  1. I've had a couple of other non-record parcels sent from the US and they have been a bit on the slow side.

  5. I've had a swanflight box for a few years - it got crushed in the back of my van (to the point where I had to pull the side of the box straight) yet not a single 45 was damaged.
  6. Those numbers indicate that Willie Small was the original issue. At a guess The Living End was the plug side on Curtis Smith, and they decided to fill the flip with one of his earlier recordings (getting the wrong master in the process).
  7. If anyone wants a Gaslight copy I've got a minter for £15 inc UK P&P.
  8. Some of the Curtis Smith are miss-pressed with How High Can You Fly on them.
  9. Not rare, just indemand a few years ago. Stick a search into Popsike to see exactly how not rare it is: https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=lou+lawton+wand&thumbs=&currsel=&sortord=&x=6&y=6&incldescr=1 61 entries - and that's only the ones that show up on Popsike via eBay - loads of private sales out there....
  10. Last year I went to Las Vegas for the Xmas period. I only had 1 half day available for record stores, so I decided to hit the one near the Airbase East of Freemont. There was only a hand full of boxes of vinyl left, but I managed to find a nice clean Tobi Legend "Time Will Pass You By" on Demo marked up at $20. When it came to settling up, the guy behind the counter knocked it down to $12 since I'd had a bit of a natter to him during the hour or so that i spent in the store.
  11. So did Peters and Lee... No kidding.
  12. Think Go Go was a Washington thing - Maxx Kidd is the name widely associated with the style, and I think Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers on Source was one of the genres biggest hits.
  13. some folks don't like other people know what they are buying...
  14. I always list mine as private. Downside is if you suspect someone of shill bidding.
  15. Never heard Big Maybelle played in a main room, so didn't include it.
  16. 1957. Didn't realize it had 'Northern' plays.
  17. Just remembered another earlier one - Irma Thomas - Don't mess with my man - 1960
  18. Charles Sheffield is probably the earliest regular Northern Soul play - recorded in about 1961 if my memory serves me right.
  19. There's loads, but this would always be in the top ten... Along with this one....
  20. Fame came late in life for her, but Betty Lavette should have been a household name in the 60s, 70s, 80s....
  21. Barnsley Man Irate That His Historic Collection Deemed Worthless. Local Cudworth resident Billy 'Casper' Butterthwaite has reported to the Barnsley Chronicle of his disgust at the derisory offers made to him by local record stores for his extensive vinyl collection. "I sey, nah then, I cun't b'live my lug'oles wen laddo said they were worth noball. I think it's some kinda swiz, I mean, thev got reckids int winder priced up at bluddy 'undreds." "One of the cheeky beggars even said he'd only charge me a tenner to tek em away, I sey." Mr Butterthwaite is now seeking the assistance of an acknowledged Vinyl specialist to appraise his extensive collection of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, James Last and Klaus Wunderlich albums.
  22. Depends if you want carved vinyl ala Vinyl Carvers (the company) or Acetates, in which case Timmion are acknowledged to be the best,
  23. Tamla Motown Johannesburg at a guess.
