  1. Agree with all previous comments. The tossers playing acetates from the recordings are just as culpable as the thief who did the recording - no promotoer with an ounce of integrity should hire any "DJ" that plays such acetates and the jocks in question should be named and shamed and not hired again. Anywhere. No excuses. It's pure and simply theft and frankly disgusting - we're better than that on the northern scene and these people should be excluded permanently. And if any of the tunes are pressed up, every soul night in the land should prevent any dealer selling this crap - again, no excuses. If anyone profits from this theft it's a disgrace. Come on - let's have some names of these so called DJs.... Rich
  2. Soul: Jimmy Soul Clark - Sweet Darlin' Showmen - Our Love Will Grow Valentinos - Sweeter Than The Day Before Non-soul: Wannadies - You and Me Song Bluebells - Young At Heart Pogues f. Kirsty MacColl (RIP) - The Fairytale of New York Style Council - Shout To The Top Actually saw Morrissey at the Leeds festival at the weekend - was on great form and was the star of the sunday for me - great set - pi$$ed on White Syripes etc. And no word of a lie, it rained all weekend - the rain held off until exactly the moment he left the stage and then it went back to monsoon!!!
  3. When backpacking as a student about 12 years ago, picked up Roy C - Gone Gone on German Metronome, complete with picture sleeve from a tiny little shop in Hamburg. Was only there one night and by chance the Skatelites were playing there - what a night!
  4. As I've said on a different thread, both Paypal and Ebay need you to let them know within 30 days to be totally covered by their insurance. I've waited longer than this for 45s before and they've eventually turned up, save for one parcel which never did. As I was out of time I lost it all (having said that it was only $25 so it could have been a lot worse). I'd keep trying to email the seller, but to be safe, you need to lodge within 30 days - check out the ebay and Paypal sites. You've got nothing to lose by lodging your claim - if the seller is legit it will probably hurry them along a bit. Good luck! Rich
  5. Great record! Just to confuse matters, I've got a 45 copy on U.S Polydor? I've seen the Prophesy 45s and the Urban release (incidentally - if you like your funk, get the Urban Classics Vol 1 compilation - Bobby Byrd, Maceo etc) but not seen another copy on U.S Polydor. I know that Urban is part of Polydor, but not seen another on Polydor - anyone shed any light on this? Probably just a later re-issue . Rich
  6. Got mine for £6 off Tim Brown's "Front Page Focus" many many moons ago! What I'd give for Tobi Lark "Challenge My Love" on the same label though. Good flipside on both too! Rich
  7. Definitely has to be Doug Banks - I just Kept On Dancing! Not rare, but had to pick that purely for the memories. I bought it when I was in the sixth form at school and working in Kwik Save (don't laugh - I still have the delightful purple overall at home somewhere!!) after school and on saturdays. It was a huge record at the time (1989) and I simply had to have it. Mick Smith had turned up quite a few copies and that was the first record I spent a lot of money on - well it was a lot compared to my part time Kwik Save wage - cost me £30 from Mick! Over the years I've spent a lot more on records, but as I say I HAD to have that record at the time and it meant such a lot to me getting that ellusive sound even if part of me thought (and knew!) I was totally barking spending a week's wages on a piece of plastic!! Happy days! Rich
  8. Following on from the Paypal thread, thought it would be useful for us all to name and shame those Ebay sellers (or other sellers come to that) who have recieved our hard earned cash and not sent the 45s, despite chase up emails etc. If you read this list it may jog your memory before you bid. Also be warned that you need to complain to Paypal/Ebay within 30 days to be safeguarded by their payment protection plans (I was outside of this limit). I'll start the ball rolling: Ebay Seller: Karldan Email address: karldan@mail.com Name used on Paypal account: Dana Fetty Rich

UPDATE! Paypal will only refund if you file complaint form within 30 days of Paypal payment - be warned! (I'm trying my best buttering up technique to see if they'll bend the rules!) Rich

I've used Paypal hundreds of times and never had a problem at all. If you ever do have problems. it's from the sellers. I'm still waiting for 2 45s from April from the same seller, having chased numerous times without a reply. His seller name on Ebay is Karldan, so AVOID this seller. I think naming and shaming dodgy sellers so that we're all aware is the way forward. I'll see if Paypal can help me like they've helped you.. Rich
