  1. Yeah Old Time Lover rings a bell; I'll assume it's that. thanks. Incidentally who's spinning it and where?
  2. Now I'm very confused. It's an early Dial not Pneumonia and someone told me it was fetching a ton so it must be getting a lot of plays but not down here! Perhaps it's one of those benji, Gareth or Seb mentioned but I'd like to narrow it down if poss. Ta for the help Ady
  3. Of the last one to go allegedly over a ton since I Wanna Be Free?
  4. Who'd want one, they're a bunch of bullies who don't know what a fair scrap is. Both times I've had trouble with them it's been lots on to one.
  5. Bradford squire; hence my witty riposte.
  6. Well Matt was Northern so he was halfway there. Spandau's wrote 'Gold' after me playing that Jack Jones record to them.
  7. As it's Tobi we might sell out but probably not until just before the event; you're fine at the moment and for your payday. Details are on www.6ts.info Cheers Ady
  8. Soon to be a national hit once it's featured in that Northern Soul film you're all so excited about.
  9. Expect an Email Mr Flynn!
  10. I worked for Mick Parker at the Camden Palace in the 80s and I thought he said the Brit was his place but I could be wrong. He's still about though retired. Anyone got any reminiscences of the Nite Owl, I went to the Il Rondo and saw Howlin' Wolf but never made the Nite Owl.
  11. Does Tony mention it in the sleevenotes of Al's Kent CD?
  12. Vicky is a nice girl who came along to the last Cleethorpes. She is serious about this and originally wanted to learn people's individual dances that they struggle to do as effectively nowadays due to the ravages of time. I'm not sure if this is the same project but she is treating it seriously and giving it respect. it would be interesting if she could learn how to dance say like Angie in her teenage years, I'm assuming your dance style is slightly toned down now Angie? I put Vicky in touch with Sue Price from Abingdon who was a fine mover and spinner, I'm not sure how that went.
  13. Great info chaps on a label that we own but is a nightmare in getting the right tapes. Do you Brett or MShoals have any of the non-soul stuff there's a lot of 50s and early 60s we need originals of to compare to the tapes. Is anyone a Dore completist? Ady
  14. I thought it was poor when i read it, if it's the one that reckoned he used to hide his gear in a pork pie (not the hat either). He also inferred certain types of pork pie were cooler than others.
  15. I hope he's not in my bed. Clapton being serious now, I'm defo off
  16. That Maggie Bell should have done Frankie & Johnny I'll Hold You or is that a myth?
  17. It's tailed right off now I'm gonna get some nighter sleep in for tomorrow. To be fair to all of these TV rarely catches a quarter of how good a group or act is. They're usually too late. Whoops Freddy King the dogs bollox
  18. In theory yes, in practice it's a badly played and sung dirge. There were as many bad black acts as white. Admittedly he was 50 years past his best.
  19. My fave Brit blues acts were Savoy Brown, Ten Years After, Chicken Shack, Cream and I liked some prog ones like Colloseum, King Crimson, Fairport Convention, Tull and of course lots of American ones especially the ultimate: LOVE!
  20. LJB's playing a stinker of a Stormy Monday, perhaps I'll re-listen to T Bone
  21. It was a brilliant live scene as a teenager you'd see all these really great groups for a few bob. And Howlin' Wolf and others touring. I don't get T Bone Walker.
  22. With top 100 Club boozer Mick Avery on drums.
  23. Just caught the white Brit stuff but gotta admit I was a huge fan of that as well as the black US originals. I saw Cream in 1966 at Manchester Uni for 6 bob with a totally unknown Jethro Tull supporting on a small stage. I was actually more impressed by JT though they were both great. They didn't mention the best lot The Family from Leicester.
  24. Not mixing it up with the Decca 45 that was poorly recorded are you Chalky, she'd be unlucky to have two stinkers out with her name on it!
  25. For my J&S projects. Ta Ady
