  1. Wasn't it Lord Sitar and the Baltimore Band?? Soul Blenders-Knight started off as Charles Thomas then became Soul Shakers?
  2. I've got this on Argentine Tamla 33rpm 45 post a pic up when I find it!
  3. Ady, deffo inst first as The Dance Track "Marsha Gee" remember hearing Keb playing it before he got stuck into Peanut Duck.
  4. You wont regret it, especially "No Other Guy" from his unreleased Big Top L.P., fantastic sound, Randy would've raved about this set.
  5. Lee Bates "Why Don't You Write" c/u as George Blackwell "Just A Little Letter"
  6. Ady, put them both out on Kent Select, maybe with an Inst. on the flip, "Same Old Thing" springs to mind, and consign those Foul Sox boots to the past.
  7. CDKEND 333 Just spent the past couple of days playing through the latest Kent CD highlighting Lou's career at Big Top and Big Hill, If, like me you dig the big city sound of Mid-Sixties New York then this set is definitely for you. From Lou's reading of Bacharach & David's "Reach Out For Me" through to the previously unreleased extended version of "Unsatisfied", (worth buying the CD for this alone, I remember Tim Ash putting this on tape for me years ago and I'd completely forgotten about it). Via his biggest hits, which were both subsequently covered and outsold by UK artists, (Sandie Shaw & Adam Faith) and containing unreleased gems, including his take of "The Panic Is On", It seems remarkable there hasn't been a retrospective before, which seems criminal considering Lou's talent for interpreting the songs contained here. A labour of love for Ady you can tell, and as expected the usual high standard CD booklet full of rare scans and information, the sound quality is crystal clear, so full marks to Ady and all at Ace towers for another outstanding set.
  8. Hi Chalky, It was Little Ron & Esquires on Charade "I Found Someone"
  9. Tears was initally an LP track only (1967), it was selected to be a UK 45 release well before its eventual US 45 release(1970), it was also deemed to be a little slow, so it was speeded up slightly (in the UK); this may explain this anomaly. It was one of the first times the UK market dictated this unusual turn of events. There had been different mixes released here before, Contours "First I Look At The Purse" being a prime example, generally the US release would be out some 3 months before the UK one, by the time "Tears" was released stateside it had been at No.1 here for some time.
  10. Think it's the scan Dave, mine is deep red/burgundy. There was one the bay last week, which didn't sell and the dealer wanted in the region of $600 for it.
  11. Looking to replace stuff, demos would be nice
  12. Dorothy Moore wasn't in Dawn, it was Telma Hopkins and Joyce Vincent Wilson.
  13. I was playing it c/u (from a dub admittedly!) several months before Butch got it off Martin, 1988? first aired at the 100 club as "Freddie Chavez" Just to pad out the story a bit.
  14. Finders Keepers, Lovers Weepers, Melvin Elling & The Casuals on The Square, I believe.
  15. Grand Prees came out on another label: Golden Groove 101 Chavis Label "Like a Bee" and Matadors 1034 "Say Yes Baby" are in same numbering.
  16. A Keb biggie at Stafford c/u as Detroit Shakers, I believe it came from Guy Hennigans junk pile!
  17. The Combinations "What'cha Gonna Do" was played covered-up as The Chessmen "Like I Never Did Before".
  18. In Berlin for a couple of days in Jan 6-8, any shops worth a visit?
  19. Most of the BOO releases have different colours/label designs and all are collectable, for example I've had "Come On Back" on 3 designs, wasn't being sarcastic, my friend.
