It is quite ironic that those words of yesteryear or still very much relevant today but I don't think it was so much "the oldies thing" per se Phil.... more like the origins of the "I like what I know and I know what I like" mentality.... It's strange how a lot of, if not all, the "alternative" 60's tunes that Sam mentions in the piece are now part of the present day "I like what I know and I know what I like" scene, or "same old same old" and "top 500" nights as often referred to these days.... So with that, perhaps the more underplayed or alternative sounds of today will be part of the "I like what I know and I know what I like" mentality scene in another decade or so .... Mind you, I have to smile at his references to the current funk and disco of those days, in the last paragraph, from someone who plays house type stuff (today's disco) on the scene today ....

These days most Modern venues now advertise as "70's to Y2K".... so that's saying Modern venues "pick" which 70's and Xover tunes are Modern and which are Northern.... Personally not sure how opening up a playlist backwards to include 30+ year old tunes (70's and Xover) can still be classed as a Modern nite in the true sense.... seems this advertising practice came about when most Modern fans were saying good new releases where not being produced as often as once was.... So with this both sides will always meet.... It's all opinions of course .... Oh, and I'm not including that boom boom house stuff in this which the Modern boys just pinched from today's kids ....

No good putting a "MyEbay" link up.... just takes people to their own "MyEbay" not yours.... Open an item.... then open list link for all other sales.... copy and paste that one ....

I've only got one question.... Those that say they don't like/won't use/hate/whatever re PayPal.... why have an account to start with then FFS.... Now the easy answer for you.... delete it, drop out, or do whatever and however you choose to not have one.... simple.... it ain't scientific to do so is it.... then you'll have nowt to moan about, you can just say "I don't have an account".... Maybe the truth is you actually "like" having an account because it's the easiest way to pay.... but then "hate" it when selling as to receive money may cost a fee depending on options chosen.... PayPal.... bit like Marmite.... you either love it or hate it.... you can't do both ....

True Steve.... so probably should have said "usually" or "mainly" re US imports as there were the odd exceptions back in the early 80's when I collected them....
-
Initially the UK 12 was done at 45rpm and the US imports were 33rpm.... However, when tracks got "lengthened" by remixes or extended mixes in the UK, these were then often also done at 33rpm as to do them at 45rpm would have "compressed" the groove so losing recording quality.... So, the speed of the 12 was/is often dependent on the length of the track.... As for being able to "guess" the speed on unmarked 12s.... not easy, but you do tend to find the ones with a "larger" run out will be 33rpm.... also will be 33rpm if two tracks on on side....

This will probably be that the sender has their bank account linked to PayPal rather than a card.... this means payments are by "eCheque" and take "upto" 10 days as PayPal claim the money from that person's bank.... bit like the time it takes for withdrawals from PayPal to reach your account.... it will show as "cleared" when completed and then can be used, drawn, etc.....
-
Richie.... check with sender what service he used and check > HERE < for further info on time frame, etc..... if you get a receipt number as well then > HERE < might help....
-
Trev.... it's free if using PayPal balance or direct from a bank account linked to PaPal.... small charge (option of who covers it as you got) for using debit/credit cards linked to it.... see link below https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-fees you have to be logged in to see page so copy and paste link after doing so
