  1. They are obviously bootleg copies boys, those Scepters that is, if Mr Manny isn't aware of it ....
  2. Give the seller a break.... he's obviously just misread his JM guide and dropped a line with his finger whilst checking the price.... probably ended up looking at the "no one to love" price .... bless ....

  4. .... sorry Steve but that made me giggle pal.... but keep the record.... it's only a game remember .... On topic.... it'll be one of those you'd regret selling immediately after if you did.... and not easy to replace IMO....
  5. You're not thinking of selling it are you Steve ....
  6. I wasn't suggesting he is any more authoritative on the topic than the members on here Bob.... was just pointing out yet another slant, theory, whatever you want to call it, on the auction of a FW.... with (supposedly) JM quotes..... Anyway, I reckon by the time this thread, and other write ups elsewhere, concludes there will probably be more words than in War & Peace ....
  7. Well from the link to Goldmine's blog in the News Articles section it seems from the write up (part of it below) not to be "a third copy".... the gist of the blog indicates it's going to be Kenny's copy up for auction.... although I know folk have stated within this thread that Kenny said it wasn't for sale.... More "ifs and buts" to add further intrigue to it then .... and of course add several more pages to this thread now .... Holy grails don't get any holier than this, especially for Northern Soul acolytes. Going up for auction, starting March 14, is one of only two known copies and the only one in acceptable playing condition of Frank Wilson's "Do I Love You (Indeed I Do)," considered by many to be the most valuable ultra-rare 45 record in the world. U.K. dealer John Manship (www.raresoulman.co.uk), who specializes in Northern Soul rarities, is holding the auction of this prized item which stands to fetch somewhere in the neighborhood of $40,000. Manship thinks it may " I repeat, may " go all the way to $100,000 (some think the writing on the label could lower the value, but others don't believe it will affect it in the slightest). "I definitely have two bidders willing to go to £25K U.K.," says Manship. "And there's a U.S. guy who wants to own it." > LINK TO THE FULL GOLDMINE BLOG <

  9. Quick search shows Beggin' came out on Philips 40433 in 1967 with flipside Dody....
  10. As said.... vg plus.... altho descibed as "some light surface marks. check the soundfile, it plays flawless".... so perhaps still a bargain.... That was my first and only initial thought Paul as stated on price list post ....
  11. Tonight's finishing prices for anyone interested.... Rufus Lumley - I'm Standing (UK Stateside demo) - £491 Edwin Starr - I Want My Baby Back (UK Tamla Motown demo) - £149 Florence Ballard - It Doesn't Matter How I Say It (It's What I Say That Matters) (UK Stateside demo) - £72 The Chandlers - Your Love Makes Me Lonely (Col Soul) - £521 The Colt 45's - Lady, Lady (Jerry) - £450 Fortson & Scott - Sweet Lover (Pzazz) - £720 Holly St. James - That's Not Love (ABC demo) - £709 The Yo Yo's - Gotta Find A New Love (Goldwax) - £80 The Mustangs Of Austin, Texas - Tender Loving Care (Stangs) - £307 Kris Peterson - Just As Much (Top Dog) - £123 Freddie Lowe - Decisions (Sirocco promo) - £507 The Satin - Your Loves Got Me (Shell) - £533 The Original Matadors - Golden Leaves (Adore-Me) - £77 Tony Daniels - I Won't Cry (Beval) - £892 Ray Alexander Technique - Let's Talk (Lu Jun LP) - £132 Blues & Soul - Monthly Review Mag, #11, Aug 68 - £18 My only comment would be.... how the fook can a girly 6Os pop tune (HSJ) be nearly as much as the exquisite sounds of Fortson & Scott.... just an opinion ....
  12. Most sellers do put a within time on the sales info Dave.... 7, 10 or 14 days are what I've usually seen.... For those that don't put a time frame, then I've not seen "an ebay rule" as such.... suspect it's "normally expected" within about a week tho....
  13. Yes Paul, should have had your wife read the thread to see my first post mate .... but you can watch it again via iPlayer.... >> HERE << Shop footage starts after about 1 min....first "spot" of Torch badge about 1.30 mins.... all boxes "appear" at about 2.35mins.... Shameful, definately, but obviously the "cheap" stuff .... and probably hid the book from the cameras Dave .... p.s. having not seen you.... all the best for this New Year to you and your Bri
  14. Agree with that sentiment re the show.... But did anybody else find themselves label scanning and shelf looking when he was in People's Records.... and then spot the two or three boxes with the word "Northern" on what seemed like different patch style badges.... causing a rewind with the Sky+ .... or was I alone on that one ....
  15. Joints as in venues.... I'd say Josephines here in Sheffield.... Monday nights circa 79/80 until mid 80's.... classy joint in its day with a dress code to match.... always remember waiting for the "blackboard" to appear outside in about late spring saying "no jacket required" (due to heat inside).... managemewnt hated it because their idea/opinion was that blokes in jackets didn't fight .... and thought it was "safe" to lift the dress code in the summer due to it being "too hot" .... Anyway, tunes on the decks.... mmmm.... New York Skyye, Kinky Foxx, Surface, MTume, etc., along with a few commercials like Luther, Booker Newbury, etc., but with no real "pigeon hole" regarding the genre played for the night.... just damn good, danceable 80's soul including the current jazz funk, rare groove and more "underground" tunes of the time.... Oh, and then it was Chubby's for the kebabs afterwards of course.... either paying for a single one or buying double.... people that went will know all about what I'm saying .... Memories, memories, flooding back of that time.... start at Clifton Hall (Rotherham) on the Friday for NS.... end up Mondays at "Josies".... with summat Sat and Sun where ever (listening/dancing to what ever, NS or newer soul type stuff) in between....
  16. As Toby said.... Chalky compiled one within a thread of answers/suggestions.... > POST HERE < May be others stated after this post ....

  23. Lost track of what was first and what was last of the recent "16 or so" up for grabs.... "Gi us a clue" and I can then sort though for you....
  24. Doubt it would have been one the residents because that would have been Castle Park your on about.... and the residents were Terry and John who are now at Earl of Doncaster where they moved.... not their style.... may ask after a trune but not go through a box.... Terry buys his own odd bits of Modern stuff that he has an ear for whilst John is mainly a 60s/70s/oldies man.... reckon it would have been a guest, although perhaps a regular one.... know most of them that have guested in the then Modern room and I'm struggling to think who it may have been.... Interesting.... and intrigued....
