  4. Nice one Roger, I've got the promo in some sort of weird brown promo bag.
  5. That'd be the barrow me and later Tony Rounce worked on outside Cheapo Cheapo on Rupert St, you probably bought 'em off me in 73, by then Northern had been in usage for a while though. And what were you doing down Gt Windmill St young man?
  6. Dead right, it was very kind of the idiots to pay all their wages on buying us great records to dance to. It was bloody Wigan that started the star DJ system, the Torch guys seemed totally approachable whereas the wigan DJs sat on the stage with their hangers on and missuses thinking the sun was rising just round the back of them. Round our way Leics, Northants, Beds it was definitely called Old Soul, not very imaginative, so I liked the term Northern as we knew that was the stronghold. The first Northern bootleg label was called Old Soul too and you needed a term for the type of music you liked as soul was still going and you needed the distinction. Godin was totally respected as the only person to give us recognition, he had great knowledge and provided many top sounds and totally got the scene He also gave us an historical background and educated us hugely. Though we did giggle a bit when we heard him talk, (more fools us) it was a much less enlightened world then.
  7. I see you're saying you've not seen an issue. I think mine is I'll check later in the week.
  8. Yeah, pretty sure, I think I've got one, but I'm not by my collection.
  9. It's an obscure Mobile, Alabama label, i've got one somewhere. Same label as Lonnie Robinson Are You sure You Want To Give Me Your Love/Sunshine Baby, mid 70s
  10. Greg Tormo, very kindly sent us the Tommy Smiley scan, just need the Soul Brothers on Sho Biz now. There's gotts be one out there somewhere. Thanks Ady
  11. Goodo send 'em Special D to be safe. A-D
  12. A loan of 'em both if they're Ex/m and more CDs will be heading to your charity bash. It's the Baby You've Got Me Frank Dell You Da Man. 2 down 2 to go!
  13. On Marquee, Valise, You Fooled Me on MGM or Later For You on Sho Biz? I need good scans of the first 2 and a loan of the second 2. Heap plenty silver discs or Kent Town & City 45s to the lucky applicant.
  14. You could have asked me!
  15. Got that one thanks Mike Ady
  16. Excellent; he said in his Mr Burns voice. Just the Larry Atkins now I think. Ady
  17. Wonderful chaps, that's most things I need except the flip of You Just Don't Know, if we include what's arriving through the post. Oh and i need both sides of the Larry Atkins on Romark just to complete the picture. Thanks Ady
  18. Thanks ricky, that'd be handy, if it ain't too much trouble. Though I'd still want the fuller recordings sent by volunteers to be able to compare them in the studios.
  19. Please do, it may be hidden away among your birthday presents.
  20. Good on Yer Jock, I'd love scans and sound files of both sides please. I'll sort you out a special Ace book as I now know you're an avid reader. Pm me your current address somewhere in Yoorp.
  21. Thanks Fellas, keep 'em coming. That's great Ian, but I could do with seeing the All In Vain a bit clearer if anyone's got one and sound clips specific to the versions on each labels would be good too.
  22. Thanks chaps it looks like Jerry Long might be the link there, he's on both of those records. I'd still love to hear the C&C and see the flip too, if anyone is obliging.
  23. That'd be great Mark, sound and scans please, then i can work out what versions to use. There are 3 completely different versions of Lighten Up Baby. Thanks very much. Ian the master tape version of YRMIGTMB will be on the next Kent Northern CD.
  24. I've just heard about the Cathy & Cookie That Man Of Mine on Bit single does anyone have a copy or scan of that one?
  25. The only begging we ever did was for the UK Atlantic Vala Regan, pinned to a record shop ceiling, luckily Tone was a bit lighter in those days.
