I for one will miss Rods sense of humour on here, but salute his sterling work....and still look forward to buying the occasional mint + off him!
-
Rod set the bar high, very few can match, please take note whoever takes over role
-
Jeez, that's jumped, I traded mine 10 years ago for Lonnett Blue Jean!

Aldo, why do you save the one Verve record I need to replace when the gods of coin have left my vista?

How much is your budget?

I contacted the son of Duke Browner today about the Gucci promo ...... I've tried to talk to him for a number of years about collecting royalties but he does not seem interested. he is very polite but that's as far as it goes.
he said he has no 45s and no master tapes
I will keep on trying to touch base with him if only to see that Duke's wife gets some money
Andy
If some good come out of this...

Made me cry watching the interview of the young lady with the Afro. I just wasn't prepared for her dance.
It made my day!

couldnt believe when Mark told me last night, tragic news, really sad, first met Mick at Stafford and got chatting through a mutual friend, Chris Brennan who'd been in the RAF with Mick, and although a few years older and had a few more years on the scene, was enthusiastic and welcoming to us Southerners, think he bought "Baby Boy" Juanita Williams off me for a couple of quid, this was a time when no one wanted "common" records on Golden World and the like, and mostly they sat unloved at the back of most record boxes, next time I saw him, he gave me a couple of records as a thanks, as he'd managed to buy about 20 records for a quid and under he wouldn't have bothered looking at and couldn't thank me enough. He really was one of the good guys, I'll really miss not seeing him turn up with that big grin. Condolences go out to his family who, hopefully can get some comfort from the sentiments expressed from all his soul family on here and on Facebook.
Rest in Peace my friend, you've left us far too soon x

Selling or buying?

Good luck mate, think you'll struggle to trade this for records of that calibre

This was really popular when I started going out to soul nights again in 2002. Think it's a great double sider and always dance to both sides if I hear it played out. Would be interesting to know who the ladies were, but there so many mysteries like this in our music.
Along with Joy Lovejoy, Vala Regan, perhaps we'll never ever know?

The first copies I saw of these were in the 90's from John Manship - It was suggested they were "new finds", but I suppose they could have been around earlier as I was off the scene late 80's to early 90's.
I have it in mind they were brown translucent plastic (Like B Holloway, and around the same time) but can't be sure now. Will have a look later and see if they are.
Cheers
MickHmmm. Well I only have E Laskey by the look of it. It appears at first glance to be solid plastic, but holding it directly at a real stong light (I used the Sun), it does show it to be "just about " see-though, but nowhere near as translucent at B Holloway etc.
John was definately first with these, I got them from him at the time.

Always thought this was a very underrated 45, other side is good too from memory.
