  1. Brenda Holloway and Sherlie Matthews; pay attention at the back.
  2. Well that's answered that then, any chance of a scan and a tape? Mail me off forum. Cheers Ady
  3. No it would have been the local label before Kent bought it
  4. Thanks Tim, I Just need a Kimberly copy now.
  5. 'Wanting You' Anyone loan me this one for a dub?
  6. I did Craig's show, he was manic and it was a Friday evening so he had to keep powdering his nose.
  7. As it happens I was just mentioning this in some sleevenotes and I need to know if GWP Productions get a mention, who the producers etc are and how many songs were Millbridge publishing. Their later LPs are let downs. There are some good songs on the Born Free LP but awful mixes where you can't hear the great backing. Of course the Soul Superman was mainly the Pied Piper Detroit team that did all the great Lorraine Chandler, Willie Kendrick ETC RCA singles.
  8. Anybody seen or got her Tennessee Waltz/Family Tree on GWP or anything? Not the GWP LP, I've got that.
  9. Top geezers. Fame and fortune coming your way, even though Rachel was beaten to it.
  10. You been away BB. Or is that Cleethorpes lag you're suffering?
  11. Thanks chaps that's terrific. I forgot about the Roulette LRL, any idea of the credits on either side of that one? No luck with Betty Barney yet, perhaps James Trouble's funk chums can help?
  12. I need the writer credits on that. Producer, arranger credits on Little Rose Little on Blue Rock (was she on any other labels?) Producer, arranger credits on Alice Clark 'Heaven's Will', the flip of You Hit Me. All the credits on Betty Barney on GWP. Not asking much am I? Ady
  13. Karen, I'm sorry if I offended you or anyone else. You're right I've got plenty of great memories of Randy. My comments were meant to be affectionate but obviously didn't come across that way to you. Ady
  14. imagine a 'one that got away' situation: you meet, say, george clinton in about 1967. you patiently explain that you've come from the future to eliminate him before he goes bongo-mad. he looks at you quizzically and you explain that he's about to get heavily into funk. what's funk? he asks. foolishly, you tell him. then, as you are about to deliver the coup de grace, your gun jams. george takes a header out of the window, survives and legs it to a nearby studio where he puts into practice everything you've just told him. now that would be a self-defeating bummer, wouldn't it. link
  15. No you're arse over tit. There were two totally separate incidents with different people. The smashed geezer went into Cleethorpes, told the cops everyone was trying to beat him up. When they got there they realised he was nuts and left him there. The punch happened two hours later by a completely different person
  16. I was just thinking how pleased he would have been to see his youngest, Terry, enjoying himself so much at the weekender with a lot of his old Letchworth and Southgate mates. He behaved a damn sight better than Randy did on his last visit too! The other son Paul just rang me up about the Left Banke a 60s pop harmony group; there's always a black sheep. Mick dedicated a few records to him.
  17. That was the aforesaid person who's head had gone. He actually brought the coppers down but they weren't interested when they found out he ws bonkers.
  18. I have in my possession a black ladies jacket with white piping. It's a smallish size as it didn't fit me when a charming French girl persuaded me to wear it at 3 a m Sunday morning. Does anyone know whose it is?
  19. as for Dynamics i was carying the sod!,round all weekend, put it down for a dance, could be anywere now,Ady did say something about records but all a bit fuzzy at mo!....
  20. I've passed the message on.
  21. Kenny's on about what a great job Jim Gilstrap & the New Belles did on Jesse Davis 'Hang On In There' as written by Sherlie. The other geezer who thought he was threatened could have been the knobhead from Hinckley who'd seriously overdone it and thought there were thirty people in the modern room with bottles after him, then forty in the main room. So he stood at the entrance inbetween. Then he brought the cops down who luckily realised he was mental. He won't be coming again!
  22. And let me know, he won't ever be at one of my promotions again. It was a particularly cowardly attack too. I think it's the first one in 13 events, excluding the domestic when a small girl layed into her bigger geezer, so we'll leave it at that.
  23. Regular soul nights, 6TS used to do the Phoenix in Cavendish Square back of Oxford circus. Masses of one or two off pub venues. Tony Smith's Carved Red Lion on Essex Rd ran for a while and there wre a million mod revival soul nights we used to go along to occassionally
