  1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tammi_Terrell No mention of Ernie Terrell here...
  2. You'd love the Everly Pregnant Brothers - from Sheffield - 'Northern Uke'
  3. i think it's an economy of scale - vinyl stampers are cheaper to produce small runs of 45s, whereas the tooling involved makes it too expensive to do so with styrene. It's only when you press high numbers of Styrene that they become much cheaper to produce.
  4. The single sided Mono/Stereo demo became prominent due to the switch from AM to FM radio - hence one side Mono (AM) and the other side Stereo (FM). Black music tended to be made with Mono/Stereo sides because the Black radio stations were a lot slower at changing over to FM than the Rock orientated White and College Radio Stations.
  5. Is there any other kind of Country record? Joke btw.
  6. My issue wasn't quite that cheap, but it was under $10.
  7. Plenty of class tunes - but here are a couple I've picked up lately: And one of my all time faves (had this about ten years now):
  8. It is if you like Gospel and The Voices of East Harlem... If not your not gonna love it.
  9. Sounds nowt like Bobby Marchan. Just a cover version done for the TV show.
  10. I'll kick off with one... The Voices Of East Harlem - No! No! No! / Let It Be Me - E(ast) H(arlem) F(latbush) Y(outh) A(ssociation) I bought this off eBay a few years back (I was the only bidder), and it's the only copy that shows up on Popsike. Got to be a rare one?
  11. As a kind of sister thread to the Common Labels / Rare Records thread, how about a Common Artists / Rare Record thread? Artists should have plenty of common releases under their belts, and the track highlighted should be very hard to find: eg Chubby Checker - You Just Don't Know - Parkway Scans particularly welcomed...
  12. I've got a Mint- Billy Wade somewhere, pm me an offer.
  13. https://www.ebay.co.u...&_sop=12&_rdc=1 All on the cheap side - I'm happy to get the starting bid for any of them. All gradings to Soul Source standard gradings as published on site....
  14. Is there a larger than average number of attendees to events who are Gay? I wouldn't say so - I can count on both hands people on the scene who are openly Gay / Lesbian, yet I know hundrds who are presumably not. No hair, well polished shoes and a tache doesn't make you automatically Gay does it? - at least I hope not, or I'm batting for the wrong side.
  15. I believe the Wheel was there long before it became recognised as the "Gay Village" - Homosexuality was only made legal in 1967, and then it was still underground.
  16. no chance of that, he'd have to borrow somebodys 'readers'. Sheridans still owes me the deposit I gave them on the final Niter that they cancelled at short notice on us... good job it wasn't like previous events where we'd paid them up in full in advance - i had a gut feeling that they were about to bail so gave them the minimum.
  17. "High Quality Vinyl Reissue NEW & SEALED" Probably gives it away...
  18. Dodgy custom job with Capitol labels stuck on IMO. Not enough tracks on for it to be a test pressing for an LP.
  19. C L Blast - Double Up - Hip 1960s Reissue of the Stax label release with slightly different title on the flip. Most other things on the label are late 60s hippy tripe. Not expensive but a very hard to find issue IMO.
  20. "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...."
  21. I'll find it out tomorrow and get back to you then,
  22. It's a deal - so long as they are indigestion pills.
  23. £6.00 is still too much for that load of tripe.
