The stamp in the run out groove mentioned on the original Colin is small and looks like "pes".... that's what you have to look for.... Booted twice.... a light blue label.... or a dark blue label which looks the same as original.... this has no stamp and S - 002 - B on PDATW side.... S - 002 - A on the other.... has all details on label that James mentioned....

Tis gud John .... as is their other one "In A Moment" .... -
Yeh Brett.... too true.... the "boxes" used to either be on the counter itself if it was "new" stuff got or elsewhere in the shop if older at first.... think they used have some paper or card on them saying "soul/motown type stuff" on before the owners got wise.... then they just had "northern" written on the boxes and were, indeed, then kept on them there shelves behind the counter....
-
When I say still there Brett.... I mean it was the last time I walked by.... may be about 6-8 years ago now mate.... stand to be corrected if it's no longer a "music" shop.... always remember how the "ambience" of 45's all pinned or stuck in the windows and hanging from every shelf was replaced by CD's and ads for the latest "rave" nite when I last past it .... ah well.... memories ....
-
That was a freebie for me Neil.... well a few of them to be honest.... some guy I know waited, not sure how long or on what day but he'd sussed it, for the "usual" delivery to a shop called Violet Mays in Sheffield.... (used to "stock" quite a few NS way back then, shop still there but not been in for years).... he brought them "all" to the old KGB.... can't remember if it was one of the soul nites or niters.... anyway, they were all snapped up by "buyers" for a couple of quid I seem to remember.... As for my first record bought.... it was Julian Covey "A little Bit Hurt" round about 78ish from a market stall in Sheffield's indoor Castle Market.... if I search my shelves I think I've still got it as not sold on but saved for some silly daft sentimental reason ....
-
Glad to be of service Karen .... I was wondering there for a minute or two myself .... thought I'd better point it out to you ....
-
So did I for a minute ....
-
John, I'm getting most confused now.... this is the "All About Soul" section of SS isn't it ????.... and yet there are so many SSCDT members in here at the moment .... Have you all used John's string method to find you way back .... And just think what this'll do to your "bolleaux" ratings .... I'll get me coat ....

:secret:

But us boys aren't are we Steve ....
-
You might say not like Ainsley Steve ....
-
Take it the beat ballad version was the other thread of yours that didn't upload the attachment.... Could be a new line in CD's with "alternative takes" on here Pete....
-
Take it you'll be following your own advice then John ....
-
Seems to have worked with Deon's as well .... everything the same except the voice ....
-
Different take of Deon Jackson's Pete.... or different artist altogether.... or have you been "playing" with an audio proggy hence the emicon.... ....
-
If that's you you now call it .... then YES ....
-
Not to mention your more prized past-time.... eh Brett.... ....
-
Or were "always fat" and used to hide themselves away in a "Parker" until they discovered the "Atkins Diet" and now call themselves "soulies" .... some mod on a rally that wanted to hear "proper" music being played
-
But you keep coming back for more don't you General ....

1) The "handbaggers" are not "occasional soulies" in my opinion.... they are "those" that "latch onto the scene" through things like the KFC adverts or the "documentaries" like that one that had "Brighouse" in it.... they "come along" to see what it's like and walk about with "ale" on the dance floor, mainly males, or put their "handbags" (the term for you), mainly females ( ), on the floor and "dance" round them.... like "they all do normally" in any "joe bloggs" niteclub in the country.... In a "nutshell".... NOT SOULIES.... just people that "turn up" but haven't got a clue really.... 2) Simply put.... YES !!!! .... 3) Again.... simply put.... NO !!!! ....

