  1. Hi everyone Looking for a copy of : Johnnie Mae Matthews - Got To Be On (The Case)/You're The One (Art) Wanted in M or M- condition wth clean labels if possible please If you can help out please just PM me Cheers Richard
  2. Hi Keith If for sale - might be better off in sales rather than wants mate Cheers Richard
  3. Cheers guys I don't mind the intro too much for listening at home as I think it gives the song a bit of 'tension' from the start and so a bit more impetus when it finally resolves into the main vocal section Can totally see why it would be edited for the dancefloor though Which is best to have issue or promo? Cheers Richard
  4. Hi everyone I wondered if there were different takes of Cynthia & Imaginations - Love Is Real (Blue Rock) There is definitely a version with an unusual atmospheric spoken intro - this one from Refosoul cynthia and the imaginations - love is real - However, there is also a version on Refosoul that skips the intro and goes straight to the main vocal. This is also how it appears on CD release My copy of the 45 has the long spoken intro Is the clipped version just artificially edited or did it also come out as an original on vinyl like that? Cheers Richard
  5. A classic Detroit Northern sound and quite hard to pick up - but does it get played out much these days or is it just too 'old school' Cheers Richard
  6. Great selection of tracks on this LP though I was always surprised that on the cover they used an image of the bootleg copy of Sam Ward's Detroit classic 'Sister Lee' Cheers Richard
  7. Thanks for all the responses guys - much appreciated Still not got a clear answer to my original question - probably because I hid it away in the thread title Basically I'm just wondering whether the Eddie Spencer 45 is considered a legit Detroit record and so worthy of a place in a Detroit collection - or is it (like Stemmons Express) really a non-Detroit record that just hapens to have a borrowed Detroit backing? For instance, as basically a Detroit collector should I keep or get rid of mine, and could I play it in a 'Detroit' spot? Fun and games Cheers Richard
  8. Cheers Richard
  9. Think that's just the download price mate Cheers Richard
  10. Nice one Mike - cheers Would like to have seen that website - anyone got any more info on it please? Also, can anyone post up the flip to the Power Exchange 45 please? It's different to the Arc release and is not in Refosoul Thanks! Richard
  11. Eddie Spencer's version of the Precisions' If This Is Love (I'd Rather Be Lonely) came out on the Canadian Arc label. Eddie's release has an interesting combination of Toronto and Detroit credits (see scan) Anybody know the story behind the recording please? I had assumed the Detroit backing track was just re-used - hence the Mike Terry credit for arrangement - and that Eddie's voice was put on top in the Toronto studio Can anyone confirm please? Plus, is this generally thought of as a Toronto or a Detroit record (e.g. I would not have though of the Stemmons Express 'Woman Love Thief' as a Detroit 45 even though it re-uses the Presicions' backing track to 'Such Misery')? Cheers Richard
  12. Hi Mike - given that your question is so specific about one record, and that you are DJing probably just a couple of times a year (one or two venues?) the easiest thing must just be to check policy with the promoter and/or the other DJs - surely it's them that would 'not ask you back', rather than the punters? Cheers Richard
  13. Cheers Baz - nice one Yes, nice flip too as you said - quirky spoken intro which is very appealing, and I guess 'crossover' in style. Found that one in Refosoul too: june taylor - pick up the pieces - You're right about the Emanuel Laskey 45 - need that one for the collection Cheers Richard

  21. I'm still interested guys! Any info please? Cheers Richard
  22. Agree totally - why play a 2nd issue? - anyone can do that Decent DJs have the real deal 45s which is what it's all about in my opinion Plus, if you only play out a couple of times a year then that really underlines the point that you don't need to look at 2nd issues at all - as you only have 40 or 50 records to find for a whole year of DJing Why not just pick something else to play - or buy the one for sale on here at the moment? Hope this helps Cheers Richard
