Please please please! no more arty farty flyers , personally i am sick to death of seeing flyers with totally non related stuff on them , for instance i saw one a little while back with a bloody great big lorry on it . "whats that all about "i cant even remember what venue it was advertising ...a bit like some of the surreal adverts on tv just annoying, if i dont know what it is trying to sell in the first few seconds then i aint interested . I have dealt with advertising all my working life so understand the concept , but if you are trying to sell us a "soulnight " then just tell us,its not expensive perfume your trying to flog ....so answer to the question , my advice keep it simple use the forums etc. if a few people come to your event and they like it then they will tell a few more etc.......word of mouth ! thats how it used to be and is still the best reccomendation........believe me i have tried all the other options .......

Diificult one this , but I would suspect that it dosent make that much difference to peoples choice purely because of the volume of events that are on at any given time all over the counrty . The exception to the rule i would say are the long established well run events such as Market Harboro (allready mentioned ) that are yearly fixtures that become a date not to be missed. Couple of other points.... events that blur the boundries to put it mildly in order to swell there own coffers . I personally find deplorable. To me it is quite simple ....if something is billed as" all profits" or in "aid of" then it should mean just that and all monies should go to that cause and it should be a registered charity. There is another acceptable way of doing it anyway ...thats called " fundraising " if you just want to raise some funds for whatever your chosen cause is . Then bill it as this, you dont have to give all profits to the cause but just make a donation ...however I still think you should at least try and make public the figures so people that have paid for their ticket can see what has gone where ...simple really just dont take the piss out of peoples good nature ! Lastly on the subject of FREE BOOTLEG CDS at charity events , one thing that troubles me is that if the event is for a pucca charity , surely the trade of illegal matter to raise funds for them would bring the registered charity into disripute , therefore they could'nt accept the money ? "

Before the bullets start flying this is meant to be a humourus/ ironic thread to try and lighten the mood a bit Was just thinking aloud really , as a co promoter of this event for the last 4 years I cant help but notice , that since the word go every events thread that has ever been on ss about it - and that is probably all of them , from the word go , has had someone kick off or moan about something, not complaining about that ,this is a public forum after all and not asking for sympathy or the like , just find it quite funny really and ironic as conversely we have never really had a bad night there. Just wondered wether any other long running soul night could beat our record

Sorry mate but you cant be too careful , from what i remember there was a boot done with a poor looking maroon label sound quality poor and different b side and also pretty sure there was one with a similar green label but lettering was wrong ...my original is dark green gold lettering .....but you cant have it

Would have thought £80.00 to £100 for a genuine original .....didnt this have a quite authentique boot done?

Wondered if any one on here knows where i can get some good quality white card record sleeves (7inch) . I have bought some off ebay recentley from seperate dealers and they were shite - white on the outside but grey on the inside and very flimsy. I used to get them from a guy off ebay 5 or 6 years ago and they were great (white inside and out), but have lost His details......any help would be greatly appreciated !

For me would be one of the many tapes Tony Parker did for me back in the early 1990s ....including such things as Phil Terrell Gambrells Masquaders Groovettes Springers Topics Gloria and Tiaras Jimmy Gresham Trannells Rotations George Lemons Arabians Four Vioces etc. ....all new to me then and at the time mindblowing !

Love the tune have played it at the Pembo a couple of times last one being this Saturday ..good records dont need to cost much think i paid £15.00 for mine a couple of years ago
