  1. Wow I can't picture that combination it's a very girly song. Cheers Ady
  2. Back between Harboro and the Smoke now but usually to be found at the Colchester soul nights as per the Events forum. Cheers
  3. I Know it's that Tony Smith II going on line after a late night bender!
  4. Wotcher Gavin, Unless you're in Lille, you will be, I'm in Paris! Thanks for the offer but 45cellar is sorting me. Where are you now then?
  5. Thanks, no rush, it's an ongoing thing. Frank's still singing in NYC! I'll PM you. Ady
  6. I'd always pictured them as East coast?
  7. Who's Hazel Martin and were you drunk too? It's not Freddie Ken, he was East Coast.
  8. When you sober up let me know what male version there is of a 100 Club anniversary record by a female singer. Could anyone tape me the LP, I'm working with Frank and Dave Blake and would like to hear what's on there.
  9. Thanks it is a bit of an odd start, i thought our tape was wrong. Cheers everybody, deadline's gone now. Ady
  10. Does it have a weird intro, only half a bar of music before the vocals start?
  11. Now that's what i call service. Thanks kids. Ady
  12. Woah, that's a good one, can anyone verify?
  13. Anyone have a scan and / or know if he's anything to do with Bobby Paris? Ady
  14. What do you want to speed it up for?
  15. Wally Cox also cut a great later version of This Man for Modern via Leo Kulka's Golden State Producers out of SF, there are several unissued cuts including I think the BGP 45 Malc put up. The black guy backing Paul Anka in Vegas was probably him, he's a West Coast charachter (mainly SF) but I don't think he's been seen around for a while.
  16. Hey it's not bad; I like it. Though the fact that that's the first time I've heard it does put it's popularity into context.
  17. And I hear you're cheap.
  18. But Superlove really was for monumental divs.
  19. It's a lot better photo than some of the real ones!
  20. I think it's just that looking back some records aren't that good as Northern Soul records. I love Touch Of Velvet but don't reckon it's a soul record. In the 70s we often only listened to the beat and forgot about the soul side of it. Even in the 60s i loved the super rare Human Beinz and would dance like a maniac to it but it's not very soulful (whereas Mitch Ryder usually is). Interplay and Condition Red ain't that great but Double Cookin and the Cat Walk are. These days Nobody But Me and Pushin Too hard would get played in the mod psych room not the Northern and Touch Of Velvet in the lounge music sofa room for you to smoke your cigar to. So my divvy records for revival are You Get Your Kicks and Ten Miles High
  21. Bung me a fiver and I'll post it up to you as soon as it comes out. PM with details. Unless of course you're after the original UK issue (there wasn't a US Spring single just LP track), then you'll have to wait for a dealer.
  22. Yes of course it is. We gave out 400 free copies at one of our dances for promotion of the records and it worked very well and there were 400 very happy punters. If someone else values the record at a highish price and wants to pay more for it that's their prerogative. Garland's happy because it built up demand for the single and he gets royalties for the increased sales of CDs and this new single. You've highlighted an excellent example of how the system works to the benefit of everyone when done legally.
  23. Yeah but the point is I'd just mentioned that it was coming out on an official legal release, mainly due to all the interest and outrage at bootleggers as debated on Soul Source, so I didn't see the point in mentioning an illegal alternative at twice the price.
  24. Never got it, try me at ady.croasdell@acerecords.com
