Few Up For Sale On Ebay, Ending Sunday
vaultofsouler replied to vaultofsouler's topic in Record Sales
Just adding.... I've had numerous queries re ending some items early and re reserve prices.... these may or not be from readers of this site.... but answering here anyway.... Firstly, I'll just say that I'm not a believer in ending items early for offers (even though some have exceeded the reserve) as I don't like this done on items that I'm watching via eBay.... so I don't do that on principal.... just a personal opinion.... Secondly, as for reserve price queries.... I don't see a problem with answering those so have answered them accordingly and honestly.... and I will continue to do so.... after all, a "reserve" is only protecting my investment and whether or not I sell it on.... Thanks and soulfully.... -

.... err.... I mean .... .... JM lists it at £50 compared with £20 for it without the stamp.... notice he puts "I Can't Please Her" as the title though.... misprint ....
-
Same kbps here Simon.... think it's the standard for BBC.... get same bit rate when listening to local BBC radio online.... Sounds fine though....
-
Same as this one "headsy" ????.... Came from the states like it.... like you say, strange.... looks like done as an afterthought ....
-

Hit/miss.... hit/miss.... all I know is it's "old skool".... Like old style "jazz funk or "rare groovee" or "whatever".... pick any genre that suits .... Don't get me wrong.... got loads of this type of stuff from around the 80's stacked up.... bought the imported stuff from a local record shop who's seller/server used to look at me as though I was mad .... What I mean is my weekends were Northern/Rare Soul.... always were and still are.... but my Monday nights were to "chill out" having often knocked work that day.... two stepping with the girls.... oh, I forget.... two stepping is a "new term".... or so my 15 year old daughter tells me .... Collected this as an alternative for ages so I don't dislike it one bit.... Those Monday nights were spent at a local night club called Josephines which played all this type of stuff.... have a few top up beers and laze about ready for work on Tuesday .... used to lend the "resident DJ" quite a few bits he didn't know/have.... some nights were like dancing in my own front room to tunes I could've put on ... Remember waiting for the "blackboard" to come out after springtime saying no jacket required.... as for some reason the owners/doormen/staff seemed to think wearing jackets meant no trouble .... never understood why the "summer" was any different from the "winter" ....

Groovettes - Think It Over Baby - Reness
vaultofsouler replied to Quinvy's topic in Look At Your Box
Sh*t.... notice I've had to edit both previous posts as I've just got in and hand/eye coordination is not at its best .... Anyway... back on topic and answers to Phil's original post please .... p.s. notice how this post has took a while to do due to re-reading and then editing typing errors before posting .... -

I probably have misunderstood Phil.... that's why I put the "sorry" bit first.... Just saw/read the "not buying because not rare bit" and wondered why as read it as "I'm now not buying now because it's no longer rare".... I can now see "why your not buying" from your reply mate.... Didn't take offence .... I just read differently from how put accross/typed on here .... that's the trouble with reading on a forum rather than chatting face to face.... you don't read it the same as you'd hear it .... Apologies if any offence took but as Jock says it's a part of the scene that often gets misunderstood/misinterpretated when broached on here.... -

Sorry.... but does this mean that if owt isn't "dog rare" then it isn't worth having .... If so I'd disagree completely.... comes across as a bit condescending to buyers of stuff that's not "rare" or that "turn up" and so lose their rarity meaning they can now be off loaded to those of us that aren't that particular.... "rare" doesn't necessarily mean "good".... some so called "dog rare" stuff ought to be rephrased "dog sh*te".... all IMO of course.... Irrespective of rarity, I think The Goovettes is OK and would fit nicely alongside a "cheapie" like Robert Parker's I Caught You In A Lie.... just as an example.... -
£1115....

Can't say I've heard it out when Pete.... See what you mean re Anderson Brothers for chorus bit....
-
Am I right in saying this is a completely different version altogether .... Seem to remember a mate picking it up for $1.99 thinking he'd got a bargain.... then playing it, and ....

Always led to believe it was a boot" myself.... but I've also had conversations years ago about this because the original has a matrix stamp "that looks like 2 oval circles with a centre dot with a V running from the center" (to quote JM's guide).... and this DOES as shown in piccies taken (not brilliant via a phone camera) from "the boot" I've had and stored away since being young and unknowing.... I seem to remember being told back then that the numbering difference, as Simon T points out, was an indication of an "earlier" release number based on sequential numbering.... Not suggesting it is "real" by any means, but the inclusion of the "original stamped matrix" is interesting IMO.... as I'm told the other "boots" (the counerfiet label copy & the trans am only logo copy) don't have this.... opens up the whole debate about duplicating original matrix stamps even in the early days, unlike those that have scratched in copied matrixes.... Isn't collecting a wonderful game ....
-
Souldaddy.... the original has the "nashville" matrix stamped in the run off groove....
-
Think you'll find that in post #7 he states he isn't slagging off the event Janine, in fact states enjoyed it.... just commenting on the two door staffs' attitudes towards people waiting to get in.... including Ginger who I suspect will have told Terry .... Steve!!!! ....

