, maybe it was Soul Supply or Charly or one of the others. It was defo a problem I had later with Goldmne but not in 1985. I did call it Jackie Day for that reason, I've still got it, I just can't remember the potential culprits.
