  1. Few bits on Vocalion - couple of Little Junior Parkers, Bud Harper and Roger Collins. Otis Redding Evolution Demo Couple of other UK demos and issues.... nothing mega rare buta few good £20 sounds
  2. Missed opportunity... How they could show clips of the Supremes singing drivel like "My Favourite Things" and completely omit anything by the Temptations is astounding. Didn't even mention the shift into Psychadelic Soul and the social commentary in its lyrics. Ah well, here's hoping next weeks is better.
  3. Low value..... Under a tenner definately. Used to come in Anglo American Soul packs in the 1990s.
  4. Be interested in the Ellie Greenwich if it plays ok.... Not too bothered about Mint copies, just need to sound good.
  5. And that fcuking abomination 'Baby I Need Your Loving' by Gayle Adams..... and 'Crazeee World' by Kenny Thomas..... and 'Space Laydeeeee' by Bill...... and.........
  6. Unfortunately both pressed up on 7" spastic plastic... Stardust label for former, Kent label for latter...
  7. I can do you another big box full of 70s/80s tracks if you fancy it.... Say 100 singles?
  8. Jive Five had a track called "a bench in the park" on UA..... could be that....
  9. sorry Christian, Sometimes forget that you are not from the UK, so unlikely to read the sarcasm into my comment.... Knew exactly what you meant. Still think you let it off light.... mnaybe you are a closet New World fan?
  10. Not Curtis.... that's a classic. I meant New World... piss poor inmho
  11. Christian, Do you think its that good? Personally I think the vocal is shite and its far too messy.
  12. bought my U.S demo for $5 a couple of years ago... cost me $15 to ship it though.... As you can probably guess, I didn't complain about the postage cost.....
  13. No but a man is as good as his word in my opinion
  14. I spoke to the new owner yesterday. He called me to tell me Saturdays Allnighter was cancelled, even though we had been promised that all dates booked were to be honoured. The club is now closed for refurbishment, with a new dancefloor and P.A. being installed. He did mention the possibility of future Soul events, and that he would like to keep things going in that vein, *but* the cost would be a major implication (i.e. he wanted more money). I won't be returning there, I'm already smarting about the fact that I couldn't reach Rodz via phone because he had gone to Spain and went ahead with printing flyers etc, because no one had kept me informed of the final date for handover... Still at least I didn't turn up on the night to find the doors locked, so there is some small consolation.
  15. Seconded, Unfortunately for someone selling its only a £10 - £15 record........
  16. Its a boot... original is Yellow.
  17. Only Earl Connelly and Ollie Jackson worth any kind of money, and the Ollie Jackson was booted.... whats the Ollie Jackson label like? Earl Connelly worth £25ish... All others £15 or less.... some only a fiver (Otis Clay)
  18. After much speculation, I was today informed that Sheridan's has been sold, and is now closed for refurbishment until further notice. The new owner said he would like to carry on with some 'Soul' nights, but seemed very 'money' orientated, so I can't see this happening anytime in the future. Regrettably, this now means that this weekends 'Back Beat' All-nighter has had to be cancelled. Please pass this information on to anyone who you know may be likely to travel to Sheridan's. I can only apologise to all those looking forward to this event, and stress that it was entirely beyond the control of 'Back Beat' promotions. Hopefully, I will be able to announce a new venue for 'Back Beat' shortly. As an alternative this weekend I would recommend visiting the Samantha's All-nighter, where there are two rooms of Northern Soul, one Oldies and the other a mixture of current styles including 'R&B'. Cheers, Joe.
  19. Yep its German...... Orig deffo on Curtom
  20. Seen listed @ £50 this week.... possibly Chris Andertons list... Very hard to find on original 1972 U.S. release as it was a complete flop in the States. Released just after in the UK and Europe where it went on to be a chart hit.
  21. Soul in my bones? Nah, I find marrow does the job much better.
  22. Will have to be after the weekend... got a lot on from now until sunday....
  23. Garlic cruncher who can't pronounce the words right? Nah, stick with 'Herb' and his magic trumpet.
  24. Gotta be Herb Alpert.....
