The Jeff barry-Tony Powers song.
I know Tony Williams, Ritchie Dean, Birdie Green and Larry Burns, I'm pretty sure there's another female one. Can anyone add to the list, we've found a nice male soul version that could be unissued but no artist given
Nice one Pete, I think that's a very important column that I've not seen since i bought the mag. It's describing the Old Soul scene, in the main, that then became Northern Soul.
Was on a Goldmine Groovesville CD 053 Could some kind soul send me an MP3 or summat and I'd like to see the credits and comments in the booklet too please.
Cheers
Ady
Anyone know anything about him/her? He's the co-writer on the Four Sonics 'It Takes Two' and I'm sure I've seen his name on some other similar Detroit releases. Let me know if you have anything else with his name on please.
Jackson, Mississippi soul singer Tommy Tate is in his final hours. His friend and producer Sam Kazery informs me he has visited him for the past three days in hospital and he is in decline.
Sam would love to hear anyone's memories of this superb soul singer and songwriter on this site.
As far as I know the 50 year copyright law which was changed to not include 1963 and after, applied to 50 years from the release date. If a 1961 recording was issued in 1963 then it wouldn't become available due to that law change. It's 50 years from the first commercial sale of the music.
I'll try and find out about Universal's odd policy, maybe they were advised wrongly.
