  1. "Just tell him Jane said hello" was the answer record to Elvis Presley's "Just tell her Jim said hello". Was Gerri's the only version as I can remember the song at the time, but can't remember who the singer was? Reckon she did some good stuff, but never topped "I go to pieces ... everytime", one of my favourite NS tracks.
  2. Well said Gene, another artiste who had his work covered by white pop singers. Did he do any other soul records apart from They're Talking About Me?
  3. Thanks for posting the playlists Paul. Funny how I've just done a brief review for KTF and I could hardly remember a track that was played. Looking down your lists it is all coming back to me. See you Saturday.
  4. Just a quick note to say it was a great night, good music and great company. Probably drank too much, trying not to think what I was like. Guest Simon Bridger did a very nice spot with a good mix of music. Please post up some playlists guys. Thanks to all concerned.
  5. Gwen Owens - Wanted And Needed Dena Barnes - If You Ever Walk Out Of My Life Brenda Holloway - Crying Time and loads of others I can't think of now.
  6. I prefer a fast track to start me off, but if something I really like comes on I get out there. I always pretend to myself that no one can see me. That way I don't worry what I look like.
  7. Cheers Mike, all is now okay and I can hear it. Nice to hear the tracks I missed on th original broadcast, and also thanks to Hippo for posting it.
  8. I have been trying to listen to the Derek Pearson on BCB Part 1 - 60 mins in the Sounds section but am getting nothing. Tried clicking away and nothing happens. Is there a problem with the streaming or is it me? Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this question. Hope someone can help. It is not my sound card as I've just checked that I could play a Real Audio file.

I hope it becomes a regular programme.
  10. I Believe In Miracles is a great track in my opinion. It was played at Soul In The City, which is primarily a Northern night, when it was at the Old Blue Last pub near Old Street. I believe Rob Messer played it. But of course there wasn't a dance floor there. How do people on here feel about playing records like this at Northen nights?
  11. Haven't bought them yet, but I fancy the 3 UK Sue Story albums that have come out recently. I know they are a mix of blues, R&B, rock'n'roll and soul, but for an old ex-mod like myself they are a great collection.
  12. Born Islington Edmonton Enfield Hoddesdon, Herts Winchmore Hill
  13. Thanks for posting your playlist Gene, Lesley and I really enjoyed it, actually we enjoyed the whole evening at Boogaloo, thanks to Michelle and Rob Messer as well. Sorry we had to go before the last DJ took over. Which was the R&B one you played Gene, I hadn't heard it before but it was really good?
  14. The Walk by Jimmy McCracklin was issued in about 1958 on US Chess, on UK London, I imagine on both 45 and 78. It was played on BBC's 6.5 Special. In 1964 it was played in London "Mod" clubs, and on the dance spot on Ready Steady Go. It was re-issued on an EP, R&B Showcase on Pye International. In my opinion a great track that I would love to hear played now.
