  5. RE : New Sounds Turbo LP Lovely crossover sounds, nearly bought a copy from Kin Bee on P.Vine , but skipped because it was a pricey for my pocket. Nice one! Mick P.S. Thanks to Doog for his input on the "My love is your love^track. During the early 80T's I pestered Dave Evison to play it on his Signal show, Which he did eventually but without any reaction. I spotted today that both versions are on the new Isley's Motown CD anthology, along with most of the other then previously unreleased 70's MFP and regal Starline material.
  6. Was that a US only release until the UK EMI Starline LP ? Thanks for the response.

All time classic. Played everywhere at one time or another. This copy courtessy of Dave Scutt some 8 years ago.

Davo sold me this at Bews Records in Burslem in summer 1970. I sold it on, then bought it back. Consequently it's seen better days, though it plays VG+
  9. From the album: Rare UK Soul Releases

UK produced blue eyed version of the Jackie Wilson classic. Lacking "soul" IMOP, though some staffer must have heard it in one of the clubs of the day, as it was an unusual choice for someone aiming at the POP market: Here:

I'm in the minority now I know, but I watching 500 dance to this on the main floor endeared it to me. Subsequently I bought this copy about 1978 for £1m from the Casino record bar. Shortly after it lost all credibility with soulies.

Classic Wheel Tune , flip to the horse. Still underated.

Love it or loath it ? The other nice BG track.

  14. Hi all Motown are of course well represented with a number of LP only tracks under this thread. 24 Hours is a classic - I also note that someone else has posted refos of Edwins War & Peace tracks, including the underrated "she should have been home" Earlier in this thread The Isley's My Love is your Love was also highlighted. Does anyone know who was responsible for breaking this tune? The LP Tamla Motown presents The Isley Brothers on MFP,is not rare as such, but was a bit of a surprise at the time of release (from memory about 1971) since it included a number of quality previously unreleased tracks. These included My Love, Born to love you and sad souvenirs. Some of these have not received the credit that they deserved, for instance Born to Love You was covered by a number of motown groups including the Temps, however the Isley's is in my view the best version. An alternative mix of My Love was also made available as a bonus track on a 2002 CD release of the This Old Heart of Mine LP. For some strange reason in the early 1970'S EMI put out a number of previously unreleased Motown tracks on their budget Sounds Superb and MFP labels. These included Kiki Dee's excellent version of "I'll try something new" , the Isley's and Jimmy Ruffins' "born to be bad" . There was also a great stereo version of Mary Wells greatest hits which included a first rate version of "when I'm gone" . If anyone picks this up I'd be interested to know the history of that particular version , in particular where else it was released. Any feedback on these comments would be appreciated. Up until now there have been some great suggestions and tracks posted under this thread. Thanks Mick

    Great collection. Nice one. Mick
  16. Hi Folks Chosen Few - Taking all the love i can get - Maple 1972 I believe that this rare Canadian LP was made available on CD some years ago, however this is cut from a C60 that my old pal Ray Saunders sent me about 10 years ago. This album is captivating on both sides and littered with good n.soul and funk tracks. There's also an unrelated reggae group with the same name. 18. Hi everyone Some great suggestions there. I guess I meant LP only rather than rare. I agree with Tommy do try to include a sound clip, if possible. The Leon Cook is a great crossover tune, which I've never heard of - is this a Carabean tune? Also Album title and label if possible. Thanks for contributing & keep it up.
