Kelmarsh disused railway station Northants May 1969. I'd enjoyed a poorly attended soul disco (Otis, Temps etc) early in the evening then 100 skinhead blokes and girls arrived and the music changed to records I'd never heard before but were still great soul. The skins were friendly (I was a long haired skinhead, a unique tribe at that time) and I danced away merrily on my own (the rest of my mates had gone home early). Ironically I was used to dancing on my own from underground/hippy dances where me and my mate would go bonkers idiot dancing; that and I was terrified of gurls! After that I didn't look back.
Great stuff Mike and his elves. My life would be much harder and much less fun without you. The sharing of knowledge is a wonderful thing (particularly from my starting point)
Funnily enough there was a small "incident" at the 100 Club on Saturday due to a misunderstanding and people being a bit bolloxed. The overwhelming conclusion was that everybody's very happy to see younger people who are into the music and they can dance how the hell they like. Many are brilliant dancers and if you look at some of us older chaps, there's not too much competition anyway. pogoing's fine as long as it's vertical and doesn't use up extra floorspace (I have been known!)
I've seen a scan of a boot of the label that says pressed under license on it (not from the label owners) but can't see it for sale on Ebay or Amazon. I see Rudzi has it in Leicester and another site but it doesn't seem to be about much. Any idea who did it and when? PM if necessary.

Only the Kent Select (City prefix) are limited, I think five have sold out completely so far, but some of the regulars (Town prefix) sell out over time too.
I just sent you wholesale contact details; if anyone else needs 'em just ask.

My story is we're doing a Darrow CD and have licensed it from the owners Ray Charles' Crossover productions. I have been sent a CDR by them with a track called 'Together'on it and want to see if it's the released version or even a different song.

There were lots of great Corby girls. Liz was the pill expert, had a copy of Mimms at her gaff. I was smitten by Cathryn & Liz and still have all nighter letters from them, written on a Monday to me at uni, telling me all about their weekend up north.
Pete i'm not even sure Mark gets all the 45s we put out, as they're limited very few indeed go out as promo, 10 each at the most
I'll get you wholesale details on Tiuesday, everyone's free to make an order, just ask on the Ace web site or pm me
Cheers

I bought them, I even bought the very first one, I had no idea what a bootleg was. It probably got the sounds to the punters much quicker but you could have a theoretical argument that the scene would have lasted stronger longer as they were booting stuff before it had gone big in the end.
No excuses since the 80s though when people worked out how to do it legit.
