  1. i've seen a more than a handfull go through eBay over the last 5 years - all to DJs... Not as rare as some would have you think.
  2. Strap a shredded wheat to my head and I'll play Wankstainly.
  3. hence the hammered bit....
  4. You're right about the LP. Nothing much else of note. It's only on the UK version of the LP as well, even though the covers are the same, the U.S. copy has a different track listing. I wonder if it was first played off this LP?
  5. Roger Banks used to play it regularly. It was hammered a bit a few years ago, so that may be why it's got stuck to the back of DJs boxes.
  6. Original is on Epic (Yellow issue or WD) Re-issue is on CSP (Columbia Special Products) Bootleg is on S.O.S and the sound quality is atrocious - dubbed off a poor condition disc.
  7. Be interested to see a Maxx copy of this, since it was recorded at Motown after they'd left the Maxx label...
  8. Yet another case of people panick buying the Emporers New clothes. Meanwhile, 90% of 'Record Buyers' are unwilling to take a punt on £10-£15 45s - because they must be crap, 'cause they are cheap. Good Luck to the seller - he had the gumption to ride the record hype gravy train, and get off a stop before everyone else.
  9. John Manship charges top whack for records because.... a. He pays overheads - tax, vat, staff wages, heating, lighting etc. b. He can. £10 tops to everyone else.
  10. How about sticking all of your value questions on one posting, that way someone might be able to give you a response to them in one go.
  11. it wants putting in a pack - and sending to the bottom of the briney. Yarr.
  12. i've got a mental image of Kev Roberts sat on an armchair formed out of piles of Destiny singles, and glancing across his missus, shivering on a sofa made from them and saying to her.... "If you're cold, throw another Destiny issue of the Delites on the fire..."
  13. Listened to the soundclip on Manships auction, and goota say I prefer Big Maybelles version of "Be My Chaffeur"....
  14. This is a joke, right?
  15. Go on then - who's gonna be the first to fess up that they're run past the concrete boat pretending to be chased by Rover?
  16. Unfortunately not. Whilst a gentlemans word might be is bond, these days it's not enough to sue. A tenner deposit and a reciept outlining the agreed sale would have been though.
  17. Agree with you entirely, he should have given you the chance to up your offer, meet him halfway, whatever... or even a call out of courtesy to say he'd decided to take a better offer.
  18. That's the one Marc, the label with the silhouette of a girl sat in a chair.
  19. Looking at it from his p.o.v. - a grand is a decent wedge of cash. He'd promised them to you - he should have at least let you know the situation about the higher offer. In this situation I don't think you can blame Soulmine - they probably asked what the highest offer was and beat it, probably not knowing that he had accepted your offer.
  20. Shaine Hunter - pretty sure this was issued and demo'd on Sue records as being by Shaine/The Mighty Shaine. If it is the same track , then you should get one pretty cheap.
  21. Hands shook? Deal done I.M.O.
  22. how very philosophical.
  23. Not a patch on Big Maybelles I.M.O.
  24. The best way to do it. You'll have much more fun picking away at the cheaper end of your wants list than blowing your credit card on a couple of big price items.
  25. I think that's because the Modern rooms tend to empty after 3am.
