  1. Just to throw a spanner in your works... I'm 38, and a record collector. UK labels I actively collect: Soul City 45s and LPs Action 45s and LPs Deep Soul 45s and LPs Chess 45s EPs and LPs Atlantic (Black label) 45s Grapevine (70s) 45s and LPs Philly International 45s And numerous other small run 70s labels (Swan, Cream, Special Agent etc.)
  2. I've got a very strong suspicion that every single Eastern Block release, (probably along with those from Thailand/Singapore) is a bootleg. I can't see the 'Party' allowing money to be handed over to the Capitalist Pigs.
  3. Got an issue of the Originals Good Night Irene on the swirl label with Red Vinyl. I've seen loads of different Motown labels on demos with coloured vinyl, but this is the first issue I've ever seen.
  4. Just listened to my copy on a decent stereo with a bit of oomph behind it, and it doesn't sound flat like the one on the YouTube clip - a poor quality recording perhaps?
  5. My copy is without strings as well...
  6. The one without strings sounds 'hollow' to my ears... a bit like an unfinished demo. I think that's probably the reason why Strings and tamborine were added.
  7. https://cgi.ebay.com/NORTHERN-SOUL-45-WADE-FLEMONS-JEANETTE-on-RAMSEL_W0QQitemZ330413628378QQcategoryZ306QQcmdZViewItem VG condition only. 22 Hours to go and well over $700.
  8. I'd say the white demo is quite rare - early 60s releases on the label are seldom found on demo.
  9. Not aware of a recent 'reissue', but as stated the only way to get this track on 7" is to get either the Jukebox EP, or the set of 33rpm 7" singles (the album of 10 tracks split on the A/Bs of 5 'singles') which were issued for Jukeboxes (Seeburg) in a brown envelope type cover stating [Artist of the week]. These packs are often sold 'broken' down into individual 7"s. There is no official 45rpm single track per side release.
  10. how many of the tracks credited to Tammi were actually her though? There's plenty of rumours about Oma Heard and Valerie Simpson filling in on her sessions when she was too ill to perform.

  12. Not at all - even as late as the late eighties/early nineties you could still pick up loads of decent quality, good condition second hand and deadstock 60s items - this was 30 years ago remember - Walk into an Oxfam now and count just how many late 80s - early 90s pieces you see...
  13. Where did they park the "Sunny Smiles Coach"?
  14. The fact that people can't get over the fact it's gone...
  15. Hard one... UK only (?), definately no US issue.
  16. Also came out on UK - Dave Godins Deep Soul label...
  17. Used to be an Anglo American Soul Pack 45 (late 90s?). Might be worth giving them a shout....
  18. Why not try attending events where you won't hear these tunes over and over again? There's plenty of venues out there...
  19. A few A3 posters that Ray gave me years ago...
  20. your right, I misstyped the names... too many dirty lagers at the Washy this afternoon.... deffo cousins though... edited to put it right...
  21. Seem to recall that Pete McShane died during the 'Canklow Years'... so timeline fits with what's been quoted
  22. Dave & Bri Pinches at 00:30 'Clack' aka Mark Fox and Roy (in suit and tie) at 00:45 Paul Holden in Denim Cut-Off at 00:47 Roger (Roys cousin) taking a drink from his pint at 00:49 'Big Ted' at 02:08 possibly the back of my head at 02:18 Gino left hand side of screen at 02:48 Rena (orangey/red top) at 03:08 That's all I can name....
  23. My Numark deck is marked +10% to -10% in 1% increments. I assume that it's industry standard.
  24. Lots of Canklow footage in there - all the dark stuff - they were too tight to put light bulbs in (Especially in the worlds grottiest bogs LOL)
  25. 91/92 and on a Sunday, I used to go and cadge lifts back to Sheffield. John Kingan definately DJed there, also think Steve Croft used to DJ/possibly run the night.
