  1. Dave will know but again I thought it came out of this incredible trunk load of 45s Dave Burton got off Cas from Warners in 1971. i also thought the original Cooperettes came from there but perhaps it was the second or third.
  2. Yes as one side of one of the early anniversary freebies as I discovered it in NYC on an original acetate and it had no name or writers or anything and we thought it was unissued and would never turn up. It must have taken 8 years before it did turn up.
  3. Kiki Dee was me to Clarkie. Terrific Randazzo Weinstein song in the only known recorded version. I'm not sure whether I did Too Many People too, Ian Clarke might remember.
  4. Put me down for Burning Bush, great record and what a symbolic title.
  5. Mick's not having that one, he threw it away! i thought it went to Clarkie but you could well be right. In Mick's defence he did discover a little tune called Landslide
  6. Dave Burton not Dave Rivers had the second copy (or was it the first?) of Fullers, sold to Minsh at the Torch for about £60, I don't think Dave R would have had the first. Pete Wid persuaded Roger Stewart to play Esther Philips down the 100 Club first and Ted Taylor on Okeh about the same time.
  7. Can you stick some sound up on it (are we allowed to do that?) I think I've got a different take of it.
  8. Not me as far as I remember, maybe Ian Clark or Tony Rounce who worked there as well.
  9. Carl, thanks for the info I'll check with Tom later, I checked on the other unreleased Westbounds with him. Ady PS couldn't work out how to reply to your SS message
  10. Thanks people. We have a REPORT OF ONE not verified yet; watch this space!
  11. Two more unverified listings #s 141 and 142, both gospel
  12. Though the producer Billy Jackson says it was Tommy Keith.
  13. Yeah sorry the group were later called the Waves but were the Tandells at the time of recording the original from which the backing track was used as Double Cookin'. Damn right on the OVO too.
  14. Bobby Wells The Psychedelic Theme (but I love Let's Cop A Groove too, so I'm cheating). Not sure how The Magicians is dire Simon, fair enough if you prefer the instrumental but it's a full on great vocal group performance with excellent lyrics; technically the Waves 'Is It Love Baby' was the original I think. Pete there is a Rita inst out on Kent Select, I'm not sure if that's what Paul sent you.
  15. Masterpiece and shouldn't cost you more than a tenner, it's quite a common record.
  16. Oh dear; terrible news. A true collector who was always happy to share his knowledge and enthusiasm.
  17. And still not bragging, I discovered that first one in Billy Jackson's flat, years after I'd put it out on CD. The tape box had Walter Johnson and the label had Walter Wilson but neither are correct, it's actually Tommy Keith. The flip is superb and is also out on CDKEND 149, the dancer is on 104
  18. i don't like to brag:lol: but first played by me off a master tape.
  19. Well i didn't know the little rascal was a serial offender. The one to Sidra's was very good but the vocals were way too high in the mix and he didn't have the separate channels to even them out otherwise I'd have played it.
  20. Will pass the distribution comment on. HMV used to be the best source of Ace/Kent. ta Ady
  21. See above
  22. Not true; we (Kent) more than earn our way within Ace, we don't benefit financially from being a part of the larger organisation (it's still relatively small scale approx 15 employees). Sales are very healthy and we have dedicated customers who enjoy most of our output along with occasional buyers who will pick the CDs that tickle their fancy.
  23. I think that's particularly bad and particularly illegal as they are bootlegging the artwork and my bleeding notes presumably! The matter will be looked into. Thanks.
  24. What a great idea, but you could come up to the Oxford Street pavement and talk bollox to Winston with your headphones on for a bit of atmosphere.
  25. For some reason the Curtom pressing wasn't in our database, most unusual. The vocal was credited as written on the Brunswick/Dakar tape box but I'm sure Carl should know what's what.
