I think the term "tent music" first came out after Fleetwood weekenders.... the Northern Room stayed pretty much 60's full on Northern.... and the Modern Room stayed pretty much "new release" Modern with quite a bit of "boom boom" (House & Garage type).... The newly introduced third "tent" room (a marquee tent) had no politics and played a cross selection of of the more "early and late underplayed 60's" and all parts of the 70's, with a bit of 80's come 90's (Modern Oldies ) thrown in.... The "main stay" was probably Crossover so the two seem to be used to mean the same thing these days.... all IMO of course....

Cheers pal .... p.c. sure that's not a "deep fat fryer" for your copy of The Carstairs ....
-
Cheers Pete.... I thought some sort of "machine" had been the topic of a thread sometime back and now you mention it you said then you'd get one to try.... is it filled with water or am I mixing it up with something else that was discussed ....
-
Stuart, I did say "warm" water mate .... Wouldn't try any old toothbrush myself.... would imagine some of the sturdier "nylon" ones do more harm than good.... I'll just add that on the really "dirty" ones I leave a film of the water on vinyl instead of drying it off with a soft cloth and play it through.... you notice the stylus picks out the "stubborn" stuff.... have to lift arm a couple of times and replace where lifted to clean off stylus.... many a "pop" and "click" got rid of by doing this .... P.S. Wasn't there a thread some time back regarding some "machine" you could get over the internet which created air bubbles in the water that forced out any muck ....

Was in two parts on Sky.... can't remember which channel but they showed both parts directly after each other.... Did record both parts at the time but as they were shown as "veiwed" in the Planner our lass deleted them to free up space ....

Agreed.... bit of washing up liquid on vinyl and bowl of warm water.... I've got an old very very soft tooth brush that I use dipped in the water to then go around the vinyl with.... a couple of times like that and it's surprising the ammount of sh*t that gets lifted out.... then rinsed off with the warm water to get rid of all the washing up liquid .... Goes without saying.... avoiding thelabel off course ....

Phil.... it, the PM, has probably been sent.... noticed myself that the tick box to save a copy was unticked for a time, I suppose by default whilst Mike sorted any probs, so unless you ticked it you wouldn't get a copy put in your sent box.... Just checked again now with "compose new message" and it seems to be ticked again by default so all's back to normal I assume.... As for original question.... tried too many times too count whilst at work on nights this week.... those shifts are way too long without SS to read and catch up with ....

-
OFFERS ????.... NEVER !!!!.... £20 should secure a copy IMO.... Although now, after all the available copies were bought up from Andy Dyson and the like pretty sharpish, people might now be trying to get a bit more for it as you don't see for sale regularly....
-
F*ck the bollotics.... it's deleted....
-
Weren't they all awful Pete ....
-
P.S. not sure what this "cover up" malarky has got to do with Martin's Modern thingy-ma-jig thread BUT being as well i can't find the key to lock this up for him perhaps the off topic sh*t might do it ....
-
Cheers Steve .... but I've scoured that site pal over the last couple of years but what it doesn't give you is both the "covered and uncovered song title" and the "artist/band" covered/uncovered.... some of those I just recollect the "covered song title" or the "covered artist"....
-
I can help you out mate .... do it most weeks with people .... p.s why do I smile when taking a 7ml syringe of summat to somebody when "it's for their own good" .... SPEAK SOON PAL....
-
.... Bit of "gameplay" then Simon.... never really looked at "what they called it" and "what it actually was" when uncovered.... thanks for info.... might get round at some point to having a look back at the tracks they covered against what they were to.... then again these days I might get around to winning an old bet of "landing a snowball on the sun" with the things "I'm going to do" ....
-
Nowt pal.... just assumed you'd "popped" into to Sainsburys/Morrisons on the way home for a change ....
-
Cheers Simon.... but didn't think he used the actual title.... if he did that'd be unusaul for the day as most changed both artist and title to avoid "finding it".... Thanks for info....
-
Yes Steve it was.... but f*ck knows if I can remember "who and what under".... it's on an old tape of mine recorded on some night back then with him announcing it but it'll takeme 2 years to find it .... p.s. what is "ptint" and "ere" .... lucky guess at "print" and and "were" .... p.p.s. a little too much wine with your "tea" pal ....
-
Crossover has been about/played for years now.... tunes that I and others know that just weren't "pigeon holed" that way then so the "always had that stuff" reply from said DJ's might actually be right.... probably it's just that YOU didn't know it or recognise it as a SOUL tune "back then the first time".... Other than that I'm at a loss as to what you are actually "having a go at" or "commenting" on .... is it the "they daren't play cheapies" thing OR the local thing of "you play at my do and I'll play at your do" which has been covered on a thread somewhere before....
-
Also on ALBUM is it not.... Have seen a few "white label 12's/7's" of it.... presumed these are "vinylcarvers jobbies" ....
-
Like I said pal.... nowt to you personally.... just my own "WHY" based on this statement.... Anyway.... consider me slapped on back .... Your turn .... did you feel it .... Soulfully.... Mark
