  1. That WD40 usually works.
  2. Thanks Martin, we're getting there just The Equations and the Clare Bathes. I wonder if Mr Guarnori is lurking?
  3. Three down, three to go. Clare Bathe, Leroy Randolph & The Equations still wanted and there's a Joe Simon & Clare Bathe Posse duet I could do with too. Dig deep. Thanks
  4. Thanks Paul and all the rest of you. I'm doubly embarassed with the sentiment and the fact that I look like I'm bumping my thread! Apart from thanking you I'd like to put on record my debt to the inestimable Randy Cozens who got the whole thing rolling and all the DJs who have kept us #1 for such a ridiculously long time: Mick Smith in particular has been with us from the start and Butch and Keith travel miles to entertain you and make the soundtrack special. Plus the staff particularly the current mob Kenny, Winston and Sharon who are all long serving and long suffering and the loonies who go out to a dance that doesn't start until way past their bed times. Cheers!
  5. A scan would be nice in the booklet, I forgot it came out here too. Thanks Ady
  6. You lot have started something, I now need the following scans for info The Equations You Make Me Feel So Good Ronnie Walker Just Can't Say Hello (I need a prisine copy of this for a dub pleeeeeease) Mayberry Movement It's So Good To Know Clare Bathe Turn Yourself Around Posse Leroy Randolph Good To The Last Drop Joneses Baby There's Nothing You Can Do Winfield Parker I'm On My Way Thanks in advance Ady
  7. Frank was at Keb's Lost & Found do last Sat, he's a charming bloke and a serious Northern collector. I'm sure he's looking in his gran's attic for more copies at the moment.
  8. We licensed the label originally but have since bought it so we're having a conversation with the geezer who is selling them!
  9. More thanks, you chaps are great, thanks to Sebastian in particular for the scans. Once I've got my copy of the Posse off Des T the whole picture will be complete. Cheers Ady
  10. But Good Taste, have you compared the GD version of Movin On (That's How it's listed in the discogs JC) with the Joneses' Posse single. Karl M thinks they are the same. J-Brew, we're not in touch with GD but would love to be and will certainly ask about that track (which I can't access on this PC but will later) if we get to him. Thanks to everyone this is great fun as I didn't even know the track was any good. Now I need to know the venues Sam played it at and the names of the people who danced to it.
  11. Thanks Cats, I'm guessing GD is Glenn Dorsey from the Joneses, if anyone knows definitively if it's the same recording as the Posse single that would help me. Cheers PS I loved 'Is The Getting Good' but it's a Mercury not Posse/Spring, recording
  12. It's all too much for me. Presumably 'Summer Groove' is by the Joneses or is it the other lot. The CD's coming out at the end of November so I think we'll stick with Movin On if it's any cop. If there was a Pic Sleeve on the UK issue I'd like to see it.
  13. Brilliant but you're assuming I'm brighter than I am, I might grill you about other versions later. Cheers Ady
  14. Any of you modern type chaps or chappesses have a copy of this flip of 'Beauty' that I could buy or borrow? Cheers Ady
  15. Quip of the day Mikey! I'll take a gross.
  16. Yes and I'm pretty sure NJC came out on US Carnival too. There's a pretty good discog in the booklet of vol 3, but I'm not near it for a while. It's not Joe Evans who lectures, he used to go to a class of a lecturer who found out who he was and wrote a book about him. Joe is VERY old and wouldn't be up to lecturing. Terrific bloke though.
  17. Position 999,999 isn't in the top 100,000 Mr "11 year old" Smith!
  18. If the green one IS really ten seconds longer it must be the original unless it's a legitimate re-press using the master tape which would be pretty unlikely.
  19. That one went under my radar, any chance of a scan and a clip Stevie? Cheers Ady
  20. George Williams of the Tymes was in Canterbury and moved back to Pa and has since died. PP's in Spain. Jimmy Thomas and all three Flirtations are Smoke dwellers and Kenny Lynch shares a flat with Jimmy Tarbuck down the Kings Road (that may not be entirely accurate!)
  21. Peanuts But then again that's what I pay!
  22. Decca Aitkenhead (weird name!) slated it in the Guardian in roughly the same way as we have been having a dig on here! She worked it out just by reading the book!
  23. I wasn't having a dig Billy, I was just pointing out how I remember his scene involvement. I'm happy to be corrected, but I can't remember him losing a fortune on a Skeggy weekender, perhaps I missed it.
  24. He was married or went out with the wonderful Hattie who IS a true Northern fan and knows her stuff, 100 Club, Stafford etc in the 80s (when the 100 was full of wedges). He interviewed me about the 100 Club once and spent the whole time talking about himself, though he's not the only journo to do this at all, including several in NS mags.
  25. He wasn't around through the 80s and early 90s so I doubt if he lost money on soul dos. I thought he lost dosh on other ventures and got it back by jumping on the increased interest in Northern.
