Was it £190 or not then Seller can you please reinstate the sold price as per site rules? 6. Please refrain from removing any details from the ads after selling [or obtaining a want]. You can edit to show "SOLD" but better to leave the ad intact please, as the information therein contributes to a database other members can refer to when looking up current prices, availability etc Thank you Richard

Thanks mate

Sorry to sound negative, but I never look at your sales as they start with the song title - confuses the heck out of me. That seems unusual to me and maybe you would do better listing by artist - title - label as most people do? I would look anyway Cheers Richard

Pete - you said above that the price achieved was double the actual price - so on that basis you are saying you think the true value of the record is £287. That's very different to saying you would discount it to £287 to make sure you had cash coming in. That's all I'm saying. It's plainly not a £287 record It's misleading to suggest it is. Over and out Cheers Richard -

Totally agree Also, an individual selling a £500+ record at £300 because they need the money coming in does not make it a £300 record That is one of my concerns about previous posts - that people will think it's a £300 record because one person said they would sell it for that, even though they don't have one to sell. I think that potentially fuels record deflation. Cheers Richard -

Pete do you mean Jimmy Mack isn't rare or Tony Hestor on Giant isn't rare? Presuming you're talking about the Gambrells -You Better Move / Pain In My Heart on Carla - rather than the Gambrells - I Wan't To Be Yours / Pain In My Heart on Carla? The latter is soooo much rarer than the first and most people I talk to have never seen/had "IWTBY / PIMH" or even heard "I Wan't To Be Yours". I still think Tony Hestor on Giant is a rare record, especially to find it in top condition, and so it should command an appropriate price. For Detroit collectors, it is definitely up there in the rare, very good, double-sider, expensive and hard to get category - not a run of the mill record on the local Detroit release at all. Sure, I can see that the easily available national release on Karate (issue or demo - take your pick) might keep the price of the Giant release down somewhat for those who aren't quite as obsessed as folk like me about getting the original, local, rarest format all the time I think £500 (and the £574 in JM's auction this time) is below the true market value for a M- copy of Tony Hestor - and to be honest, selling one set sale for £300 would worry me. Reason why is that I am firmly of the view that it's possible to talk down the price of specific rare records and to depress the rare soul market generally. People who don't have the time or inclination to track details of price, condition, labels, formats etc. follow what people say on here, FB and elsewhere. I think there's a real potential risk that things like under-valuing records, talking down the rarity and value of rare items, and quick discounting can all have an effect on the price of such records (e.g. those held in collections, when they eventually come to market). In fact, I think this is already happening, partly evidenced by the strikingly fast discounting of sale items here on SS Cheers Richard -
I never thought I would say this sort of thing - but could this decision not be overturned if Ady and people going to the event bombarded social media - like Face book and Twitter used by the local authorities and the councillors responsible for the decision? People power and the power of social media? Cheers Richard

Rod - look at the "Add Reply" box at the bottom of this thread. When you click in that box, as if you were going to add a reply, a load of symbols appear. Along the top row of symbols (the row with the "Font" and "Size" drop down boxes and the smiley face there are three symbols to the right that look like brown envelopes or similar. The right hand one with a little blue and white "Word" symbol in the bottom right corner is the "Paste from Word" function that I believe Pete was referring to. I didn't know it was there but now I do Cheers Richard
