  1. Excellent Ballad flip on the Marva Whitney.
  2. I bought my Yum Yums in the late 1990's/early 2000's as one of my first purchases off Yahoo Auctions (anyone else remember them?). Seller took it straight back when I confirmed it was a counterfeit - almost too quick in returning my money...
  3. I have no idea what you are on about.
  4. Jimmy Thomas
  5. there's also a Fontella Bass (if it's the Gold label we're talking about) Also came out on Orange...
  6. Include EPS (Jukebox, European. UK) and you've got a sale here...
  7. Chuck Bridges - realistic price about £15 - £20
  8. Not 100% on this, but doesn't one have Piano throughout, and the other Organ?
  9. Silly post featuring a Nikki Minaj and Justin Bieber video removed. Lets try and keep it as near on topic as possible.
  10. It doesn't state in a Northern Soul venue in the original post, so is it really in that context? There is life outside of the Northern Soul scene.
  11. I've had my full eight hours kip, so that'll have to wait.
  12. To be honest Pete, you could have typed just Wibble in every response and you'd have come across just the same....
  13. OK, as an off-shoot of Northern Soul, the Ray Agee does get played in R&B clubs (Mace, Callum, Johnny Pezella have all played it in R&B spots in R&B clubs) So using your argument that if it's played in a Northern Soul venue, it is Northern Soul, then surely, if it's played in an R&B venue it's R&B?
  14. Pete S, on 16th Apr 2013 about 3 hours earlier said: Some strange definitions of R&B here, this has been known as an out and out Northern Soul classic for over 30 years and now it's classed as R&B? Mar-Vels was Northern Soul as far back as 1973 and Jimmy Frazer is also 100% Northern Soul, albeit with a blues harmonica...
  15. So Rhythm and Blues is a lot broader than you appear to think it is....
  16. I'd say more like £125 on the Willy McDougal, but that's probably because I still haven't got one... Deloris Ealy is quite a hard one (shares the backing with other tracks inc Kenyattas In Your Town) - I'd ask £60+ for it.
  17. Look on the back of a lot of UK Tamla Motown LPs, and at the top right hand corner it says File Under: Rhythm & Blues
  18. Anyway, we'll have to agree to disagree about Ray Agee being R&B (although I'd like to hear your definition of R&B on another thread maybe)... So here's three from me in an attempt to get the thread back on track: Zu Zu Blues Band - Zu Zu Man - A&M John & Carol - Get Your Hat - Botone Little Joe Hinton - Lets Start A Romance
  19. tommy rot. It's an R&B record that was played on the Northern Soul scene. Just like The Outsiders Time Won't Let Me is a Garage record that was played.
  20. Not at all, the point i was trying to (humorously, although at too high an altitude for you) make, was that just because it is considered a Northern Soul record (which it is) that doesn't stop it being an R&B record - it isn't as black and white as that.
  21. Sorry it took a while to respond, I've been on to Derek Acorah, who contacted Ray for us, and Ray said "Northern Soul? Never heard of it." Case closed.
  22. I'm sure Ray Agee, that well known Rhythm and Blues artist, walked in to the studio and announced.... "Hey Guys, let's make a different kind of record this session, I've heard that this thing called 'Northern Soul' is going to become massive in Mill towns in the North of England, let's give that a try, eh?" Or maybe, just maybe, he recorded a R&B record, that happened to fit the template of Northern Soul, I know where my money lies.
  23. It's a while since i had to remove one of these, so bear with me... It's tricky but if I remember correctly, you need to slide the centre as far as it will go diagonally in one direction, push down on the short tab, then push the centre in the opposite direction. It should then just pop out. There's a definite knack to it.
