  1. It's a record recorded by a white guy for Monument records in 1966, it's risque title got Decca/London UK worried enough to pull it from release. It is not a ska record.
  2. What ska records were played at the Torch, and Va-Va's and the Mecca, I d love to know?
  3. Sorry, but thats total bollox, the modern variation as you call it, is "disco" to many of us and has nothing to do with NS but we have to endure thread after thread about it i.e. a whole thread devoted to Travares. If modern is acceptable then so should SKA/Reggae be, as they are far more to do with NS soul music as is RnB and probably beach music and doo wop, than moderrrrrrrrrn will ever be. I certainly don't advocate banning "modern" I just choose not to read the threads about it Those aspects of this site were here from the start, they were'nt hijacked!
  4. Type away we'd love to hear your opinion
  5. Thank you Pete, Some sanity, in place of some threats.
  6. My post says "Soul Source", not ska source thats it, if you've got any personal problem with me you can pm me
  7. You what? I'm not imposing my views, just saying I didn't want it imposed on me, get back in your box.
  8. With all respect I disagree this site is "Soul Source" and since the start has been been a site dedicated to Northern Soul and its modern variation, I won't comment on where you grew up or where you went, but, for me the allnighter scene meant I didn't have to listen to reggae or funk, I don't have to be diplomatic about this, otherwise the last 29 years would've been wasted.
  9. It's "Soul Source", not "SKA Source" can we not fill up valuable space to posts which should best be served on a site for ska lovers, don't mean to offend anyone but, it's not an interest of mine, or if it's open season am I allowed to make endless posts of stuff I like?
  10. They are counterfeits, before the grapevine release; just
  11. Yes, Keb played it from an Atlantic acetate, which had a "brighter" sound to it than the EP version; think it came from Tim Ashibende
  12. Might be a idea to scan it or take a photo
  13. Butch picked up and threw a pressing of Walter & Admerations across the stage at Congleton or somewhere like that, thus starting a craze
  14. Not sure about that James, but, spiking someones spot is out of order, no question; perhaps it's better not to be reliant on a small amount of records.
  15. All of the above....
  16. My copy has no artist credit, don't think it's rare, seen quite a few of them.
  17. If it's the "big" version it's Jack Hammer UK only release I think as well, blue/silver UA, sorry haven't got a sound clip
  18. Jack Hammer on United Artists?
  19. I thought this was a fairly common record, am I wrong?
  20. You got a bargain there mate
  21. It also exists as a white demo on Revere, old Lenny Welch "In this World" c/u
  22. That one was cracked! the one that Mike had on Ebay last year, plus Jesse has one hanging on his wall
  23. This is desperately sad news, especially when I last saw Jim he was so full of beans (wasn't he always). I remember years ago Jim making the considerable trek across London to my old flat in Docklands to fix my video for me, he refused payment, and said a tape and a hot meal from Jet would do, that generosity of spirit of his was always there. From a DJ'ing point of view it was always good to see Jim whirling about to your latest acquisition. From Jet Just the sweetest man ever, Jim will be so missed. our condolences to his family and friends. God Bless Jim Jet & Tony
  24. A little bump before I put them on Ebay..... Make me an offer.......g'wan
  25. Perigents "Love on A Rampage" nice copy of this Detroit gem £45
