I've got all of the Soul City and Action label albums... the Mighty Sam and The Betty Harris were definately the hardest to find...
I think most copies of the Mighty Sam had been exported to Japan by now.
Another hard Action album is the "These Kind Of Blues" various artists... John Manships never had one... I've got two...
Marvellous Marvelettes
Martha Reeves - Come And Get these Memories - Oriole
Mighty Sam - Soul City album.
Betty Harris - Soul Perfection - Action
Baby Washington - With You In Mind - United Artists
Bobby Bland - Two Steps From The Blues - Vocalion
Chess label of this must be rarer - it seems there's a Tarpon copy on eBay every month.
Billy The Kid Emerson (the Tarpon label owner - the majority of releases on the label were his) was A&R at Chess for a while, so presumably that's why they picked it up for national release.
The square route of Bugger all I'm afraid.
Give the Marvin Gaye and Drifters album to someone and make yourself a friend.
Give the Motorcity samplers to someone and make yourself an enemy......
Do they not expect to sell hundreds if not thousands of these knock offs?
Economies of scale... hardly seems worth producing ten copies of a 45, when the real money is in bent DVDs, Assault rifles, Cocaine and the smuggling of child prostitutes?
Also came out on a Charly Roscoe Shelton compilation "Strain On Your Heart", both of which were released in 1987.
There's every chance it's also out on a Japanese P-Vine LP as well, since a lot of the releases on Charly LPs were also issued in Japan on that label.
Aharr
Ye mus' hold yersel' a Black Mass, i tell thee.
If th' Dark Lord Lucifer arises up out of the Pentagram, a' scratching his goolies and a' chantin' "United one Wednesday nil", then it be a real 'un.
Yarr.
Only noticed tonight that I can't get the final prices on any auctions with this link:
https://www.raresoulforum.co.uk/jm_auction....xt&num=2339
Used to show the end price at the bottom... now there's nowt there.
Bugger!
If Chris Anderton listed it as sold for £100, then he sold it.
He's a straight down the middle kind of bloke and your use of the term "apparently" is out of order.