Charles Johnson - Never Had A Love So Good 45 On Ebay
vaultofsouler replied to a topic in Record Sales
Had one given to me from about 5-6 years ago from a mate who had a record shop in Doncaster and used to get them from KR.... had other double-sided tracks given on the same with the white label.... seem to remember they were the test pressings for a forthcoming Goldmine/Sevens, or similar label, release.... -
Changed description.... I don't think so.... IS FROM MY OWN PRIVATE COLLECTION! SHRINE RECORDS 101 (SRG 101A written in the Trail Off Dead Wax). MINT- CONDITION. AS YOU KNOW THE SHRINE LABEL IS ONE OF THE HARDEST LABELS TO FIND. OUT OF WASHINGTON DC IT RANKS WITH CHANCE, RED ROBIN, PARROT AND SABRE RECORDS. THE CAIROS sing "STOP OVERLOOKING ME"/"DON'T FIGHT IT". BOTH TRACKS WERE RECORDED IN 1966. IT IS A 45 WITH A LITTLE HOLE. WAIT TILL YOU SEE THE LOW RESERVE PRICE. Exactly like the last one.... NO mention of it being a recent re-press.... and still insisting on a RESERVE for a £10/$15 record.... why not be HONEST in description instead of deceptive as you now know what they're worth from the last thread, plus also have it "buy it now" for $15.... As stated.... £10 > FROM MANSHIP HERE <.... Still proving to be a "rip off" merchant in my opinion Fosland ....

Hi Dan and other "mods".... Whilst standing by my original post I can also respect in one sense why the "I Love eBay" thread was locked by Rachel due to the "w*nker smilie" being displayed, as Dan suggests, thus being deemed "turning insultive" and also "not knowing what was going to be said next".... although I didn't read the thread as being insultive as it stood though hence my original post.... maybe removing the "w*nker smilie", as Brian suggests, could be a way to detract from posts appearing insultive to the general reader and preventing threads going "in a downwards spiral of insults".... Anyway.... I veiwed the thread as a chance to get some reasons from "fosland" for his ongoing dubious listings.... and drawing unsuspecting buyers who read SS, but not post, to that fact.... this, hopefully, has been done now.... I made replies to all parts of his first post re the item, countering his reasoning and comments on points and issues which he either missed or just ignored.... was just hoping to draw him on those points again.... this would have been a point re-made as you state was the case Dan, but one I was wanting a response to so was wanting to highlight them again.... Suppose there's the PM route but, hey, will I get a reply .... I for one don't think any "mods" are on a "power trip" (except Shane of course ).... as stated in original post, I think it's a hard/demanding job.... one I don't envy anybody doing.... so whilst I may not agree in this instance I respect the decision and reasoning.... feel free to lock this if you wish as points have now been made and answered here and by Mike in Site Stuff.... With respect, love and soulfulness to all ....

Been out all night and just logged on to see what FOSLAND has been adding, if anything, to the "I Love eBay" thread.... and what I find is it has been locked.... WHY.... The "rest assured the moderators are discussing it"reasoning, mentioned in another thread by OoooRICKoooO, holds no water for me.... Who's getting penalised for honest opinions/comments.... true SOUL SOURCE members IMO ..... I thought this "forum board" was supposed to generate opinions .... If some "wanna be soul seller" from eBay joins to try and defend his items/actions then let him.... he'll soon realise that he can't sell stuff under false pretences and have no comeback.... or that no one will have a go at him for his listings.... Locking threads only serve to "protect" him.... they appear to "knock" all other proper SS members comments and stop US airing our opinions/thoughts.... It was mentioned that Mike & Co should ban him from the site on the "I Love eBay" thread.... I stated NOT.... reason being it could allow a response from said "seller" when WE commented on his ongoings.... no matter whether believable or comical.... OoooRICKoooO's thread again mentioned banning.... I again say NOT because of reason just stated.... How many threads have WE discussed "dodgy" USA sellers and their items with NO responses.... at least this gives US a chance to cast OUR OPINION and to TRY and get some answers.... I do believe in FOSLAND's case it all falls on deaf ears.... BUT at least WE say it.... I know it's a demanding/hard job for all the "mods".... but locking the threads, in my opinion, is where "big brother" is wrong in this instance.... I'm now beginning to think this post will get locked when read by the "mods" because it relates to previously locked threads but, hey, sh*t happens.... at least I've got my opinion off my chest.... p.s. don't penalise SS's for "honest" unthreatening posts ....
