  1. "And to the diverse ecc;ectic soul mix that would and could only be done to this standard, by yourselves, to Kick Off the SPRING Collection I have chosen a CLASSIC UK Group of the 60s, and one of the great B sides of all time, Typical MOD R&B cover, so good it's BRILLOANT!!! DECCA F-12332 the ANIMAL -"OUTCAST", Year 1966, Value £4 issue, DEMMO £15 Rated *****" Also on the LP "Animalism" nice one! This has also been a personal favourite, though I wonder whether they've sorted out their dance steps in the last 35 years.... The Joneses "hey baby"
  2. Just a bunch of crooks? I take it that this is a recent revival of the Simon Soussan imprint? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GLORIA-JONES-COME-GO-ME-NORTHERN-SOUL-/280838876682?_trksid=p4340.m263&_trkparms=algo%3DDLSL%252BSIC.NPJS%252BSI%26its%3DI%26itu%3DUCI%252BUA%26otn%3D10%26pmod%3D200722360479%252B200722360479%252B200722360479%26po%3D%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D6908296038976099520 I can't recall this boot being around in the 70's Mick
  3. Don't rightly know if this qualifies for the thread, but what do you think of this: https://www.ebay.co.u...=item5ae5932fd0 ???? has it been covered elsewhere? Can anyone find the "hear" link to the actual tune? Thanks Mick
  4. Precious Memories , A wonderful piece of soul. Possibly my favourite track on the Detroit influenced Lp. Here's a duet from another underrated LP. From the duets album, "Boy Meets Girl" Bout time Adey put out "let's cross over again, again" Mick
  5. Nobody more surprised than me, it stuck at £40 until the last 30 secs. Very glad of the sale though as it'll fund something nice and new (to me) , anybody got a TSU 's "I still love" you on Volt? M
  6. Your right , but somebody's buying em. The scenes oldies obsessed in some quarters. I recently decided to sell off my old (I so mean old)boots, to fund some new originals. Doing this has broadend my knowledge of what's out there, whilst getting some nice new (to me) tunes which I wouldn't otherwise have been able to afford. Looking forward to receiving the Black Nasty LP on the way at the mo. Mick
  7. RE: Robert Parker "Barefootin" LP Island/Nola I know that this album is regarded as collectable, particularly in Mod circles. However since I've never heard it , I was wondering if there are any "killer" cuts on the LP other than the obvious dance hits (BF,Scratch,Let's go). I can't imagine the "covers" being of much interest, but how about "directly from my heart" or "heading for a fall" ? Have tried You tube but can't find anything. Any responses greatly appreciated: The full track listing is: BAREFOOTIN', LET'S GO BABY, MR. PITIFUL, I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU TOO LONG, SOUL KIND OF LOVING, C.C. RIDER, THE SCRATCH, HAPPY FEET, IN THE MIDNIGHT HOUR, DIRECTLY FROM MY HEART, HEADING FOR A FALL, I CAN'T HELP MYSELF. Incidentally staying with the same artist, Is this a Boot ?

  19. In case it helps here are a couple of scans that don't fit the norm (black) I would be interested to know whether there are several coloured issues on Hondo. See here and here. The second is an obvious boot. Link to Popsike scans here. Regards Mick

  22. Did this not all kick off around 1970 with the "Soul Sounds" label scam? Soul Sounds were sold in quantity at the Wheel, Torch and I think the Cat's. I seem to recall that perpetrator was a guy from Leicestershire, who may have been prosecuted at the time. Although I remember his name, I would be reluctant to post it for obvious reasons. The advent of the Torch all nighters prompted the birth of the Out of the Past (O.O.T.P) bootleg label. There was trouble over these products being advertised in Blues &Soul during the very early 70's and I believe that there was some connection with the short lived International Soul Club. If someone knows and can recall better than me the history of these early boot-ers, I would be interested to see their recollections on these pages. Interesting thread. Thanks Mick
  23. Still have a need if anyone has any available. Thanks Mick
