  1. Bought a 5 Royales 45 off an ebay seller, to sell on and decided to look through his other items to offset high postage costs. Saw a record I'd never heard of, by a fairly prolific artist with an opening bid of $5. Thought i might as well have a punt at it for the price. Won it, and paid for the pair. Then checked it out in Manships: Billy Sha Rae - Pitfall - Rapid 1 - £700 NOR. Result.
  2. Snake Davis? Flip of the recent R L Burnside 45?
  3. There are definately some US 45 issues with small holes that were produced intentionally - I have a Ray Charles that was unissued on a normal US 45, "One Mint Julep", that was manufactured for Jukebox use. I have a personal theory that they were made for Export (South America, Philippines etc) for use on dansettes etc.
  4. Is this The Count? If so he's a fcuking loony. You see him at the Allentown record meet, dressed like a aging Hippy WWF Wrestler.
  5. To be fair there's over 700 records. If the reserve is £5K, then it's stil under £7 a record. It may not be attractive to a seasoned collector, but if you want an instant collection to cherry pick and build on then who's to say what it's worth? There's plenty of 45s in there that could be originals, boosting the value.
  6. Roddy was never young - he hatched from an egg fully formed.
  7. There's two kinds of records - Good and Bad. Everything else is just an arbitrary tag.
  8. Thanks for that, haven't laughed so much since watching it between 3:05 and 3:20 yesterday. Less Legs & Co, and more Dregs and Co. FFS, Stop the Northern Scene, I Wanna Get Off...
  9. Also came out on German London in a picture sleeve....
  10. No doubt it probably is Pete, The price I quoted was pre-eBay and pre-internet so things were in the main harder to find. I was just confirming that you'd be hard pressed to get one for under a ton since it's historicly been around that price and above.
  11. About 9/10 of issues have some background noise. Demos appear to be noise free, as are the French EPs.
  12. i doubt you'll ever own one then - a genuinely hard to find 45 in my experience - and was fetching around £100 ten to fifteen years ago
  13. anyone got a scan of the Belles?
  14. A massive bargain - i've had in excess of £300 offered to me twice (ie two seperate people) in the last 12 months.
  15. Seen quite a few battered ones in the US - always too rough to pick up - must have sold reasonably well, but been played to death.
  16. Angry? no, not at all. Facetious? undoubtedly. Intimidating? bloody hell, you'd hate to see me in a really bad mood - I think you'd be a quivvering wreck, if you find my Spam jibe aggressive. Agenda? My only agenda is reading a thread about OVO, not your sales pitch about something that has no relevance to the thread. Brewing for some time? Only now man enough to get it off my chest? Now this statement I really don't understand - I don't even know you, and I've no idea what you are on about? Again, what should I have mentioned previously? What am I supposed to have been worrying about? I really haven't a clue what you're on about.
  17. Belt-Sander - the plates come up lovely and shiny.
  18. Your posting reads as spam - it's a sales pitch with little or next to no relevance to the thread. Sorry my attempt at wit Seven-four-sevened you. Clear enough?
  19. You could have a 'hit' in the US without selling any 45s as many charts were based on Radio plays rather than sales.
  20. I had a Spam sandwich for my breakfast, and now it seems I'm having one for my supper.
  21. Calla version pisses all over the Karen one IMO... I have both, but i know which one I'd take to my grave with me.
  22. I've seen the following: Bob and Earl LP Jerry Butler and Betty Everett LP Rock & Roll Oldies Compilation LPS as well
  23. You lost loads of your old regulars when Dave Box announced that there was going to be much less R&B played... I can't see how more Crossover will appeal to that crowd.
  24. my reply to his meassage would have been - "Are you smokin' crack?"
  25. Unlikely - MCA copies are from the early 70s, and MCA is credited on the label. As Pete says it's likely to be in line with the 1970s UK reissues.
