  1. Not sure about the "new although legitimate" bit personally Paul.... I'm assuming these are Soul City, Grapevine, Sevens, etc., that you're meaning.... Think my "original" stance is more 1st issue be it US or UK and 45 or LP only track.... I know the 1st issue can mean 2 of them if being padantic, i.e. local and national or different labels east or west, etc., in US, but you get my drift.... I'll just add that, more so in the case of Modern Soul, CD also if that's the song's 1st issue.... purpose made vinyl for unreleased stuff is always the more "iffy" one to get agreement on... Not everyones idea of what's original I suppose.... just mine.... and perhaps a few others.... Soulfully.... Mark
  2. We got there .... I understand and I was the same when younger (a lot ).... buying my NS from local shops, etc., and from venues in the belief they were OK.... in fact I was naiave enough as to not know boots were about .... It's like most things.... you live and learn.... I will just add I don't agree with you on the "having nothing against a DJ playing reissues, album tracks, CDs or whatever - unless it's at a 'rare soul' event of course" comment.... I do accept it happens at certain venues but I don't agree with it.... I have everything against it so don't go to venues that do.... doesn't mean I just go to progessive nights as there are a number of "oldies" venues that don't do it.... for me it's not oldies versus progressive it's playing originals only as opposed to not doing.... Suppose we will just differ in opinion on that one .... Soulfully.... Mark
  3. Hi Paul.... Being a realist is perfectly acceptable.... to that degree I am and I accept what your saying here about not being able to tell people what to do, etc., but that's not what I'm questioning.... It's the acceptance and advocating of DJs playing them out that I don't get.... by all mean be a realist and "accept it happens" but surely actually "agreeing" with it, which is how your coming across, is another thing altogether.... As I said when I first asked you about this.... I just found it strange for you to actually express "it happens so it's OK" rather than "it happens but it's not OK".... the latter can be expressed without "telling people what to do" and so stating the previous instead.... Just how I see it Paul and I thought you would.... Soulfully.... Mark
  4. Was the FP one that cracked one on US ebay Baz.... If so how's it play.... thought about it myself but decided to leave alone....
  5. Paul.... thanks for your honest reply.... I think Steve's reply re double standards, stated stronger than perhaps I would have , is what I was thinking .... I know you say you can't tell others what to do, and that others will buy and DJ with them no matter what, but I not sure I get the acceptance of one and not the other.... that's why I asked.... Just my thoughts though, as I know yours are yours, though obviously differing in approach..... Soulfully.... Mark
  6. Paul.... never mind my own view, I'm intrigued and a little confused with your view on the playing of "boots" having read your replies throughout this thread.... I say this because you, quite rightly, lambast bootlegging of records in other threads where the topic of bootlegs and bootlegging is mentioned.... yet within this thread you seem to be saying ther's no harm in playing them, almost advocating it is OK to bootleg in what you say.... Surely to suggest playing "boots" is permitted, no matter what type of venue it is at, is to "accept" bootlegging as a practice.... as you can't play them if they aren't made.... now as you can see, this is where my confusion over your thoughts on it transpire from bearing in mind your business.... as you can't, in my opinion, accept one without the other.... If I've read wrongly into your accepting playing "boots" I apologise but that is how I'm reading it..... Soulfully.... Mark
  7. >> PREVIEW << Seems it's going to be the "usual" under 5 minute thing thrown in at the end of other content..... that'll be 7.55 until the credits at 7.58 then ....
  8. .... wasn't being picky, honest.... not trying to get you "in trouble" .... Seriously.... only asked because of what I understood and I thought you might "know" something different.... So "second issue" it is then as that's what used on ebay to cover all bases
  9. Is the Silver a "boot" Sebastian.... I understood it was a company reissue....
  10. I bet you've waited and waited for that question to be able to use that reply Sean .... Gold label as Sean says.... Silver label about £20ish I reckon...
  11. Real....
  12. Especially "She Won't Come Back" on Hesitation Members page
  13. Don't know if came out twice.... thought it was just a case of different flip on the demo and issue.... JM lists "I've Gotta Find Out For Myself" as the flip on the issue and "Need Your Love" as the flip on the demo.... just assumed this was a typing error in the guide as I have the issue which has "Need Your Love" as the flip....
  14. An obvious one, title wise, and an "anthem" to boot.... Time Will Pass You By (Tobi Legend)....
  15. Ah.... but Dave.... should you not have created a Flirtations discography under, er, F.... instead of adding it all under Gypsies which is, er, G.... hence me not looking at the bleeding obvious finding the list .... That's my excuse anyway ....
  16. Not a discography as such but some info on releases and other stuff here.... > HERE <
  17. I just read all this as a film about "love/romance in 74" set against the "backdrop" (excuse the pun ) of the Northern Soul scene and it's music which was of that time.... it's not a Northern Soul film per se but just a film with Northern Soul in it IMO.... The use of the "Souled Out" title used to reflect the "choice" of the musical genre used within it is probably a clever marketing ploy to give it "appeal" to the NS fraternity.... hence all this debate and questioning on here.... Irrespective of all that I do agree that if using NS as a "musical background" to the story then it should use original material throughout it to justify it's marketing.... Just my thoughts ....
  18. > this one < here I think Chalky.... As Sharon said.... getting beyond "overkill" around those parts and surrounding areas.... an observation I've noticed about the Midlands also, East and West.... At least your back on the right side of the border now pal .... welcome "home" ....
  19. There is Alan.... you just got to look closely under the ring wear "muck" on label ....
  20. Both releases have the same "b" side if that's what's throwing you.... Soultown 106 - Little Helen - More And More b/w What About Me Boy Soultown 108 - Little Helen - Can't Get Enough b/w What About Me Boy Presume the official A side, What About Me Boy, was released twice with different flips....
  21. Sam Dees.... another that fetches £300-500 depending on where you look, who's selling or "time of the year" Beeks.... Rewrite it where ever you've rewritten your Jeanette type of want ....
  22. Updated and reduced....
  23. Been asked to put the following two records up for sale.... HERB WARD - Hands Off She's Mine b/w If I Pray - Buddy - Ex - £80 £70 + your preferred postage FANTASTICS - High Note b/w That One - Sound Stage 7 (Demo) - Ex - £70 £60 + your preferred postage If interested then just PM me or send an email to mark@vaultofsoul.co.uk and I'll get back to you with his number to sort it out ....
  24. Mandy.... When it happens you'd be better starting a new thread saying so.... I think moving this thread means folk will have to scroll through all these previous posts to "find it's actually happening" rather than "checking out" a new thread stating the occuring event and all the info with it.... So you don't miss interested parties.... Just a thought like.... Soulfully.... Mark
