  1. Good comments people, it's a great job but can be frustrating when bootleggers who steal the artists and songwriter's talents get away with it.
  2. I await the day somebody tells me they've got an original Musicor pressing of The Magic Touch.
  3. On a positive note, Chalky's contacts have led to Ace getting in touch with Alice's estate and paying her royalties that had accrued (and will continue to do so) from You Hit Me and Heaven's Will which were GWP productions we bought. We're reviving Heaven's Will on the October Kent CD release "Lost Without You; Best Of Kent Ballads Vol 2"
  4. Play that Natural Resources a couple of times Len and you'll be hooked, it's a beauty; blatant plug.
  5. Is £200 too much then? Mine's VG+ and plays super. Ady
  6. Thanks Kev, I'd seen that, actually i remember somebody sent me some sound files but i think I need a copy for a dub.
  7. Fantastic, no rush at all, I'll PM you. ta Ady
  8. I could do with hearing and/or seeing this please, both sides. Ta Ady
  9. Anyone got a cleanish copy we could borrow? ta Ady
  10. that's very sad. He and his wife were really lovely people and his performance at Cleethorpes was wonderful. He stood like a statue but delivered a remarkable set of deep and very soulful songs. I would have loved to have seen it again. A great talent gone.
  11. 6 am, any later and my life expectancy would plummet.
  12. Many thanks to Sean & Steve for being advisers and sounding boards for a lot of these tracks, as well as spinning a few in advance. I'm no expert in the area so it's great to have a pair on hand who know what they are talking about. However I do genuinely love the music have collected and shaken a leg to it for the past 40 years. The Garland Green track is a great story involving sharing a pint with a fellow fan down the Majestic, Jesse Johnson and Elaine Armstrong are major finds and I'm even digging the early 80s Dave Hamilton productions. Gail Anderson and Street People must be pretty rare and Viola Wills cheapie is just a great record that needs hearing. It's been a pleasure to produce.
  13. Can anyone scan the article in the mag for the first half of the month please? It's one we're missing. Ta Ady
  14. Not quite broken but AWOL. The sound guy from the 100 Club rang to tell me he'd found some records down the back of the stage so I popped down expecting to find some cheapo sales someone had forgotten about and found a dozen of my best oldies, Charades, Marie Knight, Frank Beverly etc!
  15. Marco Santucci left his copy of Gerri Hall on Hot Line sticking out of his playbox and Elaine opened a cupboard door nearby breaking the top off.
  16. No it wouldn't, there was only me playing 'em and I only played about 5 at the most and this one isn't anywhere near to the mark. Nice bit of fun ska/Latin though.
  17. I received this today from Ron Barrett Jr, whose father was one of Arthur's closest friends. " For anyone that would care to know, the services for Arthur G. Wright will be held this Saturday, July18, 2015 at The Centinela Valley Center of the Arts located at 14901 Inglewood Avenue, Lawndale California 90260. Arthur's wife of over 50 years, Marlene Wright is one of the sweetest, down to earth women you could ever meet. I can see why their marriage lasted so long. I am sure because of those personality traits she would never make this request, but anyone that enjoyed Arthur's work, or plans to personally attend the services, on behalf of the family, Star Revue would appreciate, in lieu of flowers, a modest cash donation sent directly to Marlene Wright to assist with the services as well as to donate to several Music Based Charities that Arthur was involved in. There will be seating for 1500 at the center, but for those who cannot attend the mailing address is: Marlene Wright:1911 West 156th Street #8, Compton, California 90220." There don't seem to be any PayPal details so if anyone who doesn't have access to a US bank account wants to donate they could email me at ady.croasdell@btinternet.com
  18. Blimey 6 years ago. It's a shame Winston didn't get to hear about it.
  19. I only want new releases that were readily available, not ones that were big soon after release if your everyday punter couldn't buy a copy easily. I know You Sexy Sugar Plum was only a year or so old but you couldn't find it easily. I went into Fantasy's office in NYC trying to get copies. Didn't Charles Johnson used to cost a lot of money when it was big? Similarly I thought Larry Sanders 'On The Real Side' was hard to get for an everyday oik like me who wanted a copy when it was big. I suppose a test of whether they were accessible would be did Blues & Soul's Contempo and perhaps Select A Disc sell them at import prices when they were at their peak.
  20. As a spin-off from the Greg Perry thread, how many big Northern records, as opposed to Modern that later became Northern, were played when recently released and still available. Big ones only please. I think Jackie Moore 'Both Ends Against The Middle' was but Archie Bell 'Here I Go Again' was probably deleted by the time it was played (could well be wrong there), same with Alfie Davison.
  21. Not that I know of. I wrote a bit about his vocal group with HB Barnum which had some great stories and we are working on a CD of his productions and arrangements but put it on hold while he was poorly. He fought the illness at least once and came back but not this time sadly.
