  1. Not sure myself Ed .... but a mate of mine was always convinced the words were.... "Cap, u-turn, then do it again, love you" then scratched backwards off course.... well they're the words he used to sing back then.... he suggested it was part of the dance moves of the day to it USA-stylee.... don your cap, turn around, then carry on dancing.... he said it made sense to him .... Make your own mind up from the snippet taken from the "All-Night Oldies" (KTF 1) bootleg LP ....
  2. Sorry to "have to" read of this Neil .... AGAIN in your case mate .... Hope you get it "sorted" as you'd "want it to be sorted".... if you know what I mean .... Soulfully Mark (Ponds Forge, Sheffield) ....
  3. Hi Mark.... just letting you know that I have sent e-mail with regards to what we spoke about on the telephone Sunday night .... Will let you know of any response/reply....
  4. My thoughts exactly .... Unless, of course, they actually live "very" close by and item was delivered and dropped off when finished .... Rich's "divorce" scenario sounds good.... as does Mr M's explaination .... Oooooh ebay.... don't you just love it ....
  5. That's only the first draft I've done for you "CUN*" .... Only sent to see yourself as not quite yet ready for general release yet .... You do favours and then those that you do them for can't wait .... Martin.... pleeeeaaaase ....
  6. Ey up Sean.... Just presumed he meant hiding from buyers over here.... hence comment on distance/location of seller.... Wasn't questioning it being "dodgy".... new seller with a "borrowed" scan says it all ....
  7. Long way to go and hide.... Australia.... Link tidied up.... https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=100500940062....
  8. Lyrically fantastic throughout Ted IMO .... others lines like.... Can I reach out and touch your face or will you disappear again like in my dreams.... I know you know I know you noticed me and I'm so afraid my heart out there for you to see.... Do you hear the voices in your soul telling you your in control, I hear them too, but I have never known such mystery these feelings are so new to me... Not forgetting the "horns breaking in" and the "flute building up to the screetching bit".... Quality record throughout.... How can a modern track be "far too modern" Craig .... I thought a modern track was, well, just modern .... or is it the fact that some people are now declaring 70's as modern albeit they're 30 years old .... That's a first for me mate with that one .... p.s. hope your well and will no doubt see you at the Derby alldayer again ....
  9. Cheers Mike.... do seem to remember on joining it had a "use default icon" box ticked (I think).... left as was as presumed could change later.... maybe leaving that ticked has something to do with it.... just a thought ....
  10. Problem Mike.... can't seem to change icon.... have tried uploading a few times but still shows default one.... any ideas.... thanks....
  11. Well Dave in answer to your question, but by no means a dig at you personally, I'll explain how it was for me.... and I suspect most others using "usernames".... Maybe, like me, when you originally "signed up" you had to put a "username"..... remember, not your name but a username.... after much "shall I use this or shall I use that username", I opted for one that I use on most other things I have to log into that uses a "username and password".... means I don't have to have loads of "usernames" in use and I don't have to think "what username did I use on here".... I know this site "remembers" you (unless you delete your cookies folder) but on joining I didn't know that.... eBay "remembers you" if the option is ticked but only for 24 hours since last log in.... presumed this was the same.... I know since then, through various upgrades or alterations, Mike has incorporated the option of changing your "visible" name from that of, by default then, your username.... I thought of changing that option to my name but, after so long, I thought why bother.... What I did do was "edit" what is shown under the avatar bit, the wording that if left to default, indicates your amount of posts, massive again, getting more spins, etc., to my name.... Yours with much love Dave .... Lord Lucan .... p.s. as for stopping these "one of dig posts" by new users, well I'm not sure that can ever be controlled....
  12. Would that be the "library" your on about .... Me.... cheeky.... never Baz ....
  13. Have occasionally heard it out and about over the years Baz.... as for by who/where I can't really recall.... As for "background".... seems to have a bit of it's own ....
  14. Probably is proof positive Rod.... but again, the seller will just say he's copied and pasted his previous description for ease if you complain and eBay ask.... after all, eBay will now get their fees twice over so do you think they "really" care ....
  15. Oh the life of a mod.... As for topic question.... Paul you've got to be taking the p*ss.... you can't be serious surely.... "play them at a northern soul night" .... Whatever next.... scratching with records worth ££££'s ....
  16. Hi Rod.... are you suggesting the buyer and seller know each othar .... and so bid up the item hoping you'd go higher so as to get more dosh .... surely that doesn't happen does it .... Seriously mate....this happens regularly.... eBay will do f*ck all as well if you complain.... they might query the seller and the seller only has to say "I've got two copies for sale" then it's the end of complaint then as far as eBay are concerned.... You could always register another eBay "username" (different e-mail) and bid massive on all seller's items to make sure you win.... then of course don't pay the tw*t ....
  17. Prices inserted Steve as listed in JM guide.... only as a "guide" of course ....
  18. Was only playing "devil's advocate" Simon .... Have also got this "boot", plus lots of others, picked up "back then" when I knew no better and I just keep them piled up seperately for personsal reasons of "my history".... never have actually thought about selling them on also as each has it's "memory" value .... nothing to do with an "originals" debate.... perhaps more to do with making such boots "rarer" ....
