Info Required On This Detroit Label?

Here is the Love Hangover side. All of these pressings are pretty terrible - I have had quite a few and some have skipped. Probably the worst pressing I have seen on a 45. Cheers Richard -
Anyone know what Connie Clark - My Sugar Baby (Joker) went for on Pat's recent auction please? Last time I looked - well before the end day - it was at £600 or thereabouts. Cheers Richard

Craig Moerer listed this up until fairly recently - but I can't remember the price - think it was 25 but can't recall if that was GBP or USD. Cheers Richard

7'' Antique Green "old Style" Paper Sleeve
Premium Stuff replied to Mike Lofthouse's topic in Look At Your Box
Hi Mike I have looked at these before and also the brown paper sleeves (they seem hard to find in the UK also - anyone know a good supplier - new please not John Manship's 60s sleeves). I think you just need to request a shipping quote. Anyone able to comment on what the shipping costs are like please (I would need a big order)? Cheers Richard -

'dipping' Records In Boiling Water - It Works
Premium Stuff replied to a topic in All About the SOUL
It would never work on styrene. I warped a styrene 45 just by wiping it round quickly with a soft cloth dipped in hot(ish) water Cheers Richard -
I have loved this track from the first time I ever heard it. Thought it might as well get posted-up here too PRECISIONS - SEND ME A SIGN - Cheers Richard

Apart from being around in the 70s this 45 has also featured on Sound Patterns label listings from way back. For instance it was in Rod Dearlove's Music Express #4 and although the label wasn't in Rod's A Collector's Guide To Detroit, it was on Chris Moore's follow-up catalogue of Detroit labels in Summer 1986. Manship's Guide rates it at £400. From Popsike I found one which said: SOUND PATTERNS DXM 6807/6809. We are selling this record for the recording artist Donald I. Burdick aka Doni Burdick. It was recorded in Detroit in 1971 utilizing some of the Motown musicians and pressed by Archer (Stamped in dead wax). It is one of the classic Northern Soul records. Don Burdick has offered to autograph the record if desired by the purchaser. It is in mint condition and from his personal collection. Full title "I Have Faith In You"/"Open The Door To Your Heart". It wasn't that - totally different. Cheers Richard

Hi Roger Yes, there are loads. As well as my 45s, I also have a nice collection of label scans that I have picked up over the years. This is a great source of information in itself by which to compare this kind of thing. Some variants are more obvious - like Juanita Williams - Baby Boy on Golden World having two versions with different producer credits - "Popcorn Wylie" or Bob Reeco (then even more variants of different label layouts). Others are significant print size type variations - e.g. Detroit Emeralds - Showtime on Ric-Tic has a normal print size version and a 'giant' print size issue also. Others are just basically the same information but with different label layouts. Typical for Golden World is that many releases have copies with Det. Mich. or Detroit, Michigan at the top of the label, while on other copies this is missing. If you have any specific queries Roger you are welcome to send me a PM. Cheers Richard

Thanks for all the info guys - very much appreciated. Thanks for the offer of some tracks Marc - very kind of you & I will drop you a PM Cheers Richard

On these two labels in particular I am a completist. I already have almost everything on Ric-Tic and Golden World on both the issue and either the white or blue demos (there are several blue demos on Ric-Tic) as well as several sticker demos. However, I want to get the lot to get the full set. For instance, JJ Barnes - Please Let Me in came out on a red issue, a white demo and a sticker demo (I have all three), plus there are at least two different versions of the issue with different credits. All worth collecting in my book. Significantly, some of the releases did not come out on white demo and the sticker demo is the only way to collect them. Hope that gives an insight into 'why' Just waiting for the PM's now Cheers Richard

Hi all I'm looking for 'DJ Sticker' demo copies on the Golden World and Ric-Tic labels please. The ones with the For Demonstration Use Only Not For Sale stickers as shown. If you can help out please PM me Thanks very much. Cheers Richard

Hi Mark No danger at all that you have upset or offended anyone - far from it. This was a topic worthy of some debate, which is why the two other threads popped up Cheers Richard

Having just typed a reply to Mark's post on this I then found it had been locked. Not sure why Anyway ... I take the point Mark, but if I am looking for a want myself I would also not normally put the price that I would pay for the same reasons Kirsty gave. Firstly, when asking for a want there is always the hope that you could pick it up for less than your 'best price'. Probably more importantly, you might get more than one person responding, with each person offering different prices, formats, and conditions for their 45s. This then gives you a choice - which for me is part of the reason for advertising a want - seeing what is out there in the market. In contrast, a person selling will most often have a single sale copy and also a price they have in mind they want for it. In my view it is best when the seller just names a price. No skin off anyne's nose if the two parties decide that price is not right. I am always open to negotiation when selling, and often haggle when buying. It is a buyer's market at the moment - and certainly not a seller's market. Book prices and even accepted market prices from a couple of years ago are simply often well over what pepole are prepared and able to pay at the moment when buying. Cheers Richard

Nice one Tony - great info thank you - very much appreciated. Cheers Richard

Anyone tell me whether there are any decent CDs covering the Fortune and Hi-Q labels please, and if so where I can pick them up? Cheers Richard

Here is a scan of the Jerry-O label release #110 Not sure if I have this 45 myself - will check and confirm the full details if I do. Cheers Richard
-
I have a copy here of the Mutt & Jeffo 45 on Jerry-O 106 (actually Craig Moerer's scans attached though). It says on the funky16corner site https://funky16corner...rryo_discog.htm that this is pasted on top of a Boo-Ga-Loo release. However, it is actually on top of the Sherwood release (can be seen in the pic if you look closely). Matrix number in deadwax on A-Side is SP-106A. On the B-side it is BL 101 B. Cheers Richard

Hi Chalky - did a search and found this: /forums/topic/99855-jerry-o/page__p__1051935__hl__jerryo__fromsearch__1entry1051935 But it doesn't give a Jerry-O listing - it's the label rather than the artist I need. I have started putting a list together of the releases (not that many) and I will post it up when it's done - then we can try and fill in the gaps. Cheers Richard
