  1. SORTED FOR THIS NOW , THANKS
  2. Any one help with this , looking for a ex. copy at least at a reasonable price ?
  3. Remember as a teenager back in the 70s, like many others, buying the 200 soul packs , me and my mate used to go halves on them , we would inevitavely end up with about only 20 records that we thought were any good , so I ended up with a bedroom full of records nobody wanted . My Mum kept giving me earche to get rid of them. As we lived literally a stones throw from the river Nene me and my mate used to frisby handfulls of them into the river from a distance ....they fly for miles!! anyone else tried it .....God knows what ended up in there...I shudder to think

  10. Did'nt ya ever wake up in the middle of the night on the days you were plaing Stoke Pete. ** Wolves v Stoke, Staffordshire's best derby game by far for me.
  11. If they are being produced in large numbers surely trading standards would be interested they are usually quite hot on that kind of thing or are they operating under some kind of loop hole?
  12. Respect your views , no offence taken ...maybe I am being a bit naive but is it that one or two people are producing them on mass then selling them to dodgy dealers or are dealers getting them done for them selves its just that most are offered for less than ten quid and i would of thought it would be quite expensive to get small batches of records pressed then print labels etc. and listing fees....if a few indviduals are responsible for producing them on mass then maybe its these people that should be sussed out and reported ?
  13. Think they will go out of business wether ebay stop them or not , have watched a lot of these type of modern boots recentley on ebay none of them ever seem to get bids . I just cant work out who would be buying them, can only be a handful of people at best, cant see any one making much money out of that.
  14. Thanks for all the replies , but no one has answered the question yet ....has any one on here who owns a copy checked to see if it was my old copy? now i have seen the scans posted up mine was one with the scripted text i thought this was the smaller text one didnt realize they did one with a smaller block text only thought they did the large block text . As said I know this is a long shot but its for sentimental reasons i would like to know ....sorry to be a pain ...if it was my old copy it would have JB OR JEM scratched into the deadwax .....thanks
  15. Good news is though not many of them seem to be selling , makes you wonder why they bother
  16. Mate I honestly dont know I just would be suprised if he was that informed about the N.S. scene
  17. Maybe I am missing the point here but ,is or was He ever into Northern Soul or the scene eg. attend events etc. cos surely to offer an opinion you would have to base it on some facts or something you had expierenced ,not just a feeling you may have.
  18. Put simply, probably because as a ratio per capita there is not that many people into the music in this country and also percentage wise black people ( i assume you are reffering to people of west indian origin ) are still a minority population in this country. I take your point though and do have a theory my Mother in law came to Britain in the mid 60s from the West Indies and bought along her record collection, current things that were being listened to in Her home country mainly Ska , Rocksteady etc. Her and her fellow expats used to organise parties in this country and listen to all this kind of stuff . creating their own scene. The music She liked was almost indiginous to her country so i suppose it helped in dealing with the inevitable homesick blues. She was still young enough to latch on to Northern Soul when it took off but She didnt as She could not really identify with it and i think this strong sense of identity is passed on hence the next generation were more into reggae, dub, funk etc. and the next rap etc. American 60s/70s soul or as we phrase it Northern Soul was intended to appeal to a wider more affluent nation with different agendas to most West Indian people so i think it kinda went over their heads....thats all
  19. LAST CHANCE ON THE ONES STILL FOR SALE, EBAY BOUND ON MONDAY
  20. Bit of an odd request maybe, but i was on another thread on hear talking about finding records you used to own . I sold a copy of the Ivorys to Glen Bellamy back in the early eighties , it was the smaller text less rare one. Back then I dont think it was considered that rare , but as not that many copies seem to be available I would love to know where it ended up as it is one of my favourite oldies , it is distinguishable as i would have scratched "JEM" or JB in the run out/ deadwax ......long shot I know
  21. DREAM MERCHANTS , BARBARA LYNN , MARGIE JOSEPH ....SOLD
  22. Prices dropping ...The way I see it is ...still some records fetching stupid money but these are usually the tunes fast track wanna be djs are falling over them selves to own...... crazy! but also i think some people are speculating records on the pre tense that ....not worth saving money at the moment due to economic climate etc. so might as well invest in vinyl cos traditionally it dosent tend to loose much value if you buy right and just like collecting. Good news is that loads of stuff is getting overlooked so some great bargains to be had. Which I think is healthy and if the scene does move forward this is where it could come from , years ago before all the internet etc. I brought cheap records from various lists blind , just because I liked the sound of the title or artist... ok some were shite but at least it got the old grey matter moving also like a lot of others i had the 200 single packs from soul bowl etc. again some crap but it got me and i guess hundreds of others listening and opening our ears to the music. Linda Jones? defo in my top ten but would never imagine it being any more than £30.00 on British but there you go.