  19. Or you could just quite simply "break it and bin it" and put the "fiver" down to "bad investment" so it's one less boot in circulation ....
  20. Don't know the first one.... but the second one is The Delfonics - Hurt So Bad....
  21. Sorry.... if it's supposed to be a "soulful" beat ballad it deffinately ain't.... It's just sounds like one of many "sixties" sounding records out there.... there's tons of them.... To me it seems more and more people are either flipping over a well known track to "find" the latest thing "hoping" for something "soulful", which it just isn't.... OR the other option today seems to be, as I've known happen, people buying any 60's looking record and hoping it is "soulful" sounding or "has that certain" beat to be picked upon, which often it doesn't.... Occasionally it has happened (by very few DJs/collectors) and does happen (by curiosity) when an old tune is flipped or a new one found, and may still do in the future, but not often.... We all know from the past when we've naturally flipped over a record "out of interest", the other side has been shite.... because there ain't too many jaw dropping "soulful double siders" that aren't already known.... usually the "double siders" found today are only "double siders" of today because we now seem to have broadened our listening powers and now "accept" the more mid tempo kind of stuff that was once always overlooked when a record was "flipped" in the past.... now if it's a "soulful" mid tempo it's acceptable AND not always a bad thing IMO.... Perhaps this opinion is another thread in itself, pobably so.... but I got carried away with my thoughts on listening to this absolutely awful record potrayed as "SOUL".... Sorry "givemesoul" you did ask for an opinion .... Next time.... GIVEMESOUL ....
  22. Hi Stuart.... I can't personally really name just one record.... my tastes change daily/weekly but my observation on "modern soul" and other "genres" currently, due to how you explain Rod Shard's attitude, is as follows and I wondered what your thoughts were.... To me it all boils down to the ever ongoing "pigeon holed" attitude and the ever growing "terms" used within the scene.... like Winnie says it depends on the dates or era you choose to pick.... Stuff like Timeless Legend and others of that ilk were openly played at Clifton Hall (1979-83) under the one "rare soul" banner and was equally accepted by the dance floor alongside the traditional 60's stuff.... an original "one floor one music" venue that moved the scene on.... The "terms" I originally remember coming into being back then on the flyers were "oldies", the 60's stuff whether known or not, and "newies", the Timeless Legend, King Tutt, type of sound.... "modern soul" hadn't been thought of as a term at that time.... Then there was the emergance of "60's newies" added into the frame.... what! I remember being the attitudes of some, two types of "newies".... and so, I'm not too sure when, the new term of the day I remember being banded about was "modern soul" that differentiated between the "new 60's" and "new sounds".... the start of the "split" between the two scenes IMO.... the promoters of Clifton Hall moved onto Bradford Queens Hall (and Bensons) and then had two rooms which is where I first saw the two terms, northern and modern, used for a venue.... The "newies" or "modern" sounds that were big back in the day of venues like Clifton Hall and Bradford Queens Hall seem to have no place on either the "northern" or "modern" scenes.... it's like they never existed or are hard to place in a "genre".... John Alden mentions a few tunes that cause debate on whether they are "northern" or "modern".... Paul Donely mentions Bits 'n' Pieces.... surely "northern" or "70's northern".... but, again, some class as "modern".... What I do find very strange these days is that "modern soul" as a genre seems to be now associated with the general 70's sound that was played back then as "oldies" (Bits 'n' Pieces as an example) with a "jump" to 90's, Y2K stuff and the "night club" things of soulful house and soulful garage.... Moving on to today, just look at the amount of "pigeon holed genres" we seem to have accepted or use these days.... northern, oldies, classics, floorfillers, pop soul, blue eyed soul, 70's, 70's oldies, 70's modern, up tempo, mid tempo, crossover, 80's, modern, two step, Y2K, modern oldies (huh), R&B, nothern R&B, club soul, upfront, underplayed, the list is endless.... The latest "split" seems to be people saying that R&B needs its own room (recent thread) and the arguements you have over what is and isn't R&B, i.e. gritty R&B, bluesy R&B, northern R&B and whatever other term you care to use.... Just how I see all this "genre" stuff evolving over the years of course and why we will always have unresolvable debates on "our soul music" and where it belongs/should be played/the genre it fits ....
  23. The version of Robert Tanner is rather a good cover ....
  24. Be interesting to know if this film is going to do the rounds, perhaps in indepentent cinemas.... or if it is to be shown on TV.... or even if it will it go straight to DVD.... Anybody know ????.... p.s. talking of people knowing.... I had to have a chuckle at this bit of a quote below.... ....because if us readers on here don't know much about NS by now then I suppose we never will ....
  25. "vaultofmark" .... Yeh, he did finally manage to find a copy a few months back after searching one out after hearing it played out back then.... can never get my head round why a lot of the cheaper stuff can be hard to get hold of quickly and easily... Remind whoever's on first to play it Shane....
