    "Don't Look Down" is okay, but the flip is ruined by some awful guitar overdub, would sound good without it.

    Your not alone there, Voices is a big fave of mine, ever since I heard Dean Anderson play it years ago, I play it out myself and never noticed it having the same backing as Phonetics!

    I think they are Detroit recordings, I don't have the records anymore but, don't remember anything concrete suggesting they were west coast pressings? with regard to the "DOC" records I don't believe there was any real Philly connection just a red herring to throw Motowns west coast office off the scent.

    Your version is definitely much, much clearer and has a slightly different vocal track. My demo like all the above is muffled, I doubt it's down to the stamper being dirty as a new stamper would've been made for the MCA re-release and this has exactly the same distortion.
