  1. I got very same reply (word for word) - said I wanted to listen to the record over the phone - reply was: "Hello, we will use email." I reckon it may be our Belgian firned again... Rich

  5. One I got through the post this week has an amazing flip I didn't know - bonus!! Willie Wade on Nite Life - When Push Comes To Shove/Come Into My World Think my all time fave though is still Rose Batiste - Hit & Run/I Miss My Baby on Revilot - I'll never get tired of it - still makes the hairs on my neck stand up when them punchy opening bars on Hit & Run come thumping out of the speakers... Rich
  6. Steve, I've emailed you. R
  7. Frank Foster - Harlem Rumble - remember this from late 80s with great affection and it still rocks me now Rich
  8. Given I work here at Yorkshire TV that makes Heartbeat for ITV, I'll find out for you. As someone has already said though - it is basically a period drama set in the 60s and thus you can't really have a go at the accuracy of the dates etc as otherwise the show would have stopped long ago - we're currently on Series 14!! I'll report back in a bit... Rich
  9. Collins - you're a dead man
  10. Good thread mate. Jackie Wilson also gets in on the action in "You Got Me Walking" ..But your cookin' is good, your kissin' is fine And your lovin', baby, is right on time And later... Oh, breakfast in the morning, right on time (Feels so good) While you teach the little baby (La-la-la-la-la-la-la) a nursery rhyme.. "Women - know your place!!!!" (and before anyone thinks that's me, it's an old 50s information broadcast, where they actually tell the woman how to be a good wife - have tea ready when he comes home from work etc - hilarious!! ) Rich
  11. I remember Mr Bicknell coming back from the States with a 100 box of them circa '93ish I think the same trip he turned up 25 Dean Courtneys on RCA black issues, 4 Trade Martins on Stallion, multiple Betty Moorers on Wand - decent trip!!! Remember Big Daddy????? Rich
  12. Been hammering this for a while at Soulsville - great soul and a cheapie too Rich
  13. Plenty Mr May. And in there they shall remain!!! (apart from the ones you know about that is)
  14. Steve, the rubber woman was covered up as Billie Piper . Hours of pleasure God bless that wardrobe Rich
  15. Yeah, it is Broken Man, also on Mercury UK 45 , both tracks taken from the same album. This was a "wardrobe find" at my folks' house!! By way of explanation, Jamie, my co-hort at Soulsville, purchased "Good Friend James" for a fair few pounds (but a lot cheaper than what it's going for now). When I go home to north wales to see the family occasionally, I dip into my old wardrobe (!!) where I've left hundreds of 45s I bought in the late 80s/early 90s. I almost fell off my chair when I saw "Pioneers" on UK Mercury. I rang Jamie up when I found it and said I'd turned up a copy of the Pioneers.....on UK Mercury...taken from the album (can't recall name now and don't have 45 with me here in work)....his response..."BASTARD WARDROBE"!!! Tragically it was the wrong one (was "Broken Man"), but it's still quite a nice tune. The wardrobe is infamous for turning little gems up - in the last year it's turned up mint Gordon Keith, Betty Moorer, Gladys (both) on O-Gee, Azie Mortimer on Bloomie etc. Sadly there can't be much left in there that's any good, but it's very amusing amongst us lot. It's like a Soul Tardis Rich

  17. Lee's a good mate of mine too and a top fella. Like Rowly says, he did unexpectedly lose his job and has consequently been a tad difficult to get hold of of late - who wouldn't be financially in a hole after that? I'll try and get hold of him tomorrow. I'd be extremely surprised to say the least if this is anything other than a misunderstanding and/or a delay in finding the funds, although obviously you deserve to be kept updated. Personally I'd trust the guy with my life and I don't think for a nano second he would intend to break any deal that he'd shook hands with you on - he just aint like that - I've known him for 20 odd years. Maybe the delay like I say is due to the unexpected job loss. I'll get hold of him tomorrow... Rich
  18. JCP and MGM!!!! Must have been part of a bigger trade me thinks. Will be interesting to see if he changes the description... Rich
  19. I didn't know that boot existed either so I just emailed the seller - here's his reply: "This is a repress that was sold over in the UK - I have only 3 or 4 I got is a trade for some Embers Originals on JCP & MGM.... Lil-peddler How many do you need ? Julian B. Fowler " I've replied saying that it may be prudent to state it's a re-press and take out the word "rare" from the description!!! Rich
  20. Not him!! Totally different seller and mine's a mint purple issue, not a yellow demo! I had noticed that copy on Ebay and the other stuff - all mint. All strange Rich
  21. I've said on here before how it's very suss that they're all totally mint - he had both Ascots up a couple of months ago. His sidekick "Group records" also has a Big Don's Rebellion - again brand spanking mint. Weird is all I can say Rich
  22. I know John my old mucker - I've had it since about '89 and on a tape for a few years before that I'll give it my best oomph... Rich
  23. Crikey, not heard this in ages!!! Will dig it out of the boxes and give it a play at Mark Bicknell's allnighter at Sheridans in the mid tempo lounge this saturday I'll wait till you've consumed at least 4 pints though...... Rich
  24. That's Troy Dodds Mikey I think on El Camino (great looking label BTW!)... Rich
