Went to the local sorting office today to collect an oversized package. Lo and behold, behind the counter, they now have a new set of shelves, built in the last few months, purely for items attracting "Customs" charges. I asked the postie about this, and although he wouldn't admit to there being a purge on customs fees, he did say that he was processing many more than ever.

Last time I was in Chicago, I was given a contact who worked at one of these storage unit places, and he bid on them when they came up. All of the main dealers had been to him in the past and he was pretty bitter about what he'd sold them and the prices they'd paid. His best find was three copies of Lee McKinney & The Magnetics - When I'm With My Baby - Sable, one of which had a slight warp - wrapped in a sweater and in a chest of drawers.

People have stopped looking in boxes, because of ebay and online purchases. I take boxes out to packed venues - perfect example being the Horse and Groom, yet it's the same three or four faces that look through the boxes, You can't blame my pricing because I almost always manage to sell 45's to those who look - and i'm willing to strike a deal. Daft thing is, some people are unwilling to pay a tenner for a quality 45, but will buy a beat $5 copy then pay postage on it, and think they've got one over on you since they managed to get one "cheaper".

People tend to want unissued acetates only, because acetates wear out and are easily damaged, so a vinyl copy would be preferable.

I've also seen it pass through eBay a few years ago - possibly all the same copy, but if not that makes at least three.

I'll have twenty at £30 each. Paypal cash waiting.
