  1. Royal Five Second Issues: is this what they go for these days:https://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-SWEET-SOUL-45-039-NORHTERN-SOUL-ROYAL-FIVE-TYLER-/131276593653?autorefresh=true&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=UGhkUON4AbkxpVeJNSAAEymrAO4%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  2. $50 is a decent price for this record today, based on auction values which have hovered between £80 - £100 so far this year, until the last two copies auctioned on Ebay, which have gone for a rediculous £200+, see here. I've got to give credit to Tom Smith of Beatin' Rythm for my copy which was a tenner, five or six years ago along with the mighty Sherrell Brothers, which was a little dearer. Although I havn't saught their advice recently , I'd asked him to tip me some tunes that he thought had some "legs" , these was amongst those. In the past he'd also tipped me Brown Sugar "the game is over" and Ace Spectrum. Sadly Vic Marcel "won't you come and fly" and Billy Frazier never flew to the same degree.
  3. The whole damn world has definitely gone crazy Stanky £212? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251612140589?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

  6. I also posted this on the Tommy Neal thread, but in my opinion it deserves to be here. My wife thinks I'm a right Victor Meldrew, but really "I don't believe it" : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOMMY-NEIL-GOING-TO-A-HAPPENING-VOCALION/301273030375?_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D555012%26algo%3DPW.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D23983%26meid%3D153b77848e3e460888387fdf7b452ae8%26pid%3D100010%26prg%3D9421%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D24%26sd%3D151382428547
  7. Nahh?? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOMMY-NEIL-GOING-TO-A-HAPPENING-VOCALION/301273030375?_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D555012%26algo%3DPW.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D23983%26meid%3D153b77848e3e460888387fdf7b452ae8%26pid%3D100010%26prg%3D9421%26rk%3D4%26rkt%3D24%26sd%3D151382428547
  8. You can always ask him to confirm. Best Mick
  9. One of my all time favourite artists. There appears to be one here on Discogs: https://www.discogs.com/buy/Vinyl/Johnnie-Taylor-Friday-Night-Steal-Away/138401788?ev=bp_rel_det Ignore the image on the release page as this is generic. The read the record description. Best Mick
  10. Perhaps worth noting that the RCA copy was re-issued on the flip of a rather idiosyncratic beat ballad called "time hangs on my mind", not a version of the Temps "Get Ready", as on the others: As it happens both were produced by the UK Popster and producer Keith Mansfield.
  11. Interesting wasn't aware of the RCA issue until now. Wondered if it might have been a re-take, but the Youtube RCA clip sounds the same to me. A CBS issue was auctioned by Manship a couple of months ago, it fetched £109, though he tends to get exceptional offers. See here: I think its a great UK production, worth a spin on any label. I confess to having owned the same copy since 1969 and only pulled it out when I saw the Manship Auction.
  12. What's going on in these people's minds?
  13. Pretty well established on the scene that Jerry Cook and Alexander Patton boots were cut with ripped off Capitol Labels. Funnily enough I was checking out a copy of "A little lovin" tonight out of curiosity for that reason, see here: (Though this looks legit to my eyes)https://www.ebay.com/itm/Alexander-Patten-A-Lil-Lovin-Sometimes-Northern-Soul-45-Capitol-HEAR-/191121504221?_trksid=p2054897.l4275&autorefresh=true or see this one: https://www.popsike.com/ALEXANDER-PATTON-A-LITTLE-LOVINSOMETIMES-US-CAPITOL-EX-/271294035368.html The other well known one is "the Dalton Boys" white VIP demo, which I once bought from a well known US dealer who had sourced a number of copies from the UK. This was some years ago and I got a full refund. He now sells these are re-issues. It seems to me that many of those mentioned above are well known boots, many having design variations from the originals. Mel Britt, the Malibu's, Sandra Philips,Mary Saxton and The Vondell's are all pretty good look a likes, but relatively easy to check these days. Interesting thread though.
  14. Ha,ahh,ha,ha! aaargh!
  15. Yes apparently, see here: https://www.popsike.com/N-SOUL-POPCORN-JUSTIN-JONES-DANCE-BY-YOURSELF/190773723700.html
  16. Sorry about the misleading info, though I swear that last time I tried to report a few weeks ago , that's what I came across. Wish I'd taken screen shots. See here: https://pages.ebay.com/vero/others.html The user forums are full of complaints about lack of action and feedback. here's what Ebay say themselves: "Your report will not be shared with the member you are reporting. We are happy to receive such information, but due to privacy laws, eBay cannot follow up and let you know the status of your report or inform you of any action we may have taken." Thanks Mick
  17. Same here. In fact bootleg reporting has become more difficult . Ebay require the reporter to download and print off a copy of their form, then Fax it to them. We ain't got a fax machine. Unless someone knows something else that I/ve missed, that is.
  18. I can only echo everyone's comments. A fabulous release from 2004, originally as a numbered limited edition CD by Hip-O-Select who specialise in the Motown back catalogue. Further copies and the MP3 version were made available much later. Bought one from Craig Moerer years ago and sent it back, cos according to JM Boots it was. Craig was ver appologetic (refund etc) and implied that he'd bought a count in good faith from a well known UK dealer. I note that these days he sells them as re-issues. Love this kind of blue eyed soul though. Torch classic.
  21. I never knew that, thanks for letting me know.
  22. Dependent on the rareity and condition of the tunes, I would say that generally you are better off ebaying individually. Alternatively there's the site on Soulsource or "the hassle free record selling group" on Facebook,https://www.facebook.com/groups/hasslefree/?fref=ts If you have some high quality rare UK items, its worth considering John Manship to auction them off individually. Here i'm thinking near mint or ex+ copies of tracks like The Invitations, Incredibles or scarce TMG's. Harsh though it might sound I feelthat most guys with their original "in the loft" collection have an inflated idea of their value. Condition is everything and selling can be hard work. I will be interested to hear what others suggest.
  23. 50p about 30 years ago for mine. I would have thought that it's "I feel like I'm falling in love again" that's the tune. Could have understood it for " I love you madly" TMG678 PS Can someone tell me how you can tell how many individual bidders etc on Ebay Thanks
  24. A lot depends on how the contributer recorded the clips,in terms of volume or whether extra bass or mid tone was applied to their recording. These Youtube clips, may or may not be accurate to the label shown on the video: Pama: https://youtu.be/sA-sa8dUy44 Cala:
