The chap's in good spirits and is very pleased with the campaign. I've sent him a link to this thread, so you should get your fiver soon Pete. I think on one of his last shows he wasn't even allowed to say goodbye to his listeners; they're pre-recorded and the Beeb are terrified about any potential controversy.
As it 'appens (sorry wrong radio DJ) Mr Lamarr is popping round to Ace Towers this afternoon for a tour and hopefully a bit of Kent Harris compilation, so if you've got any messages for him i could pass 'em on.

The big bloke looks like Ian Dewhirst impersonating Liam, the birds are a cross between Nat Steele and Hayley from Northampton.
I can't get the sound but it looks like they're dancing to The Champion on ketamine. It was a particularly good night that one.

Thanks John, that would infer that the original mixes didn't make it to vinyl and there is just the remix as the actual release. I'll have to stick the Satisfied Feeling out but not the Baby I'll Come as it's not as good as the release.
Though the remix of Baby I'll Come is better than the original mix, the reverse is true of this great dancer that has more brass on the original. Now has anyone got an original copy that doesn't say Re-1 scratched in the run-out grooves?
Very interesting, I'm now wondering if there was a third geezer as the Tami Young on Modern is part of Arthur Freemans Quad productions which seem to be written by LA associated people!
I've got the one with the matrix RE-1 X scratched in the run out grooves. Has anyone got it without this then I can compare how the remix was to the original please.
As he's not on here, your personal ongoing spat isn't relevant to a discussion about records played on a radio show. Ditto with Crossfire, I didn't look to see if every record was an original or a boot, I do know that the vast majority were originals and I didn't witness any boots.
But if he was playing other people's discoveries that's good that he's not being ego-centric because he could have easily filled the time in just playing his own discoveries, let alone his own productions and he didn't so I think that's a good thing.
Not that I know of, i did pick up a 10" acetate of it years later but it's the same version.
PS I'd love to find Sharon Scott, if anyone has any clues.
I think what's best about the show is that Ian put some very good and very interesting tracks on there whereas a lot of the soul shows that get onto the BBC nationally seem to only feature the top 500 and a couple of oddities. He's featured a lot of tracks that he loves but weren't his discoveries, so fair play to him for that. The Sharon Scott one in particular is a personal fave that doesn't get the acclaim I think it deserves; apart from from the Peterboro perv.
Whoops it has just been pointed out to me that I don't pay the DJs in the little upstairs room at Cleethorpes. This is absolutely true, partly because it's a sort of chill out room for people who are keen to DJ for fun and partly because I was born in Yorkshire.
As it happens I remember lovely Lynn giving me a hard time over that, she was little but not to be messed with and I even paid her. Mind you I think she even asked for wages at BB's Sunday snug which was free admission.
I always pay the 100 Club DJs unless they nip off early when I'm not about and then I square up later, same goes for Cleethorpes. I think I've only ever had one complaint over the amount to my face and that was sorted out. The Cleethorpes DJs were great when I did the first couple at quite a big a loss and they all accepted lower than agreed fees.
As a DJ i just leave it to the promoter to be reasonable and some are better than others so I'll probably DJ again for the some rather than the others. The highlight of my DJing payments was being given an envelope with my pay in it and when I opened it in the taxi ten minutes later found a fiver in there!
European promoters are usually very good, but then again they like me more out there. They've probably not seen my atrocious behaviour at dos over the years.
