  1. Have done with some surprising results.... had those described as VG or VG+ turn up and be "undergraded" IMO.... always a bonus if got "cheaper" because of description/grading given.... if genuinely only a VG then do get a "better" one if the chance comes along, depending on what it is and how it plays though.... Had the other way aswell.... those descibed as near mint, excellent, etc., that turn up and only look/play VG .... but that's another thread Richard ....
  2. Absolutely class record Pete.... been chasing for a very long time now.... Personally don't have a signiture tune.... just have periods where one seems to give me that "must play it" feeling....
  3. Works out at £288.... Manship lists this "yellow" issue at £300.... also for the black.... the light and dark blue ones at £250.... so buyer obviously thinks it's about right.... Although personally think JM has this, along with some others, "valued" too high....
  4. Musically sounds very much like one of Levine's "motownesque" productions....
  5. Wonder how many lots of 50 Dave .... on top of the "too many to mention" already sold via eBay over last 18 months or so .... Interesting to say the least.... mmmm....
  6. And if no reply Ady ????.... gonna do as Dave says ....
  7. True.... you can't send "direct" to eBay.... as "uroffal" says, link in "description" to web space where you've put them.... assuming you've got some web space with your ISP....
  8. Agree vwith Dave ....
  9. Lee Williams & The Cymbals is one I never overlook .... don't particularly hunt stuff down but if see anything then get.... not been dissappointed yet ....
  10. quote 'chrissieo' date 'Oct 22 2005, 07:10 PM' My thoughts are very much the same as Dan's especially the past tense thing. Although I was there for a lot of the early 70s, since I came back to the scene I am going to more dos and having much more fun. Every thing about NS is "always" spoke of in the "past tense" by those not like me and you.... always has been and always will be IMHO.... sad I know BUT a fact.... "those outside it" or those "that WERE into it" always assume "it's gone", "finished", "over".... a "fashion period" that "just happened".... everybody on here (and those soulies not on here) KNOW that is complete B*LL*X.... how the f*ck do you explain to someone NOT into it or those that "followed fashion" back in the day.... YOU CAN'T.... there's another thread on here discussing a similar vein.... WE know it's STILL STRONG, GOING, ALIVE, etc,..... NOBODY else does, REALLY.... DO THEY.... WE "wanted and needed" (a la Gwen Owens) it underground.... THEY'VE left us DEAD AND BURIED (a la "not really how it is").... if only "they" knew.... their swansong should be.... "I NEVER KNEW what it means to you".... It would of been nice for the show to of been an extra 15mins all about today's scene. Never mind 15 mins.... how about "all night".... give it that allnighter feel.... and to bring the scene "right up to date" with what "we" know it to be.... will that ever happen.... I think not.... Single, late 40s, son grown up, to me I am not re living my youth like some people say about returnees but I'm having a totally new youth, and I think I appreciate the whole scene alot more than I did then I know you, me and everybody else "into it" ain't reliving their youth.... but "others" do.... I get comments like "you're not still into 'that' music are you?.... that's "old".... goes back to that other thread asking "how would you explain?.... simple answer is you can't and never will.... I put it down to ignorance, lack of understanding, etc., but isn't that the way of "those outside"????.... I definately believe that.... Mind you don't know whether I was flattered or insulted at being associated with an "underground subculture" Think my 25year old son would be proud of that though Just be "proud" to be "associated" ('their' words) being part of it (in the past tense 'they' use).... I know I am (present tense).... QoFxx ---------------- Not responding directly to you Chrissie BUT using your post to put mine.... hoping you don't mind.... Back "on topic".... although one of the "better" programmes on "our past".... there still needs to be someone with some b*ll*x to do something along the lines of "exploring" the past BUT most definately bringing "the audience" more up to date as to "where" we are now... I.E. NOT DEAD YET.... but still finding, buying, playing and dancing to THE BEST MUSIC WE KNOW.... Outta here.... soulfully to one and all....
  11. Don't want it.... Not said that.... paranoid ???? .... And yes and should be.... have words ....
  12. Not sure if there'll be any bargains .... last hour tells a story .... No doubt a few in "watching" boxes ....
  13. Not if any of the prices of some items on Manship's Auction of late are to go by Dan.... can only see them being revised upwards.... still the place most would like to sell as they constantly attain "top dollar".... As for eBay.... well that's always been hit and miss IMO.... some go "daft".... others slip by cheaply.... As for prices appearing to drop in general.... it may be because all the returnees that have been chasing the same things, thus allowing lists to up the price as it's become "more in demand", have maxxed out on funds.... meaning these items are now not selling as easily so get are offered for less.... there's been plenty over the last few years that "peaked" at daft high prices and have now settled back at something more reasonable.... Bettye Swann, Dee Dee Sharpe, Ace Spectrum, Nolan Porter, etc., are some that come to mind.... Also, I think, because more collectors are now looking to the cheaper end of the market nowadays where there are great "cheap" records to be had.... more sounds for less money so to speak.... these are the ones that will probably rise in value if they get more airplay and become wanted by more people.... Swings and round-a-bouts and all that ....
  14. can't see it staying there Ady .... p.s. you can always hope "chattahoochee3" wants to buy it along with The Celestrals ....
  15. Will we need leg warmers if they're gonna cover the old skating rink with a dance floor to keep our tootsies warm in the third room .... Nah, seriously.... where's the third room John ?.... already there but never ever been used or are they taking over some other part of the building and making one ?.... curious .... With three rooms, what would be the policy/direction of each ?....
  16. It's already there Mandy .... click on the CAPITAL LETTERS bit, that's the link.... Info again.... if missed....
  17. On Swan.... Manship lists it at £100....
  18. Not sure if it's one of those on Darran's flyer Steve but do remember going to Rebels where it was quite "strange" watching all the "rockers" stumble out pissed up wondering what we were all doing stood outside shivering waiting to go in with hodalls and all at gone 2am in the morning.... Vivid memory of the "quelching" carpet from the previous events "drinkers" as you walked towards the dance floor.... pile of talc to soak most off your shoes then "extra" on the floor so you didn't stick.... All in all a very different experience ....

  20. Mr Higgins and Mr Mannion.... well you both know without me saying it.... p.s. your avatar cracked me up though Steve.... but you've got it wrong.... should be Nescafe.... Mr Bicknell sir.... tried to PM you but being told your "switched off" or "your box is full" .... inbox that is ....
  21. Never ceases to amaze me where these turn up at .... Did someone get one for you Dave or did they copy it for you .... The "little jump" on the Johnnie Mae Matthews track is actually on Errol's 45.... he was hoping his replacement copy would have arrived before I recorded all our chosen tracks and then burnt them to CD.... sadly it didn't.... listed at £50 Dave but can be picked up cheaper ....
  22. £20 is still "cheap" for Tim.... one of those that "sounds" as though it should be more.... last saw one in a box for £15 at Sherries, though label was a bit worn.... Maybe the the postage was for a "free beer" .... Right.... where's your next lot of selections Mark ....
  23. Didn't even know you had it Shane.... post was to suggest it's a £15 tune as I know you sell for a price and send for free.... hence the "postage" comment of £5 ....
  24. £5 for postage Shane .... you gonna hand deliver on your paper round ....
  25. Had this one for a good long while myself Mark.... storming uptempo type.... played it out a couple of times last year at Ponds Forge.... got a few "what was that last track" type queries.... just needs air time IMO ....
