  5. I have come to like this Marva Whitney outing. I know its Funky and the 45 is actually better, but in case you haven't seen it, here it is live:
  6. This is being advertised on E-bay as a UK issue. Never seen a black one before: The Emotions - Got to be the man https://www.ebay.com/itm/Northern-Soul-U-K-45-STAX-Emotions-Got-Man-So-Can-Love-You-/221120182941
  7. Unbelievable, try to post any of those tunes on You-Tube and they'll now be blocked by Universal.
  8. The rare Pay Tons 101 issue appears to go for good money, the Tangerine issue goes for £25-£50. Popsike values here: https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=George+byrd&x=12&y=11
  9. My brother and I have had a couple of these a few years ago. About the rarest thing I had was Rare Pleasure "let me down easy". Though we did get some nice mint copies of Ric Tics JJ Barnes,Edwin, Detroit Emeralds etc. These aren't rare but they were in great condition. You quite often see many of the other titles turn up on the Bay with low min bids. I'm sure that someone must have found something in the past. I think they're great value if you sold your collection years ago and are thinking of starting again. Mick
  10. As far as I know this wasn't released on a 7 ,something about the Royalettes ,knife and plate spring to mind: The Royalettes I Cant Stop Running Away https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REqcoQVwAvU

  20. It's Time For the Swiss Movement: This 1973 RCA " It's Time For the Swiss Movement" album, was arranged by Motown arranger, David Van de Pitte. Apart from Cornelius Grant and (no doubt through the Van de Pitt Motown connection), the credits also boast input from Temp's Melvin Franklin and Otis Williams.Apparently they supported The Temps on tour. Members were: Ronald Williams,Arthur Booker Jr,Herbert Clifton,John Hodges.
  21. Better seems to have dropped a bit in recent months. Popsike values: https://www.popsike.c...humbs=&currsel= The other side "i want action" is OK for a RnB pick:
  22. I know that this off the Northern Soul track a ways, but it struck me how little I knew about European and British Mod . Though I'm sure it must have been done before, I wondered if anyone would be up for sharing a few tunes? It would be great if you could attach You-tube clips . Kicking off with: BOB SAKER Imagination Polydor 56231 1968
  23. You'd have thought that they'd have researched the time frame properly, not that it matters to most punters. Quote from Wikipedia: It was in their shop that Godin coined the term 'northern soul',[4] a description that he would popularise through his work as a music journalist. In a 2002 interview with Chris Hunt of Mojo, he explained that he had first come up with the term in 1968 as a sales reference to help staff in his shop differentiate the more modern funkier sounds from the smoother, Motown-influenced soul of a few years earlie: :"I had started to notice that northern football fans who were in London to follow their team were coming into the store to buy records, but they weren't interested in the latest developments in the black American chart. I devised the name as a shorthand sales term. It was just to say "Ëœif you've got customers from the north, don't waste time playing them records currently in the US black chart, just play them what they like - "ËœNorthern Soul'.