In 20 years time.... wherever the person "has" to be dependent on age.... anything from nursing or residential home to still being in "their" home .... Average age.... doesn't matter.... except the "do's" still (if at all) happening will be afternoon "tea dances".... so there's no worries there then about he/she "lasting through the whole niter" .... Younger people.... can't see it "going on" through them because of "their own scene(s)" today.... which may be like how ours is to us now.... who would have thought that 20-30 years on we'd all be still "doing it" today.... I didn't if I'm honest.... thought it'd be a "few tapes to remember" getting played in the car .... Death of Northern Soul.... if being realistic then it will happen "as we know it" today, at some stage .... But (in line with this thread) to all you "DJ's and collectors".... what you "have to decide" is WHEN this is going to happen.... because you know you'll have to make sure you put all your "big money 45's" on eBay to get rid of them for a decent pension fund before "every one of them" becomes a "can't give it away tune".... never mind being a £200, £500, £2000 or "name your price" piece of 7" vinyl as they are now.... WHAT I'LL DO IS SAVE YOU THE "WHEN" AND THE "EFFORT" INVOLVED and take them off you now for £10-20 a each.... that's GOTTA be a FAIR DEAL if you've got a 500 box.... that's a "pension" of £5000-10000 NOW rather than just having to "wheely bin" them later when you "can't" sell them .... Go on.... you know it makes sense ....

Suggest the "posts" quoted above are read "in full".... rather that "selected" as above.... I responded with my post to your reply because I'm "sick and tired" of certain responses I read indicating that the "member of SS who replies" knows best.... no matter what.... and you, Christian, always come accross as "I know best" to the limited replies you make to "your" chosen topics "of interest".... I "forgot" that you know best when it comes to "arguements" or "debates" or "whatever" you choose to call them when it comes to tunes, formats played, styles, whatever, so decide to add my reply.... I've sat back too long, in my own opinion, and read this type of stuff, without responding, for far too long.... you might be the first to have got a reply from me like that, albeit "light hearted" as we don't know each other, but you'll not be the last .... I did put "various" emicons within the post to indicate it was a "tongue in cheek" reply with "a point" but obviously they were "overlooked".... so now I'll respond "in kind".... Anyway.... "complete nonsense".... because "blah, blah, etc., etc.,".... ain't gonna re-type the rest because "that's bollox".... nothoing "intelligent" to say gives the game/story away as far as I'm concerned .... typical "reply" from a self opinionated person with the "if you don't agree with me" I'm throwing my "dummy" and "teddy" out of my cot "attitude" .... Plus age limit "NEVER" comes in to it with me.... you brought that up into this "thread".... I used the word "latecomers" which points towards "anyone" that "joins" this scene and suddenly decides "they now know best" based on their "freshness" to "what's now" instead of "the scenes history".... I was just responding against something that comes accross as "I'M RIGHT" with what "I PUT/REPLIED" and "don't anybody disagree cause otherwise I'll back it up with comments like UNITELLIGENT" bullshit.... perhaps because it isn't prepared to accept an alternative opinion.... My "respect" for people comes from education and knowledge, open mindedness, can live with a difference of opinion and have respect for an alternative view where "the soul scene" in concerned.... not a person's "background" or "place" of birth........ the words " head, off, you, nob, f***" (you choose the order of these) spring to my mind if this is a wrong opinion to have as a "benchmark" for respect of someone.... Same goes for "origin" of a "soulie".... not everybody on the "soul scene" are ever gonna agree with each other on "topics on this forum".... would be a SAD and SORRY thing if we did.... BUT.... to resort to "wearing blinkers" or "assuming what you say yourself is the correct point of view irrespective of others" in a response to "selected posts" is a very NARROW MINDED thing to have as far as I'm concerned .... Irrespective of age, origan, gender, opinions or whatever other "pigeon holes" people say they are from, I'll just add that that means f*** all to me as long as "respect for differing opinions viewpoints comes first and foremost" .... Lastly.... I read your responses "with respect" for your opinion, whether I agree or not.... but I do "hate" the "holier than thy approach" that comes with them... hence this "long" reply.... Let's keep it "soulful"....

Obviously you've got your ear muffs on again cause of the cold weather "over there" .... you have to remember that people "up there" often descibe things in such a way cause they "ain't got one" or have "let it go cheap" in the past .... Tek them off and listen properly .... or is this one of your "contensious" posts again that seem to appear every now and again .... Perhaps it's just another knock at "the UK scene" rather than what "latecomers" seem to have adopted as "their scene" who are from outside these fair shores of ours .... Top choice for a sound clip Pete .... can't grumble with this one .... Remembered it from Lifeline Chalkster but couldn't remember who spun it.... thanks for reminder ....

A few personal favourites have already been mentioned .... so I'll just throw "Jay Traynor - Up And Over (ABC)" into the pot ....
